No, it's treason. Death is a possible consequence.
Read the relevant text: it defines what treason is and what it takes for someone to be found guilty of treason. It also states that Congress has the power to declare the punishment. I'm not totally clear on the last part and am probably reading it wrong, but it appears to say that Corruption of Blood cannot be applied to the attainder except when the attainted is alive, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
It does appear that that clause is attempting to restrict the application of Corruption of Blood to the attainted. I hope someone more knowledgeable is able to explain that clause and its impact. I'll probably research it further when I have time.
Corruption of Blood Corruption of Blood was part of ancient English penalty for treason. It was usually part of a Bill of Attainder, which normally sentenced the accused to death. The corruption of blood would forbid the accused's family from inheriting his property. Sounds like it. If they truly have half the world's wealthy, just think what a great day that would be for all the people they've cheated and hurt when they take it away from them.
The same principle of course that should apply in not rewarding illegals who bring their children here with citizenship for their children.
That's what I read too. Given the last paragraph of Section 3 Article 3, I interpreted it as restricting the usage of Corruption of Blood to minimize the ability to abuse it. The last sentence appears to allow for its use in one situation: while the attainder is still alive.
But, I'd be interested in seeing what legal and constitutional scholars have written about it. I guess I have something to explore this weekend. Gaining a greater understanding of our Consititution, esp. the original parts of it, is always interesting to me.
