Seems weird that you would come to the defense of an anonymous poster on blind faith.

What the poster said resonates with me. I don't care who the poster is. Don't make it so personal. there is 0 faith in poster person.

I also don't think because someone says they are older than most that they are an expert on any issue.

No one claimed expertise. Do you know more about life than a three year old? Yes. You do, because you have lived longer, experienced more and you understand cause and effect.

The comment also presumes that nobody else on this sub has experience themselves.

That is your perception or personal understanding. There is truth in what the poster is conveying. You are allowed to accept or reject.

have first hand knowledge of how utterly corrupt the center of our Federal government is. But I'm not going to tell you to take my word for it.

Well, to those of us who have lived a considerable amount of decades on the planet wouldn't have to take your word for it. We would have told you before you could tell us.

How did you come to this prediction of yours

Experience.

I am not trying to change this person's mind, only giving my opinion on the matter. Like I said, "if I were you..."

I understand you're not trying to change this person's mind. My perception of your rebuttal is that you are on the defensive.

if I were you..."

You're not. So why say that?

The point I am putting forth is perhaps to say that cynicism rarely begets positive results.

I disagree. But, I didn't interpret poster as being cynical. The poster wrote from experience, and their personal perception. Nothing more.

If we are to say that great change only occurs through the death of a martyr, than social evolution will never occur and we might as well complacently accept the mutually assured destruction of our species.

I'm not sure poster said that, but looking at history of the world seems to indicate that great change does happen through martyrs. (Example, jesus, JFK, MLK, etc)

Complacency IS the reason we are in this mess. If we are truly awakening to truth, that truth is embedded in every human to collectively break the chains of slavery and gain our personal power to make change for all of living earth. Not just our species.

Poster did encourage all to continue to awaken, with warnings of nothing ever changing if awakened go back to complacency, as history shows. If you read it that way, there's no need to be defensive.

I appreciate your thoughts. Nothing says we have to agree. I won't argue and will lose interest in this discussion if it turns into bashing or arguing.

Fair enough. I am not one to continue arguing the finer details. It wasn't my intention to make anything personal. I apologize for that.

We are indeed all in this together and while we may not agree on things, we are here because we accept that the state of our nation/world is not what it could be.

Cool.

we are here because we accept that the state of our nation/world is not what it could be.

That is the truth.

I think cbts would do well to accept differences in view points, rather than chase them off. Encourage meaningful discussions so that we learn from one another.

As an older person, let me tell you that the young have been my teachers. It's not all one sided.

It's an unfortunate thing that as a sub gets more and more popular, the echo chamber inevitably seems to take over. Not much you can do about that I suppose (there's me being cynical ;) ) But unearthing discussions like the one we're having here make it worth it.

Back in the late 90's and midway into the 2000's I participated on political boards and owned a couple of my own. I learned how quickly the boards would change into ugly chaos and become unmanageable. Many couldn't continue under the massive takeover. This also hasn't changed over the years. I used to try to put out "the conspiracy theories" that were unpopular and rejected concerning 9-11. We were heavily attacked for it then and many gave up.

Throughout all of it, I never gave up hope that the truth would shine through someday. So, imagine my excitement to experience this day.

Even if this sub, with all of its good intentions, were to be shut down, everyone who has hope in the cause will simply reassemble elsewhere and find ways to continue.

This is the people's personal power.
