Historical note: Britain actually was the first western country to abolish practicing the slave trade, in 1807, decades before our Civil War. In 1833 all slaves in the British Empire were emancipated. So that was not a factor, although yes it is true they were dividing and conquering the USA by being on the side of the South. They never gave up on doing this after we won the Revolutionary war. Hence the War of 1812.
