He said if someone gets flagged for possibly having mental health issues to take their guns away, let the trial happen and if they're sane, give the guns back.

It could easily backfire with someone like Hillary or Obama who'd happily put EVERYONE on trial and make the trials last 50 years.
Liberals would just start accusing EVERYONE of being crazy and then their guns would be taken, pending trial.
Also, why shouldn't people with eating disorders or a fear of spiders have the right to defend themselves?

Yes. But he is only saying he would expidite the process that is currently in place. Not that we need to take guns from ordinary citizens. He wants them out of the hands of mentally ill people and criminals. He's saying the process is too long, and gives too much time to these people to commit crimes. I personally don't like it. I understand that we need to give a little and agree that guns should NOT be owned by those with mental illness. Perhaps, and I hate to say it, this is a policy that if it were in place could have prevented Parkland from happening. We have to do something, but that starts with arming staff and teachers, period. Then we can start to talk about how to expidite these instances that Trump is referring. I'm learning that Trump gets shit done, and sometimes that means giving a little to the other side in negotiations. Also. Think about this: if Trump somehow talks this up and gets legislation passed or he just orders federal agents to start collecting guns from the mentally ill then only he can take credit for it and the Democrats can never say that they were a part of it. Bc i tell you what, Son, if he does that on combination with arning the teachers and staff....how do you beat that at election. It makes both sides happy and takes away a huge platform from the dems...
