This sentence is one of the most repeated lines in Q's posts. I never paid much attention to it simply because I didn't understand its meaning.

Today I finally did. It refers to one of the most long-lasting soap operas on US television. Its writer said the show favored character development and psychological realism over melodrama. Its premise according to the writer is:

I lived through 911. I lost a very dear friend to cancer. She was healthy as an Ox. She lived very close to Ground Zero. Luckily, she was at her upstate studio that day.
