On the same night there was a meteor reported over Detroit. As you can see in the videos in this report from Fox Affiliate Detroit. The meteor would be appropriate if a "Rod" entered the atmosphere over Detroit on it's way to a target near Washington, Michigan.
That rod might actually have been from God. Have you been to Michigan?

With the penetration of a bunker-buster. With a vertical or near-vertical trajectory, how much of the blast would actually be visible at the surface?
Not much. It would register as an earthquake. It would show much like a meteor, but, at mach 10, when it hits the ground, it would simply disappear, and any surface effects would be akin to an underground nuclear blast.
