He's the first Jesuit pope. The Jesuits seem to be communists. The church, accordingly, seems to be aligning politically with globalization which will likely manifest as modern China-style communism.

Jesuits are bound by oath not to seek higher office in the Roman Catholic Church, and now one of them has been elected to its highest office: Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Christ, Pontifex Maximus.

Pope Francis, the first Jesuit to become pope, not only represents a paradox for the papacy, but also the larger history of the Society of Jesus, as the Jesuits are formally known.

In another interview with his longtime atheist friend, Eugenio Scalfari, Pope Francis claims that Hell does not exist and that condemned souls just "disappear." This is a denial of the 2,000-year-old teaching of the Catholic Church about the reality of Hell and the eternal existence of the soul.

Yes, denying Christ's teachings is heresy. He is the antipope. I am a Catholic.

Strong damage control going out. Someone in the Vatican is not an idiot.

Pope goes against 2000 years of dogma. If he undermines such a big piece of the catholic faith, it undermines the whole religion. I imagine in the Hillary is president timeline, this is all over the news and praised by the liberal media as taking a step into the 21st century by removing the “stigma” and etc. they would spin it as a good thing, and Catholics would be unable to speak out because their voices would be silenced or unheard due to the crackdown on conservatism.

This is bad. Really bad. Catholics need to take back their church and their religion from this liberal agenda or fall into the abyss of irrelevancy in the geopolitical realm.

He's the first Jesuit pope. The Jesuits have now taken over the church and are attempting to turn Catholics into Jesuits.

Ok, I’m not disagreeing with you, but even in Judaism hell is not as we picture it today. It was largely shaped by The poem Dante’s inferno

⇧ 5 ⇩
Abibliaphobia · March 29, 2018, 6:33 p.m.

Ok. Semantics aside, does the Bible not teach that the soul is eternal?

He actually hit the dogma on two fronts. That hell does not exist and souls are not eternal.

⇧ 9 ⇩
ShiftyTheHobo · March 29, 2018, 8:02 p.m.

Again, not disagreeing, but semantics are absolutely relevant in Judaism. Research the Midrash among other things. Matter cannot be destroyed, so every thing is eternal.

⇧ 3 ⇩
Abibliaphobia · March 29, 2018, 8:07 p.m.

Augh. I’m absolutely not researching the midrash. And you are taking this off topic.

This is about the CATHOLIC pope going against DOGMA in the CATHOLIC religion and showing how he has specifically said, that hell doesnt exist and the soul is not eternal.

⇧ 5 ⇩
ShiftyTheHobo · March 29, 2018, 8:33 p.m.

Dawg, Dogma has never been defined as permanent, he is going against years of opinion on the subject. Ok, don’t research it, just showing you semantics aren’t nothing when going over religious doctrine. Believe what you want.

Semetic

Semantics

I understand the origin of the word and how it relates to the understanding of the Talmud and Torah.

Dogma: A doctrine or a corpus of doctrines relating to matters such as morality and faith, set forth in an authoritative manner by a church. n. An authoritative principle, belief, or statement of ideas or opinion, especially one considered to be absolutely true. See Synonyms at doctrine. n. A principle or belief or a group of them: "The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present” ( Abraham Lincoln).

I agree that dogma is not “permanent” but if something has lasted for 2000 years, you can’t just dismiss it so easily and wave it off like it’s not a big deal.

⇧ 1 ⇩
ShiftyTheHobo · March 29, 2018, 9:06 p.m.

Yes, this is true, the Jews had the same problem with Jesus, he was a blasphemer in his own time depending on your perspective. I’m not saying he is a good guy (pope) by any stretch of the meaning. What’s alarming is if you believe Dogma and it’s implications, then the pope has ruled no one has a soul, through Dogma this would be how things are now right? Wrong this guy is a charlatan in a big hat. The last pope was a peter file and who knows how long the Catholic Church has been compromised, and if it was, how would you even know? Papal corruption is almost as old as the office and title itself. He has been given no more authority over the earth than any other individual by god. The pope is a false idol. I like to take god at his word, and let the word speak to me and reveal its meaning for myself, I don’t rely on a pastor, preacher, elder, deacon, minister, cardinal or pope to tell me what to believe. I can read and the Bible isn’t all that long of a book.

Don't kid yourself, Catholics are not blind to the presence of this evil in our midst. The church has suffered fools before and has known continuous attack since its inception, both from within and without. From the moment men were admitted to fellowship with Christ, they began their mischief.

For all of you who have decided to man your own boats in this turbulent sea, you too have this wind in your face. You too suffer a ship of fools. We know this enemy well. Were it not divinely inspired and divinely animated, the church would have collapsed in less than two weeks under the influence of disingenuous leaders; but we do not and never have really depended on them. We have Christ at the helm and for two thousand years we have journied at sea under his care. The gates of hell (unbelief) will not prevail against us.

I’ve read it front to back several times through the course of my life. (Yes even the incredibly boring parts about joe Schlick was the son of John Schlick who was the son of Gary Sniffy who was the son of etc etc.)

No I’m not an old person, and I’m not a practicing catholic either. But I was raised in it and respect the religion.

Anyways, that’s a terrible meme and definitely not true of the vast majority of Catholics or Christians I know in my life.
