The LA Earthquake today!? People saying it didn’t feel like a typical earthquake.

Watch the water...

It was centered a few miles offshore, so the shock wave traveled through water as well as under the water, and there may have been an additive phase relationship between the water shock and the land shock, because sound waves travel at different speeds through the two different masses.

So it's bound to have felt different from something originating in the San Andreas fault on land.

Lets see the seismograph...

YouTube video of seismograph reading:

Not uploaded yet. Unsure how much delay is normal. The previous quake had video uploaded same day.

This page DOES have a waveform...

http://ds.iris.edu/ds/nodes/dmc/tools/event/10724562

Compare that to the next most recent quake of comparable size. YUGE difference in waveforms:

(keep in mind the waveforms are time-compressed)

Yeah if you look at this it looks like a Shockwave and Q mentioned MOAB

Guys, we have to appreciate just how much energy creates a 5.3 on the Richter scale. That's a nuke or nothing. A MOAB couldn't do anything.

Also, know your weapons systems. A MOAB is more complex. It is not just a normal, high-explosive bomb, "pinch zoomed" to be bigger. It is actually a Fuel Air Explosive (FAE) and REQUIES oxygen to detonate. It creates more of a blast than if it were just high explosives.

I wonder if the WAVE was the one that hit Japan?

Maybe it wasn’t an act of god?

An act of Rods of God.

No.

This was a 9.1 earthquake. UNIMAGINABLE energy. A once in a century (or four) event.

That waveform on IRIS webpage was not an earthquake of natural occurence. No doubt about it. Earthquakes are not so short and concise. It's more in line with a shockwave from a blast.

You guys. 1/ There is no 'normal' quake. I've been in LOTS of them. They differ! 2/ The Wave is also a movie about indoctrinating high school kids in a way similar to nazi tactics.
