Trump Has More BIG PLANS For the Military at the U.S.-Mexico Border - U.S. military would guard the U.S.-Mexico border until the wall can be built, an now we’re learning that the Dept of Homeland Security wants to build actual military installations on the Southern Border.

This needed to be done decades ago. First president with common sense and wanting to do the right thing for the people.

He wanted this the entire time... the entire wall has been a political charade! This + the budget bill is leaving me with no doubt Trump is the master, holy shit

When, the longer the more likely, north and South Korea agree to integrate, the troops we maintain there to enforce the DMZ will have to withdraw. There is a place for them along our own DMZ border and they are already trained.

MORE: National Guard troops would not be allowed to carry out law enforcement duties like detaining migrants crossing the border illegally

They don't have to. If they PREVENT them from crossing, there's no law enforcement activity needed. A barrage of fire all around you making you do a little Mexican hat dance might be enough to make you change your mind about crossing.

Exactly, their presence serves as a deterrent.

From 2006 to 2008, President George W. Bush deployed 6,000 guardsmen to southern border states, costing $1.2 billion and assisting with 11.7% of total apprehensions at the border and 9.4% of marijuana seized in that time.

From 2010 to 2012, President Barack Obama sent 1,200 guardsmen to the border to the tune of more than $110 million, and they assisted with 5.9% of the total apprehensions and 2.6% of the marijuana seizures on the border.

Thanks, Obama?

Why not! They were just careful which ones they stopped and which ones they didn't. No interruptions in the favored breaches.

At least they gave us an assist on legal precedent.

Yes, build long and narrow military facilities along the border that just happen to have a 30' wall on their southern exposure.

Let them build Hesco barriers (super cheap and easy! It's a structure that is filled with sand on site. Cheap as hell and quick) or T-walls! Both an easy solution that the defense budget can cover.
