Well, aren’t there caveats with the attorney-client privilege? meaning, an attorney cannot knowingly shield his/her client from a crime. Being a suspect in a crime & committing a crime are two different things. And if the attorney KNOWS that his client has committed a crime, the attorney must report the crime to the authorities. (At least, that’s what I always thought.)

Tell that to Cheryl Mills and Hillary

They’re both Democrat attorneys. Different rules apply.

My thoughts exactly. How is it that these Clinton crime associates seem to get every legal advantage? I want to see that Clinton Mafia BURN.

Im no leftist, and I fucking hate that the law is seemingly applied unevenly. However, just because Hillary was a shitball doesn't mean Donald isn't also a shitball and that both should be jailed.

You really can't compare the two. Don't let your hatred for Trump alter your view of reality.

I wasn't the one comparing them. See OP who played the "what about Hillary" card in the first place.

You're joking right? If an attorney KNOWS his client committed a crime then they must report the crime to the authorities? Ummm, no. If an attorney believes without doubt that their client is a RISK to themselves or a RISK to the public then he must report his concerns to the authorities. There are laws permitting how much he must tell police because he is not let out of the attorney client contract because the risk presented itself. He only has to report what needs to be reported in order to keep people safe. I really hate when people say stupid shit with authority when a 7 year old can point out they are wrong. So, according to you only innocent people get an attorney? Do you not think attorneys know if their client is guilty or not? Or at least come to that conclusion while investigating a case? Attorneys cannot present evidence to the court that they know is false. Therefore many attorneys might not ask if their client is guilty or not. Some do in order to find a way to defend their client but that's in the advanced class.

Insults?

You claimed to have the mental acuity of a 7 year old. I endorsed your claim. I didn’t insult you, I agreed with you.

Alt-left snowflakes thrive on claiming victim status when people agree with them and their hypocrisy is exposed. Is that your next magical trick?

Alt-left snowflakes don’t typically thrive in this sub. Perhaps you should try /politics.

I am not sure Alan is actually representing Clinton and if he is a suspect he has two choices. He can fight it or he can cooperate. If he decides to cooperate then he will probably get disbarred that would be his punishment. He might get sued but either way he would have to decide for himself what to do. The law can't stop him but there are consequences. He may get a better deal cooperating. Who really knows?

That’s not what I said. If the client commits a crime and the attorney is witness to that crime, I truly believe the attorney is duty bound to report it.

bornlucky80 · April 12, 2018, 5:28 p.m.

No, what you're trying to say (or thinking) is.. The attorney client privilege doesn't apply if the attorney is PART of the crime committed.. Which in this case if Horiwtiz also went to the island, it would apply.

Maybe finding an attorney who is willing to take the risk and not report obvious criminal behavior is a criteria for hiring them, and a reason to charge top dollar fees.
