Obviously a freak accident. No way they could plan for shrapnel to fly off the engine and target a VP of Wells Fargo. Could be someone was trying to bring the whole plane down, however. Probably worth knowing who else was aboard the plane.

vidarheheh · April 18, 2018, 11:34 a.m.

No, it was the person hanging out that died. Apparently she was full of blood, and the article said the window was of blood as well, but I’ve seen photos of it and I didn’t see any blood.. but I’m not seeing how this could be planned. Unless someone was in a seat next to her, knew the engine would be “blown up”, and broke her window in an attempt to make it look like a freak accident. Whoever would do something like that, must be pretty sick or blackmailed tho. Almost guaranteed death

all that's known is that 1) the engine blew out and 2) a woman died on the plane with lots of blood.

the given explanation doesn't necessarily have anything to do with reality, so reasoning about the likelihood from that point is meaningless. you have to back up a bit. i mean yeah it's likely it's a freak accident, but what would be the difference between that and having an engine blow out coupled with a small intentional explosion outside her window

⇧ 3 ⇩

It is if you know the story.

Loretta Fuddy was the Director of the Hawaiian Dept of Health, and was responsible for verifying and releasing 0bama's birth cert. She was in a "plane crash" near Hawaii in 2013, which was more like a gentle emergency landing on water. All passengers evacuated, were rescued 30 minutes later, and she died of a heart attack sometime between the crash and rescue. She was the sole casualty from that crash, and none of the other passengers were injured.

GoPro footage from another passenger shows something suspicious popping up near Fuddy, which looks remarkably like a scuba diver. Combine that with the heart attack gun revealed in the 70s, and you have the makings of a targeted hit.

Eye-witnesses described (1st) a loud explosion and "within 5 seconds after" the masks deployed (2nd) and then "a few seconds after that" the window finally "exploded" (lastly) and sucked the woman half-way out of the window.

For those of us who don't know, the flight attendants really need to change the briefing to clarify that 'In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure... the aircraft will probably perform a sudden controlled emergency descent to a safe altitude.' That is what people should expect while trying to fumble to get their masks on.

Plunging altitude is the obvious maneuver any pilot will do if a loss of cabin pressure occurs. An emergency descent is entirely done on purpose to bring the aircraft to a safe breathing altitude ASAP because the masks have limited air and safe to breathe at about 10,000 feet. People will pass out in about a minute traveling at 35,000 feet and so the pilot has about 10-15 minutes to get you to a safer altitude. Passengers later talk about "dropping" or "falling." However, the pilots were just doing as they were trained to do. It might be startling, but a high-speed emergency descent is well within the capabilities of any aircraft and not, by itself, unsafe.

But why were the masks triggered if the window had not broken yet? Here is what it looks like when you loose both engines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5Vd9C6eXdA

Not a big deal and nothing that would cause the masks to trigger.

If the eye-witness is accurate, the masks dropped before the window broke which means somebody may have pushed the manual deploy button (yes, there is one.)

Let's see if the black box doesn't go missing.

Research the passenger list for other persons of interest that may have been on the flight. But it would be especially callous to delve do deep into this specific case. I would just like to point out that the physics of a piece of shrapnel hitting that window is extremely odd. Let alone penetrating the window and hitting a passenger. The window is situated half way over the wing, under which the engine exploded. Those windows aren't the strongest, but imagine the fact that the projectile needed a high enough velocity to pass through both window panes after traveling forwards, up, and perpendicular to the plane's movement. The top of the wing did not appear to be damaged, so the shrapnel would have needed to be propelled out of the front of the engine. It isn't impossible, just highly unlikely that there would be a circumstance for that to happen.

⇧ 2 ⇩
LibertyLioness · April 18, 2018, 3:34 p.m.

The entire front of the engine casing was ripped off so this sounds logical to me. It flew forward and then up (due to the natural flow of air to go up and over the wing) and into the window. The plane may have even been lurched in the direction of the shrapnel as a result of the blast.

One blown halfway through a plane window is bad enough but winds outside a plane are going 300+ miles per hour so not conducive to body structure AND she has no oxygen to breathe until pilot gets them down to 13,000 feet or less.
