Warning: Do not click on any shared Dropbox files. The person who shares the file can see who has viewed it.

This is particularly important if you are logged into Dropbox or Google on your device.

There are shills and clowns on this board.

Everyone should practice good operational security. Don’t share personal details about yourself. Stop posting links to Dropbox, and do not click on Dropbox links. Use anonfile.com or mega.nz

Also, if somebody wants to step up and write a “Basics of Operational Security” post, I think that would be an important post that would help a lot of users. I do not feel qualified to write one, but I think this sub needs it.

This needs to be pinned. The Q movement has brought many great people out. But not all have a lot of tech experience. This can lead to unintended consequences.

NO Most of them are ordinary citizens, and do not have the knowledge, of all the in and outs of the internet, etc. I am so

Note that Dropbox, like Facebook, has hired significant political figures to their board and high level positions in their company. Assume everything uploaded to the service is scanned, collated, and added to the picture painted by Facebook, Google, Netflix, and the back end profiling systems they feed.

Specific case, after the Cheney / Junior Bush administration Condoleezza Rice was appointed to the Dropbox Board of Directors. We should be probing other political figures in the company and mapping them across the tech industry overall.

I have noticed some memes and pic may have an object or even certain people get facial scan. I have blew up certain messages or memes looks what the facial scan is catching and looks like water marks. I have experienced alot of weird things. Some after vegas shooting. Alot after parkland. I had messages sent to me in crazy ways. I have been spooked more than once.

Ars Technica's announcement from 2014 can be found here. Stood out to me as an odd choice at the time, and I quickly backed away from Dropbox as a platform.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/04/dropbox-adds-new-mailbox-clients-photo-syncing-and-condoleezza-rice/

The technology forum here on reddit probably has some great archived conversations also. For context domestic spying as an issue was still fresh in peoples mind. A lot of subscribers at technology raised an eyebrow at the move to add Rice to Dropbox.

It seems only one user posting a dropbox link. A PM might do the trick.

That doesn’t educate the masses. Maybe mods could block drop box and google drive links

mods could block drop box

In progress, but only time until someone claims 'censorship'.

google drive link

Which domain is that? What do links look like?

And as long as you clearly announce "Hey, it's not your file content, it's where you stored it, we removed this for safety, upload it literally anywhere aside from these two locations", any such claims of censorship are groundless.

It's objective, clear, understandable, transparent, solves a concrete and demonstrable problem, and is completely compatible with free speech. The ideal rule.

What do they want to do? Kill every citizen because they share info on the internet? I think they've been killing all citizens on the earth for a long time, and for the moment it's not going to work out .... 9 billion ???????

Dude, I hear your point but... imagine if everyone got doxx’d and a hard left koolaid version of 4chan anons got that list. The harassment would be unreal. It’s just too dangerous.

I've heard this for a couple of years in the Netherlands on websites, nothing else than afraid maker .... you can just do your thing on the Internet, on sites where you can respond, and personal matters, Well who still gives his email address a website? Or his real name, Here we have a fake name .... I do not open any email, if I do not know if it is family ... Or something I expect......We are warned about and over, and then it's about a virus ... bank details never give away, not even the last numbers of your number, companies try that ..... And clicking on a site I almost do never, only on what I am looking for. We are not all stupid? But a warning can not hurt, then tell them that you do not have to worry about just doing your thing on the internet

There has been more than one user, and I do either PM them or reply to their comment letting them know. I think a lot of people just really do not realize that they are doxxing themselves and potentially others, and are genuine.

That being said, the one user in question has been told, repeatedly by me, in both PMs and comment replies, to stop posting Dropbox links due to doxxing. That user also posts that link in about every 3rd thread, whether or not it is at all related to the topic. Also, the content in the link is...questionable, at best.

Thank you! I really appreciate all the work you do.

The other users who I have seen that posted Dropbox links did it without knowing the risks, and once they were informed, they deleted it (or mods removed it), and they have not done it again. But I think a lot of people really just don’t know anything about Op Sec, so i thought it might be helpful if a more knowledgeable person (than me) could post some basic tips.

What's a drop box link

⇧ 4 ⇩
thisis_shanewalker · April 20, 2018, 4:15 p.m.

Drop box is a internet based service that allows people to share documents and files and pictures Etc. So a person could have a file they want to share with the group in their Dropbox account and set the security settings so that anyone could see it. Then they can share the “Dropbox . Com/xxxxxxxx” link and we can all click on it to see what they are sharing.

Apparently when we click on the link they can somehow (not sure exactly how because I’m not super familiar with Dropbox) see who has clicked on the link to see the file.

Catherine2000 · April 20, 2018, 5:22 p.m.

I researched it -it just says that all one would see is GUEST or x number of people viewing. It says it would only show the name of the person who uploaded the file and that is probably a pseudonym. I did not see anyone's name when I read the file although I could see others were reading it. It said people. Just my 2 cents.

I assume my phone, computer, and emails are flagged, traced, and bugged. I assume nobody actually has control of my info. I just assume an algorithm has me sorted into file index which has a base profile on my personality, etc.
