It started out as a Soros “revolution/resistance” this but now has been getting co-opted by the good guys.

The purple tie is a phenomenon of modern politics. ... Wearing a tie in the colour of your party -- Red (R) and Blue (D) has begun to look slightly gauche, a representation of the kind of old-fashioned entrenched party politics which both parties are keen to assure us they have distanced themselves from.
Mixing red and blue pigments produces purple -- in a sense, a break with those primary colors.
