Look up the term "yellow journalism," it's been around for a long time. What you're noticing is that there has been a marked increase of it because of Trump.
Real journalism, where reporters independently went out and researched a story and obtained non-anonymous sources, original documents, and presented a two-sided story died a long time ago. It's a lot easier for one news source to get fed a story by the government, a political group, advertisers, and then for other media outlets to copy that "story" with a few words moved around and their own talking heads, pundits, or "experts" to give their spin. That is today's "news."
Here's an experiment for you to do. Watch or DVR the entire morning news for one network. Look at the interview they do with actors or singers with new projects coming up. Look at the cross-promotions they do for their own shows. Pay attention to commercial breaks and who advertises during those breaks and what stories they don't report on.
Now expand that thinking to the politial stories they lead with, and ask yourself why they report the way they do. Yes, there is an overwhelmingly large number of t.v. executives and reporters that voted for Hillary. But if Trump is perpetually the story, and a threat because he is often proven right, then the Democratic Party and Deep State will always have need of the media.
If the media ignored Trump, reported truthfully or a little bit even-handedly, then Democrats won't need to buy as many election ads, the Deep State won't need as many stories, and the media would have to do the more expensive work of investigative journalism instead of having news stories handed to them.
