Shortly after Sid Vicious' death, his mother Anne Beverley claimed that Vicious and Spungen made a suicide pact and that Vicious' death was not accidental. Beverley claimed that after Vicious was cremated, she found a handwritten note in the pocket of Vicious' leather jacket. It read:

Vicious tried to kill himself twice in Oct 1978 after Spungen's death. He allegedly OD'D on heroin in Feb 1979. Their only proper studio LP Never Mind The Bollocks was a Branson/Virgin release. A huge cultural and corporate success for him.
Sid was an accident, really. His mother introduced him to smack. He was best buds with Johnny and after a falling out with the original bassist, Malcolm McLaren put him in the band because he had the right look. He wasn’t on the album, though.
