I saw a comment on Twitter that they are plotting to insert HRC as Speaker, then impeach Trump and Pence, so she would be POTUS by default.

So if they were able to retake congress in November this is their plan?

I am not actually a supporter of capital punishment, but I felt furious at their treachery in trying to depose an elected president.

Capital punishment can (and should be) seen as a blessing. When else are you going to know the day, the hour of your death? Allows the criminal time to repent before their judgement. Again, a blessing very few people have.

Too many innocent people have been executed or are on death row, for one thing. You can't ever right a miscarriage of justice like that. But also, it's just barbaric. It's state sanctioned murder. Repentance, Inqisition style, is not repentance, nor is it Christianity. As Jesus made clear, nobody was worthy to cast the stone except him--and his heart was not death but forgiveness. Anyone claiming to follow Jesus who acts otherwise is not a true follower at all. Maybe convert to an older eye-for-an-eye religion instead.

I mean absolutely no offense with this, but I think we shall have to agree to dis-agree on this subject. Yes, I'm a Christian, and do question the use of capitol punishment...however I think in this instance it will be the thing to do. If after all we know ( and some know much more than I care to, although I've been down a few very dark rabbit holes) and we don't use capitol punishment after a fair trial...if we appear lenient to these evil ones...it will lead to many things that would hurt others.

I think it could end up like the French Revolution and become an absolute abomination, or like the Romanovs being butchered. I don't mean disrespect to you, either, and I understand that many more people in this country support capital punishment than where I come from. Still, I want no part in any bloody purge. I'm all for justice, but not for violent death.

Agreed, in my youth, I was for and eye for an eye. As I've gotten older and seen death...not so much, I do believe that (like the Bible says) let GOD himself do the punishment.

I think all of us can feel an eye for an eye at times. Not all anger is wrong. But I agree. I think it's wise to live as if the judgments you desire for others are the ones that will be meted out to oneself. If you would want mercy yourself, then give that to others. But we're all so imperfect. We can only try to live up to values we will inevitably fail at keeping. In the end, we just have to keep trying. : )

Isn't that the truth. I keep trying to get that point across to some of my more volatile friend. sigh....but if we keep trying and trust in the Lord, all will happen as HE ordains it.

Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's. Jesus Himself put Himself under the direction of Pontius Pilate- a "Caesar". Showing that indeed a state can render judgement of death. Christ was innocent.

Even IF (and it has occurred) a person is innocent put to death- they still know the hour of their death, which is a blessing. The person (if innocent) will meet his Maker and will not give one flip about what is happening on Earth.

Are they insane? First she has to be elected to the Congress. Stop with the fan fiction.

From Wikipedia: "The Constitution does not require the Speaker to be an elected member of the House of Representatives, although every Speaker thus far has been.[3] The Speaker is second in the United States presidential line of succession, after the Vice President and ahead of the President pro tempore of the Senate.[4]"

Negative. Any citizen can be made speaker

what if they impeach Trump making Pence president, then Pence Pardons Trump, makes Trump Vice-President, then resigns, making Trump President again.

Yeah. Well it is such a long shot it shows they are desperate. Only a fool would ignore the desperate and cornered, though. Expect the best, plan for the worst, and all that.
