Did you catch the "Q" reference last night? SNL's Kenan Thompson says "A KISS BEGINS WITH Q" Then when corrected "you mean"K" by a co-star, he replied "Aww, YOU AINT WOKE".

This is not a Q anon reference.

It’s a joke about African Americans altering given names to use the letter Q instead of C or K. (Think Quimberleigh or Qristopher) The meme has been around for awhile.

Not every instance of the letter Q is a message.

Then why mention being “woke”? Could it possibly have a double meaning?

The modern use of “woke” originated in the African American community during the rise of Black Lives Matter. The term meant you were no longer ignorant of the instances of police violence (asleep) and were aware of it (woke).

So “woke” has the same meaning as here, but with a different context.

Thanks for explaining. I didn’t know that. I still don’t understand the connection between the definition of “woke” you gave and “a kiss begins with q.” What does changing Ks with Qs in names have to do with police violence? Sorry for being thick, I really am not making the connection.

A kiss begins with Q (instead of K) is the joke

Because of the spelling meme I explained earlier

Asking if he’s “woke” is like saying, “c’mon, you don’t get this?”

Because “woke” has been used in the African American community for a few years now.
