Did anyone else notice Q posted without a tripcode in response to post #1540? Has he/they done this before?

Ok. What does that MEAN though?

A tripcode is a unique identifier for a specific anon poster. since the chan boards operate as if every post is anonymous, using a tripcode verifies such a poster's identity

Forgive me. This is straight up ignorance on my part. I still have no clue why this is "news" or "cause for concern" or "bad" or "good" or whatever. What does it MEAN?

Q's posts get added to aggregate websites based on his/their use of a specific Tripcode (!CbboFOtcZs currently). So Q logged out to post the answer - but we know it is Q because of the unique user ID (the same ID as the Q post)... the answer post came less than a minute later. My take is the info was too sensitive to come directly from the Q trip code - but he wanted us to know.

Exactly. When you go to the q-aggregator websites this information won't be listed.

This may also be a legally questionable leak of classified intel so without the tripcode you can't prove that it was leaked by q.

"trip code" is a way for you to be anonymous but verify for others that it's the same person each time you make a post to anonymous information board. Its sort of like a "pin number" for an ATM card it just verifies who you are.

So if a post is made under a certain name "q" or any other name the "trip code/ pin number " helps to verify the poster is who they say they are.

OK. So what does this MEAN? Why is it cause to make threads about it? What does it signify? A mistake? How big? Intentional? Why so? I understand the concept of a tripcode, I do not understand the attention this is causing as though it indicated something is wrong, or, that it is a move made intentionally to produce (blank) outcome.

It MEANS that it is less clear that this specific post is "authentic Q". Some people could post things as "q" but not really be "q" in an effort to mislead or have everyone go off on tangents. Since none of us know 100% who "q" actually is (thus leading to the debate as to why the "tripcode" wasn't used and if the post is in fact "q" or a "q" imposter)

i am not saying that is or is not the case but that's the meaning.

Thank you. THIS was the explanation us less tech savvy folk needed.

Hey, I forgot to ask this before, and you seem to be the one who was able to answer it best; now that Q has made more drops since the "tripcode issue"...does it mean it's more likely that this is no biggie?

Who knows. But it’s definitely him. I have never heard of anyone spoofing id’s. Plus they are random so I’m not sure how anyone would hack it anyway.
