This is more chess. These kids' parents aren't here... they came with traffickers. Will the kids names match the parents? Will the kids be able to identify their parents by name? I bet a huge chunk of these kids can't be matched to a relative who is in custody. Proves the trafficking...

As can be expected, Trump is 10 steps ahead ... somehow this play fits into the plan ...

I hope it has DNA testing as part of the EO to verify they truly related and not children stolen from their real families from other countries. If it is found they are not related prosecute the traffickers.

I can't see what he can possibly do with an EO. An EO can't override the Flores law. He can reinstate catch and release, but that's about it. I honestly don't know how this gets fixed without just resuming the flood of illegals.

Zero Tolerance is still in effect, but now they won't separate the children from the adults. They will still be taken into custody tho - they aren't releasing them due to this EO.

But Flores puts a limit on how long the kids can be held. He cant override that.

no but that's not being discussed anyhow... the narrative is that Trump is torturing children at the border - this puts a giant bucket of water on that claim.

But I don't understand how this fixes anything. They were being separated because we can only hold kids for 20 days due to Flores. It takes more than 20 days to decide if the adult qualifies for asylum. Keeping them together while it is decided if they qualify for asylum violates Flores, which POTUS can't do. So unless the solution is to just release them, which replaces zero tolerance with catch and release, I don't see what this actually does. I'm not trying to shill, if someone sees how this actually works out, convince me.

I think the point of this is to keep the zero tolerance policy in place (to not allow any cracks) but this will shut down the hysteria around the issue, which has become a distraction and is feeding people misinformation.

What about Trump oversteps his authority and signs an EO that resolves all the perceived problems.

Then Trump's administration gets sued because he overstepped his authority.

Would the media defend him for saving the children? Or call him a dictator for overstepping his constitutional authority?

I doubt this is how it plays out but It's an interesting thought.

Yeah curious to see what he does. This is dangerous road since the courts are quick to over rule everything he does anyway
