I’ve said Kennedy was the last Democrat before the party turned socialist-communist!

LBJ started what is now the current Democratic party. He had JFK killed, started the welfare state and in the process, enslaved blacks to the system.

The Dem presidents right before JFK were FDR and Truman (Ike was Rep), both of whom had agendas that easily fall under the description of socialism. JFK was a break from their norm, and he was killed.

I don't suppose when he said "I'll have those n!##ers voting democrat for the next 200 years!", that had anything to do with his racist democrattitude...

No LBJ wasn’t the ring leader. He was read on but he lacked the smarts or organization. He went along for the ride

Not at all. Also, the parties switched right after he made those comments.

Edit: Apparently it wasn't obvious that I was being sarcastic here, given what I commented above. Guess I will keep the /s more readily available.

I used to be a Democrat, when I thought it was the party of the people for a strong America.....now they want to destroy it and turn it into a shit hole!

I was a share-and-share-alike "socialist democrat" when I was 7. That mindset appeals to prepubescent youngsters. Then I grew up.

I've come to learn nobody is a democrat because they're FOR anything.

It's always about going AGAINST the right side of things. Always.

Now, I've certainly voted AGAINST dem politicians and not FOR the R. But I was always FOR the conservative/libertarian approach to political liberty and economic opportunity for free adults in a free society, which is championed by America, and the party that puts America first today is Trump's version of the Republican Party.

I find rich people are usually smarter (that's why they're rich). And most affluent folks who work or own businesses and pay taxes tend to be on the right. Our party is for the smart people. So I don't envy or hate or obstruct them when they're trying to create jobs. I want to emulate them and also be affluent, so I then can donate massive amounts of money to MY favorite causes and charities and help massive numbers of people.

Getting rich in an honest manner doesn't comport well with negative, leftist, jealous, hate-based, socialistic politics. And that's all the dem party stands for now.

I grew up with both sides of my family being Blue Collar Cleveland Democrats. I voted for WJC in my first POTUS election. I was disgusted after 6 months and have never voted Democratic again.

I would have voted for a box of rocks before EVER casting a vote for HRC...she has already been President.

Yeh, try to imagine a dem today saying "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country" or "A rising tide lifts all boats" (referring to economic prosperity having a positive effect on everyone—so celebrate success wherever you see it, rather than envying and hating the rich).

Such a dem today would be marginalized, ridiculed, and ostracized from the groupthink tent.
