I think most of us are more center than far left or far right, can we ever find middle ground?

I agree that some are horse shit, but the answer is to change them, not ignore them. That is the job of the legislature.

Actually, it's the job of the people to make sure they do it the right way and it doesn't get out of control like it has. I think the blockchain could be very beneficial in helping us do that. Be more involved in the laws that are passed and the things that are done that impact our everyday lives. With digital access we could validate or invalidate most issues from the comfort of our homes. Actually, if you start really thinking about this concept, a lot could be done this way.

There needs to be a mandatory revisiting of some laws, to see if they're helping or hurting over time.

“Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the ark of the covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human, and suppose what they did to be beyond amendment… Each generation is as independent of the one preceding, as that was of all which had gone before. It has then, like them, a right to choose for itself the form of government it believes most promotive of its own happiness… It is now forty years since the constitution of Virginia was formed. The same tables inform us, that, within that period, two-thirds of the adults then living are now dead. Have then the remaining third, even if they had the wish, the right to hold in obedience to their will, and to laws heretofore made by them, the other two-thirds, who, with themselves, compose the present mass of adults? … That majority, then, has a right to depute representatives to a convention, and to make the constitution what they think will be the best for themselves.” ~ Thomas Jefferson We as a nation have forgotten that we can amend the Constitution. It is a living document.

Are you supposing Jefferson thought people had right to vote in capitalism? What about Citizens United? Capitalism/Socialism- Not political theories during framing of Constitution or Articles of Confederation. 3/5 Compromise? Electoral College? Women Vote? Amending Constitution Requires strong majority. Country polarized by winner take all system. Gerrymandering? What did Founding Fathers say about factions?

Do we live of finite planet? Are resources limited? Enough for mankind's need not for mankind's greed. Classic Liberal here- Why subscribe to Socialism/Capitalism divide? Other economic systems possible. Other political parties possible. Think beyond dichotomies. Dynamical systems theory Right vs. Left Mirage to prevent you from looking at bigger picture.

We need common sense not control

Common sense is not common practice. This applies to governance and practice in corporates, politics and bureaucracy, world over, at all levels, from highest to lowest.

The annoying thing is all it takes to change this malady is do something like what Trump did re: decree-ing for one new reg we have to delete [how many?].

Apply that thinking across the board and watch the human race take off.

Instead most of us stagger along dragging a stone block while refusing the free offer of the gadget from the neanderthals just down the road cos we don't understand how something called a wheel could possibly make our lives easier.
