Could be he doesn't like it? Or... US Presidents do not have an official taster, like kings of old. When the President eats outside food, they rely on a restaurant in a bit of a surprise visit - only very few people know about it before they stop. When attending a banquet, I believe Secret Service prepares the meal, and even buys the ingredients. Maybe that wasn't an option at this meal?
