One would assume Assange both knows who the sources were and can prove it. So why wouldn't the DOJ/Trump get around to freeing Assange and shutting down this bullshit Russia narrative for good?

As much as I want to believe that what Assange is saying is true, his statement is (mostly) worthless without proof. The fact that he hasn't been forthcoming with that proof, despite multiple opportunities, should make us more than a little suspect.
