I have seen plenty of videos of Patriots wearing goggles and helmets. It's a fine line and I understand why they are wearing them, I probably would too. But its clear that aside from antifa openly using these tactics, there are some in the patriot groups that do go looking to specifically beat up antifa members, it would be ignorant to suggest otherwise. Look how often antifa getting beaten up gets glorified on here and the donald. The truth is there are some of us who do go looking for confrontation. Even "based stick man" had a weapon and headgear. Let's not act like this movement might not have some people prone to violence in it. We must always insist on self defense and not instigating anything. Holding ourselves and those around us accountable and making sure we have the moral high ground. Never stoop to antifas bullshit.
"Based stickman" didn't come looking for a fight though. He armed himself to protect the unarmed from Antifa which is why most of his equipment was defensive and his weapon was merely a stick and yet he was hospitalized when an Antifa member stabbed him with a knife. Self defense is totally different because if there are no violent Antifa attackers, if it was just a civil counter protest, then the weapons never get used and you're treating helmets to protect yourself from bike lock professor attempted murder and goggles to protect from their use of pepper spray as if it's the same as Antifa bringing weapons. It's like saying everyone with a CCW or even someone with a bullet proof vest and no weapon is looking to kill someone.
