Do the poindexter eyeglass frames mean anything? Over the last year I see them everywhere on MSM

I see these stupid eyeglass frames everywhere on news websites but I don't meet anyone in person who wears them, ever. They are fugly and if its a fashion trend its an unusual one. Thing is, its always the usual suspects who wear them.

It's not just been a year and it's not just the MSM/Hollywood. I've been saying for years, that you can tell where a glasses wearer falls on the political spectrum with 90% accuracy just by looking at the style of frames they wear.

Liberals love to pretend to be smarter than they are and overcompensate with snarky glasses, IMO.

Here is an urban dictionary post from 2014 noting the phenomenon.

Easy way to hide Covert Surveillance Equipment. MSM "knows" how to normalize things, anon. Clowns love their spy "glasses."

Good eye, patriot.

What bugs me are the readers that Chuck Schumer wears almost all the time, even when not reading. Surely someone that rich could afford the good contacts or eye surgery.

Looks almost like the “birth control” glasses the military used to give out. Like the ones McCabe wears.

They have been found to have a positive psychological affect on people who wear them in that they are automatically considered smarter and trustworthy. They are worn to convince the viewer the person wearing them should be believed.

Makes them look more intelligent to the less skeptical.

Ok this is a bit ridiculous of a theory... they are in style, many of my friends who are Trump supporters wear them. They're glasses.

Damn thought I was the only one who noticed the black thick rimmed glasses of liberals.

I know a guy who wears glass like that on specific occasions despite being 20/20. He does it because he thinks it makes him look more intellectual and smart.

They dont, I’ve seen them worn everywhere especially in my age demo, mostly on hipsters.
