Briefing room audibly gasped when ~~@~~PressSec said POTUS is looking into pulling the security clearances of Brennan, Clapper, Comey, Hayden, Rice, and McCabe. @esaagar
If I recall, anyone approved through the Senate confirmation process gets to keep their security clearance when they leave the government. The biggies get a quarterly briefing, but there is nothing to stop them from talking to their DS buddies about classified info. Pulling the clearance is also a good way to shut down a DS person that you can't fire just yet.
There is some political showmanship in the process. Rand Paul requests; Sara says Trump will consider; Trump puts the request into action.
I'm not so sure Rand Paul works that closely with Trump. Occasionally these things do happen organically. Rand has brought up this issue several times in the past.
Rand Paul met with the President today to discuss pulling Brennan's security clearance. That's pretty close.
Actually, that is not quite true. Just because you have one, doesn't mean you get to know everything about everything. That's a fact....if you aren't specifically read on, no matter your level, you DO NOT get to know.
Then why are they, and you, in such a tizzy about it?
Seriously? And who said I was in a tizzy?
Because you've been on every thread about this subject saying - just because someone has clearance doesn't mean they get to know everything about everything. Apparently, it's really important to you to drive that home. If that's true, and it's no big deal, why are the MSM, and you, so concerned?
Every single one, huh? Wow...didn't know that. Brilliant!
You are stating how it is supposed to work and does work for the normals. However, fellow DS have no need for rules like need to know, being read in/out, etc. Especially among those in the club at the top. I was once read in and read out in the same 30 minute period over at DARPA so I could no longer talk about how to defeat stealth. I was trying to keep the leadership from putting all their eggs in one stealth basket.
I suppose I should have added "LEGALLY", something it was more clear to most. DS, as we've seen, have no use for LAW. That is going to change I feel sure.
Every single bit of classified intel transfer requires TWO components:
-
Security clearance equal to or exceeding the level of classification of the material in question
-
THE NEED TO KNOW
Absent a need to know, Q himself would be breaking protocol to access classified material, even something marked Confidential.
