What in the world am I supposed to be teaching my children?
I am so lost.
Hopeful, but lost.

I understand the frustration, things we don't understand are the root of what frustrates us.
Teaching your children is really preparing them for the world. Read the information with them, watch videos with them and think critically about it, have discussions. If something is bullshit, find out why and add that in to the domain of "things you know". Especially with any of this stuff, very critical eye is necessary. This teaches them adaptability, discernment, critical thinking, and research skills. Super useful for life.
Don't worry if you are not following some of the discussions, just pick something of interest and go from there. No one here has all the answers, nor will outright give them to you, as you need to add things to your bag of "things you know" yourself. It's a process. We are all searching for knowledge, it is important to help each other, but ultimately up to you and your will to accept or reject the info. That's why there are no easy answers, the critical thinking is the hard work. Nor should you allow anyone ever to tell you what to think. You have no fear of asking questions, which is great. This board is happy to help. Carry on and best wishes!

Start with just teaching them to be open minded, critically thinking individuals. And then slowly introduce them to new exciting ideas and viewpoints i.e. things in this tread. Have an open discussion about it and explore the contents together. Simply trying to convince them about everything at once will just cause confusion since everyone else that they meet in life will think the opposité to what's on this board. Just my two cents.
Also know that children KNOW a lot more than you may know.
Guide them for safety, but allow their own free will to guide them to what they seek to learn.

I chose in my past to smoke cigarettes.
Smoking those cigarettes was poisoning me (the child)
I am an uncaring child. I was not taking care of my Self.
I chose now of my own free will too care for my Self now so that I may love my Self now.
I don't smoke cigarettes now
I am a caring child. I have no Self doubt.

Teach them to enjoy the process but don't say it to them directly! Let them be independent but responsible to what they do or think but of course if you're a parent or guardian (teacher figure) then you should be a "dependable" figure in very critical times.
Teaching is hard to understand. One can guide someone into the way or the path - you can lead them the best way and how it's done but in the end will they learn the joy in the process? The discipl__in__e?
I'd rather not reveal or spoil such joy but keep in mind not to influence their dreams to your own gain.
Positive deception is also a good way to teach. If they ask you something directly, indirectly bring them clues or hints but be silent. Most people don't want to be told what to do even if they ask. You can act like a fool, a helpless man, or a silent one "dropping crumbs" if you like. Sounds familiar right?
I'd say critical thinking is good but imagination is way better - you can't teach imagination!
This sounds good. Influence can shape others that is why one should be careful. Bad influence from environment and people/acquantances can promote bad character while too much influence can annoy others or make them distance themselves. Teaching is really a mystery.
Let them build their very own character.
I'd say research writing and philosophy is a good subject to learn at an early age.

Agreed. Wish I had more time to read this. I've been struggling a lot. The best I can do is prepare them for the world, as much as I dislike having to trample their desires at the time, I know it's necessary to create an individual/citizen that can succeed in this world, and this country. I try to share as much water as I can. Every time, and I can see the eyes glaze over sometimes. So I try to simplify. Or I wait until what I feel is the "right" moment.
I greatly appreciate this thread. It brings comfort.
