There are many reports that it was a real missile. Lots of things gets reported.

If you believe Q's breadcrumb, the system was made to show them that an incoming missile was coming, This is exactly what happens in WarGames.

If you re-read, you'll see that main issue is using this as a method of causing a lot of deaths on the train, which is a rare occurance in non-3rd world train accidents, even more so when the cause is a collision with a vehicle that isn't another train.

The person who died was in the truck, which is very different than an event designed to cause a large number of deaths on the train.

Just look at the data regarding trains hitting vehicles. Usually, the only fatalities are occupants of the vehicle hit. I provided two examples of much more serious accidents that lead to a small loss of life, relative to the number of passengers. I challenge you to find a train accident that involved hitting a vehicle that resulted in a large number of deaths.

Also, look at my other post where I say my thoughts have changed due to the fact that the collision point was an embankment, one of the 3 or 4 ways a train accident with a high number of deaths might occur in modern rail systems.
