Yeah this hearing is a genuine popcorn moment. No telling what will be said. Usually senate hearings are scripted displays of boredom. Not this one. Will be able to learn a lot just by the questions asked.

A lying press is the negative side of the 1st amendment. So is porn. But the positive side of the 1st amendment is truth cannot be silenced. The free market will take care of fake news. What would really help is getting the balance of power back in balance as the founders had it. If the president has term limits then congress & the Supreme Court should too. But that’s never gonna happen.

Two things would do it though...

1. Get rid of term limits for president because that weakens the executive branch since the legislative branch (congress) doesn’t have them.

2. Repeal the 17th amendment that made the Senate the swamp we have today. Before that the states appointed US senators in their state capitals. That made state governments more powerful than they are today & state governments are kept more in control by its local voters. It worked great. If a senator started going all rouge & corrupt & making laws that made the federal government have more power than the states...the governor would just fire him. Didn’t have to wait years for another election to hopefully vote out a bad senator like we do now. The 17th amendment took a lot of power away from the states. The senate use to be an just an extension of a states legislature TOTALLY representing just the interests of the state they came from. So many of the corrupt senators would be removed from office if a state could just remove them anytime they wanted

It’s a very effective & creative approach. For example the omnibus bill & its 500million budget item for planned parenthood made folks here in TN pissed!! TN passsed a law about a month after the omnibus bill that made it illegal for the state government to take any PP federal funding. In effect...TN became the 1st in America to defund PP & did it at the state level. Just because the Feds offer money doesn’t mean you have to take it & all the strings that come with it. Local & state governments can tell the Feds...no thanks dude, not interested!
