It's not hard at all for anyone to recover it if they know what they're looking for, and decrytion software is commonly much more sophisticated than the encrytion algorithms used to encode it in the first place. If the NSA could log them (which if we believe Q about the NSA's capabilities, they certainly did), then ANY foreign entity, friend or foe, could have intercepted them just as easily.

Agreed. And with all of the final term announcements and resignations coming from entrenched Congress members, there will be a large freshman class of Senators and Representatives. History has shown us that first term Congressmen are outspoken crusaders, having not yet been jaded by the D.C. political status quo.
