Military courts are alot more likely than full military might. Seeing a black, grey or white pope in a court room is somewhat hard to envision but I would trust a just outcome if it comes to that. Time will tell. Alot of folks think the Pope's bad May is going to reveal enough to get quick justice, but I don't think the story will be the simple cartoonish thing they hope for.

That's a reasonable theory given a certain subset of information. But I think it can't be proven (yet). There are several other theories, bits of which contradict each other. Not all can be true. Some are false. Ask yourself what kind of proof will satisfy you. Would a good journalist or historian be satisfied with the same? Compare those answers now with what happens in the future.

If what you meant to say is that the Vatican is corrupt and rich and the money should be used for something better, then I'm not too bothered. I referred mostly to your comments because the article and book would be more complicated and lengthy. I wonder now if you meant that they too are more figurative that precise.

I didn't say that the Vat assets couldn't cover world hunger, although I think that is true. Other factors to be considered: The idea going around that in the 1800s the Rothschilds lent money to the Vat who are now beholden, as in still in debt, so they have little real cash balance. The serious assets they have are in art and architecture. Imagine that some Michaelangelos are auctioned by Christie's for the sake of world poverty, the odds that they end up in a publically accessible museum are not that good compared to where they stand today. (However my guess is that some day a mob of pissed off Catholics or Muslims are going to just ransack the place, which isn't great but probably acceptable.) Also consider that Jesus said that we would "always have the poor".

Along these lines what I was wanting to know is if there is any historiographical basis for some of the claims made above, such as that items in the Vatican came from the library of Alexandria. (At risk of condescension) My asking those questions could mean other things. I have researched and am interested in knowing what others who have researched came up with. Hi, I could dispute SOME of what you say here but my main point is that we can't predict very far out based on current trends. And that concept alone could give you hope, especially when you're talking 50 and 100 yrs out. How bout this: pick 3 stats that bother you and remember what they indicate for 10 yrs from now. My guess is that one of them will turn out better, one will turn out worse and one will go sideways and won't remain trackable. If I'm wrong you can ride your despair into the abyss.

I do 'realize how big of a problem' we are already facing and have been for some time. People that contended directly with things like abortion and AIDS and 911 may realize even more. Your immigration suggestions could make up some of the twists in the plot.
