I also noticed the "centre" spelling, did a quick DDG search. Got a BBC graphical website that shows factoids as you scroll down a notional descent to the center of the earth.

While there were several interesting bits including the depth of a couple of known DUMBS and a few other things, the only two interesting bits that I found were at the very bottom and one other.

The bottom said (summary) congrats you made it but the pressure is overwhelming and you were cooked long ago.

The other was "hen's egg has cracked at 234 atmospheres"

weird b/c a hen's egg can only support 3 to 4.5 lbs of weight before it cracks. That's a static load-on-one-side type test, not uniform pressure all the way around, so not entirely valid as a comparator.

Did a quick search for the hen's egg thing and didn't find jack, but I didn't look hard at all.

The F-5E Tigers of the aerobatic display team missed their target by about 6 km.

A rather unusual as well as bit embarrassing “incident” occurred to the the Swiss Air Force’s “Patrouille Suisse” Display Team on Saturday Jul. 6, 2019: the team’s jets were scheduled to fly over Langenbruck, in northwestern Switzerland, south of Basel, where the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of Swiss aviation pioneer Oskar Bider was held, but they flew over Mümliswil, missing the target by about 6 km.

“Unfortunate circumstances” were the root cause of the mistake according to a spokesman of the Swiss Air Force. In fact, as reported by Le Matin media outlet, during the approach to the target, the leader of the team spotted a large festival area with a tent, with a tent in Mümliswil, which prompted him to fly over it. The 31st yodel festival in northwestern Switzerland was being held there: people attending this festival enjoyed the unplanned flyover.

Such flyovers are usually flown under VFR (Visual Flight Rules) and VMC (Visual Meteorological Conditions) using maps, clock and visual references on the ground. Moreover, the six obsolete F-5E Tiger jets flown by the team are not equipped with GPS or other modern technologies that would help getting over the right target at the right time.

Some display teams (such as the Frecce Tricolori display team of the Italian Air Force) have their Commander or other team members on the ground talking to the team on the radio to give advice as well as updates on wheather conditions or other events occurring at the location of the flyover (for instance, the presence of a team member on the ground is crucial when the passage must take place at very same time a VIP arrives or when a Head of State lays a wreath of flowers at a monument etc). The lack of visual contact with the formation during the approach to the festival would have helped a team member on the ground recognizing the mistake.

Eighteen suspected gangsters were arrested in Palermo, including Salvatore Gambino, the mayor of the Sicilian town of Torretta, while another was detained in New York. The crackdown comes as police say the Inzerillo clan are seeking to re-establish their old power-base in Sicily with the backing of their Gambino allies in New York.

Two of those arrested - Francesco and Tommaso Inzerillo - are the brother and cousin respectively of Totuccio Inzerillo, a don who was murdered in a vicious war in the 1980s as his family went into self-imposed exile in the US.

Salvatore 'Toto' Riina launched a bloodbath on the Mediterranean island in the 1980s, forcing the Inzerillo family to flee as Riina took over Sicily. The suspects are accused of mafia association, aggravated extortion and fraud while operating wholesale food supplies and gambling dens, ANSA reported. Around £2.7million in real estate and other assets were seized by Italian authorities, CNN reported.

'The investigation, dubbed "New Connection", has registered the strong bond established between Cosa Nostra Palermo and U.S. organised crime, with particular reference to the powerful Gambino crime family of New York,' a police statement said. The Gambino crime operation is one of the five historic Italian-American Mafia families in New York. Past charges against family operatives have included murder, loan sharking and illegal drug distribution.

The reported crime boss of the family, Francesco 'Franky Boy' Cali, was gunned down in front of his Staten Island home in March. Nearly a dozen former cartel associates have testified against Guzman at his federal trial in Brooklyn, New York, but Sanchez was the first female cooperating witness. Guzman has pleaded not guilty to charges of international drug trafficking and conspiracy to murder rivals.

Sanchez, in a blue prison uniform, testified Thursday as Guzman’s wife, Emma Coronel, sat in the courtroom gallery. Sanchez said she met Guzman in 2010 when she was 21 years old.

“Until today I’m confused, I thought it was a relationship romantically, as partners,” Sanchez said, eliciting laughter from Coronel.

‘His home wife’

Even though Sanchez grew close to Guzman, when she would go visit him at his hideout in the mountains in Sinaloa, her eyes would be covered so she wouldn’t know where she was being taken, and her phone was taken away.

The phone was a central part of their life as a couple. Early in their relationship, Guzman had a worker bring her a BlackBerry “that had been fixed so that we could communicate.” At this point, Guzman had been on the run from authorities for nearly a decade after escaping from a Mexican prison in 2001.

Sanchez said the pair talked every day, at all hours of the day, and that Guzman would have someone bring her a new phone every few weeks. A former IT technician for Guzman testified last week that Guzman had him install spyware that would allow him to track phone calls and messages of close associates, lovers and family.
