Iranian Fuel Seized By US For Venezuela 'Sanctions-Busting' Discharges In New York

Recall that in July the US seized 1.1 million barrels of Iranian fuel aboard four privately owned tankers that had been bound for Venezuela. This after a federal court deemed the move was lawful in accord with sanctions on Iran and Venezuela.

That confiscated gasoline was previously bound for Houston, according to top US administration official statements; however, it was recently rerouted, with at least half of it discharged in New York on Thursday.

Vessel tracking data shows that the Singapore-flagged Maersk Progress unloaded its cargo there, estimated at 557,000 barrels of gasoline, according to Reuters.

"The Maersk Progress was due to arrive in Houston last month, but changed its route. Euroforce, a second tanker carrying some of the seized cargo, has been off the coast of Texas since Sept. 9," Reuters writes.

Meanwhile the private owners of four Iranian fuel cargoes are attempting to sue and get the seizure ruling overturned in US District Court, basing their argument primarily on claims that the customers are in Peru and Colombia, and not blacklisted Maduro's Venezuela.

Meanwhile, officials in Tehran recently mocked the whole episode, claiming the seized fuel was not Iran's at all, stating that it had already been sold to international customers.

Even as the alleged Iranian fuel was being discharged in New York, Venezuela hailed a separate "victory" this past week :

Two Iranian fuel tankers have reportedly reached Venezuela with a third ship set to dock soon. Their arrival constitutes a success for the two nations sanctioned by the United States following an August seizure of such fuel.

The Iran-flagged ship Forest reached a Venezuelan port Tuesday. A second Iranian ship, the Fortune, entered Venezuelan waters Wednesday. The Forest brought 275,000 barrels of gasoline, The Associated Press reported.

A third Iranian ship, the Faxon, is expected to arrive this weekend; the three are collectively carrying around 815,000 barrels of fuel in total, the AP said.

More such maneuvering and controversy regarding cargo on the high seas is expected in the coming months, given Iran and Venezuela's deepening trade and military ties.

'This will show the real enthusiasm behind the president’s reelection,' the campaign official said

EXCLUSIVE: The Trump campaign is keeping at “full speed” as President Trump fights the novel coronavirus, with a new “Operation MAGA” that includes events featuring Vice President Pence and members of the Trump family in key battleground states across the country, Fox News has learned.

The new operation comes after the president tested positive for COVID-19 and is being treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien, who also tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, is working remotely, but is not slowing down, according to a senior campaign official.

“Bill is working remotely, but absolutely remains in total control of the campaign,” the official told Fox News, adding that Stepien’s longtime ally, deputy campaign manager Justin Clark, remains at campaign headquarters.

The official told Fox News that early Saturday morning, Stepien, Clark and senior adviser Jason Miller held a call with campaign communications, operations and political teams to describe the launch of “Operation MAGA” and get the teams working on the new initiative and to “rally everybody for the last 30 days” of the campaign.

The official said Stepien was planning to host two other conference calls Saturday afternoon – one with the entire campaign staff, and the other with grassroots leaders from across the country. The official told Fox News that the vice president is expected to participate in one of the calls.

“Operation MAGA will fire up the entire MAGA universe to keep President Trump’s campaign at full speed until our Commander-in-Chief returns to the campaign trail,” Stepien told Fox News. “Vice President Mike Pence, the First Family, our coalitions, and our grassroots supporters will be out in full force to show the real enthusiasm behind the President’s re-election and to show we’re working as hard as he always does."

“Operation MAGA” is set to begin with virtual events, featuring key Trump surrogates, leading up to the vice presidential debate between Pence and Biden running mate Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., which is set to take place Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

After the debate, “Operation MAGA” is set to shift back to in-person events, beginning with Pence’s travel to Arizona.

“While he is on the road, the vice president will stop in Indiana so that he can vote early in his home state,” a campaign official said. “He will then continue on to other events in key states which we have yet to announce.”

“Operation MAGA” is also set to include events featuring the president’s children – Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump and his wife, Lara Trump.

The campaign will also host events with coalitions in key states, including, but not limited to “Women for Trump,” “Black Voices for Trump” and “Latinos for Trump,” the official said.

A campaign official told Fox News that at these events the campaign plans to continue taking “every precaution for the health and safety of participants and attendees.” The official told Fox News that the campaign has taken “great care” to ensure that attendees of the events are “safe,” noting that at each campaign event there are temperature checks, and that staff hand out face masks and hand sanitizer.

Reporters should be especially vigilant of their health if they’ve attended President Trump’s Rose Garden event Saturday for his Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett or any other events over that weekend, Miller added.

Former Mayor of Scranton Bill Courtright has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for collecting bribes from vendors who did business with the city in a pay-to-play scheme. Courtright shook down businesses for bribes & campaign contributions.

The former mayor of Scranton, Pennsylvania, was sentenced Friday to seven years in federal prison on charges that he shook down businesses for bribes and campaign contributions.

Bill Courtright resigned last year as mayor of the city of 78,000 and pleaded guilty to bribery, extortion and conspiracy. Prosecutors said Courtright took bribes from a company that had a contract with the city to collect delinquent taxes and garbage fees.

Courtright must surrender to serve his prison sentence by Oct. 30, The (Scranton) Times-Tribune reported. U.S. District Judge Malachy Mannion also ordered Courtright to pay a fine of $25,300.

Courtright told the judge Friday that he “betrayed” Scranton residents, adding: “As hard as I try, I can’t give you an answer why I did what I did. I should have known better.”

Courtright, 63, served as Scranton’s mayor from 2014 until 2019.

Ex-coal executive sentenced to 5 years in prison for $20 million fraud scheme

A former Signal Peak mining executive Larry Price was sentenced to 5 years in prison for $20M fraud scheme. Price used his role as a mining expert to defraud 3 coal-mining firms which he used to finance the construction of his 26,000-square-foot home.

A former Signal Peak mining executive and developer of Billings’ largest mansion was sentenced Friday to five years in federal prison and three years supervised release for a $20 million fraud scheme.

Larry Wayne Price Jr., 40 of Billings, pleaded guilty in December 2018 to three counts of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering and making false official statements, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme. Price was released and allowed to report to prison.

Prosecutors said in court documents that he used his role as a mining expert to defraud three coal-mining firms, including his employer, Signal Peak in Roundup, out of about $20 million, which he used to finance construction of the 26,000-square-foot home on Canyonwood Drive in the Ironwood subdivision.

Restitution will be determined later.

“The defendant’s crimes resulted in staggering financial losses and harm to many people, including some who lost their entire life’s savings, all so he could live in luxury. Today’s sentence is a warning to anyone considering looking for ‘easy money’ from others: You will be caught and you will go to prison. This case also serves as a reminder to all investors to be sure to do thorough due diligence before investing,” Alme said in a statement.

Price was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dana L. Christensen of Missoula.

In addition to Signal Peak, the other victims in Price’s scheme were two Wyoming firms looking at coal-mining investments: Ninety M LLC and Three Blind Mice LLC.

In April 2018, Price learned that representatives of Ninety M were questioning him about fraudulent transactions he made while representing them in their efforts to develop a coal mine in Virginia, prosecutors said.

He hid out in a house in Virginia and his wife reported him missing. When he was found later by Virginia law enforcement on the side of a road, he lied and said he had been kidnapped by a motorcycle gang, authorities said.

Price knew his statements about his alleged kidnapping were false and that he was not abducted by anyone. The false statements cost the government significant investigative resources and hampered the investigation into Price’s own wrongdoing, prosecutors stated.

The Billings mansion has never been occupied and is listed for $13.9 million.

As a futuristic, hi-tech dystopia increasingly takes shape around us, the concept of the Panopticon is more relevant than ever as it functions as the underpinning of the ever-growing mass surveillance grid.

For those who are not so familiar with 18th century social philosophy, a Panopticon was originally the design of a prison building by an English philosopher named Jeremy Bentham. The Panopticon prison’s architecture would allow one guard in a central guard tower to observe every inmate without those prisoners knowing that they were being observed, and so those incarcerated were left to assume that they were actually being observed all of the time. This prison would, in theory, allow that singular guard to maintain order over every inmate.

Much later, in the 20th century, the famous French philosopher, Michel Foucault, would use the concept of Bentham’s original Panopticon as a way to describe and explore “disciplinary power”. According to Foucault’s work, disciplinary power had been successful due to its utilisation of three technologies; hierarchical observation; normalising judgment; and examinations. Hierarchical observation refers to the fact that the observer in a Panopticon can be of any hierarchical position within the observing body, meaning that a prison guard, supervisor, or a governor could be the person viewing the inmates. Foucault would also insist that the normalisation of judgement is imperative for disciplinary power to exist. The final principle, the examination, is used to combine the first two principles of the observations and the resulting judgements to help decide on whether further actions should be taken or punitive measures be applied.

Among the most notable of Foucault’s analyses of the utility of the Panopticon is the following quote from his book Discipline and Punish: “The major effect of the panopticon is to induce in the inmate a state of consciousness and permanent visibility that assures the automatic functioning of power.” In other words, the uncertainty of whether or not an individual is being constantly watched induces obedience in that individual, allowing only a few to control the many.

In addition to Foucault, the concept of the Panopticon has been vigorously studied over the past few centuries and it has special relevance in understanding modern forms of mass surveillance. The aim of many of the modern day state surveillance apparatus function under a similar doctrine to the original ideology behind the invention of the Panopticon.

The British GCHQ, the US’s NSA, the Israeli’s Unit 8200, among many others, are the all seeing eyes of national intelligence agencies who have longed for a way to watch their populations remotely, i.e. online, without their citizens knowing whether or not they’re actually being observed. One man has strived to be at the center of the growing global Panopticon, from his base in the Panopticon’s birthplace — Britain. His name is Daniel Korski.

Nicole Junkermann and Daniel Korski have many common interests in the big tech sector. The controversial club has exploded into the mainstream following the British clothing firm banning their signature black and yellow polo shirts and being name-checked in the US presidential debate by Biden and Trump.

The Proud Boys have dominated the news since Donald Trump ordered them to “stand down, and stand by.” The president was asked about them during this week’s live debate with Joe Biden. But the group’s most senior figure in Europe can’t see what all the fuss is about – he thinks they’re actually “pretty boring.”

Using the pseudonym J.T Rockefeller, he’s a small business owner in his mid-30s, and spoke exclusively to RT.

J.T said: “Our stance has always been, don’t talk to the media – that’s in our code of conduct and only I can authorise it. But we as the leadership felt it was a good opportunity to put our point across now. We’ve had lots of requests from the media but if we’re completely honest, one of my fears is we would be quite boring to journalists.

“They’re looking for something spicy, for us to say we hate this group of people and sell it as something it isn’t. Actually we’re quite boring, not to our members, but for everyone else.”

Today's headlines announced Donald and Melania Trump "tested positive" for covid-19. Another claims nineteen thousand Amazon workers "got" covid-19 on the job. Both of these pseudostories are sure to ignite another absurd media frenzy.

As always, the story keeps changing: Remember ventilators, flatten the curve, the next two weeks are crucial, etc.? Remember Nancy Pelosi in Chinatown back in February, urging everyone to visit? Remember Fauci dismissing masks as useless? Why should we believe anything the political/media complex tells us now?

So what do these headlines really mean? What exactly is a covid "case"?

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, most US media outlets have been exceedingly credulous and complicit in their reporting. Journalists almost uniformly promote what we can call the "prolockdown" narrative, which is to wildly exaggerate the risks from covid-19 to serve a political agenda. They may be motivated to hurt Trump politically, to promote a more socialist "new normal," or simply to drive more clicks and views. Bad news sells. But the bias is clear and undeniable.

This explains why media outlets use the terms "case" and "infection" so loosely, to the point of actively misinforming the public. All of the endless talk about testing, testing, testing served to obscure two important facts. First, the tests themselves are almost laughably unreliable in producing both false positives and negatives. And what is the point? Are we going to test people again and again, every time they go out to the grocery or bump into a neighbor? Second, detecting virus particles or droplets in a human's respiratory tract tells us very little. It certainly does not tell us they are sick, or transmitting sickness to anyone.

Take a perfectly healthy person with no particular symptoms and swab the inside of their nose. If the culture shows the presence of staphylococcus aureus, do we insist they have a staph infection? When someone drives to work without incident or accident, do we create statistics about their exposure to traffic?

—A virus is not a disease. Only a very small percentage of those exposed to the virus itself—SARS-CoV-2—show any kind of acute respiratory symptoms, or what we can call "coronavirus disease."

The only meaningful statistics show the incidence of serious illness, hospitalizations, and deaths. The single most important statistic among these is the infection fatality rate (IFR). Data collected through July shows that the IFR for those under age forty-five is actually lower than that of the common flu. The covid-19 IFR rises for those over fifty, but it is hardly a death sentence. And the data does not segregate those with preexisting health issues caused by obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. If we could see data only for reasonably healthy people under fifty, the numbers would be even more reassuring.

Russian journalist dies after setting herself on fire outside government building

A Russian journalist died after setting herself on fire outside a government building Friday — writing on Facebook an hour before her suicide, “Blame the Russian Federation for my death.”

Irina Slavina, editor-in-chief of the small local news outlet Koza Press, self-immolated in front of the local branch of the interior ministry in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, about 260 miles east of Moscow.

About an hour before her death, Slavina penned a foreboding message on Facebook directing followers to blame Russia for her death. A day before, she wrote that police raided her apartment in search of pro-democracy materials.

Slavina, who ran a press shop that billed itself as having “no censorship” and “no orders ‘from above,’” said she was being probed for ties to the Open Russia opposition group, which is financed by a fierce critic of the Kremlin, Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

During the raid, cops swarmed her apartment, hunting for “brochures, leaflets and accounts” tied to the group and left with her notebooks, laptop and phones, as well as her daughter’s laptop and her husband’s phones, she wrote on Facebook Thursday.

“I’m left without the means of production,” she wrote of the event.

Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed it was opening an investigation into a self-immolation, but did not confirm her name in its statement.

The committee’s local branch in the Nizhny Novgorod region later said Slavina’s self-immolation had nothing to do with the searches carried out at her apartment on the previous day.

However, supporters of the Russian opposition movement took to social media to say Slavina had been under significant pressure from authorities for years.

“Over the past years security officials have subjected her to endless persecution because of her opposition (activities),” Dmitry Gudkov, an opposition politician, wrote on Instagram.

“What a nightmare,” another Kremlin critic, Ilya Yashin, wrote on Twitter.

“All of these cases of police amusing themselves, these shows of men in masks — these are not games. The government is truly breaking people psychologically.”

Leftists Chant ‘F*ck Trump’ Outside Walter Reed Hospital – ‘I Hope He Dies!’

President Trump was in the Walter Reed hospital for less than 12 hours on Friday before leftists gathered outside to chant for the president’s demise.

Trump supporters waited outside the facility, praying for the president’s recovery. A contingent of his detractors grew, too.

“Fuck Donald Trump,” one woman chanted, waving her middle finger in the air:

“Your president is dying, ahh!” another woman taunted.

Others hoped for Trump’s death:

One woman holding a “F*ck Trump” sign admitted she hopes he dies.

“Wah, wah, your leader’s gonna die!” she shouted.

“I hope he dies!”

“We don’t care how he’s feeling,” one of the protesters told Jack Posobiec of One America News.

The same woman was accused of confronting and cussing out children:
