Neighbors shocked by death of 9-year-old boy, arrest of aunt

A woman in Clinton County is locked up after her 9-year-old nephew was found dead in her Lock Haven apartment on Monday.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Jamie Jackson, 35, is accused of killing her 9-year-old nephew Anson Stover in a Lock Haven apartment over the weekend. Police discovered the boy's body in the upstairs bathroom on November 30.

According to the autopsy report, the child had been abused. His body had bruises, and cigarette burns all the way from his head to his feet.

The child also had a significant amount of bleeding on the brain and blood in his spinal fluid.

Folks in lock haven areshockedit happened in their community. (just wait)

Police say Jackson tried to cover up the crime scene by washing the boy's clothes and the carpet of his bedroom where the abuse occurred.

Jackson told police that she found the child unresponsive on his bedroom floor on November 28 and moved him to the bathtub. Police did not discover the body until November 30, when Jackson's father contacted them. Jackson told police that she believed the child was just faking it, and that is why she did not contact them.

Anson Stover was not the only child living in the apartment. Jackson was also caring for five other children.

Police haven't said where the other children are staying now.

American Oligarchy: Top Spenders Won Nearly 90% Of 2020 Races

As it has for the past two decades, money performed well this election cycle, helping candidates from both sides of the aisle win. Across the board, 88 percent of congressional races were won by the candidate who spent the most.

Historically, this trend is stronger in the House than the Senate and 2020 was no exception. This year, the top-spending House candidate won 89.2 percent of the time. In the Senate, the top-spender won 71.9 percent of the time, a record low in recent years.

But money didn’t win every race. In the Senate, Democrats lost races even after raising unprecedented amounts of money. That same dynamic played out in toss-up House races. Meanwhile, GOP House challengers spent big in Blue districts, but lost big, too.

While candidate spending was, overall, a strong predictor of who would win a race in 2020, outside spending also played a role. Since the 2010 Citizens United v. FEC decision, super PACs and “dark money” groups have poured billions of dollars into U.S. elections. This year, over 70 percent of House races were won by the candidate with greater support from outside groups. In the Senate, that number was much lower, about 44 percent.

However, when outside groups and candidate committees collectively spent more, House candidates won over 90 percent of the time and Senate candidates won almost 69 percent of the time. These win rates are nearly identical to win rates of candidate spending alone, but jump for GOP House candidates. Republicans won 81.4 percent of House races when their candidate spent the most but it rises to 85.6 percent when outside spending is added in

In the 10 most expensive House races by candidate spending, all but one of the winners was the top-spender. In Minnesota’s 5th District, incumbent Rep. Ilhan Omar spent $4.5 million less than her opponent Lacy Johnson and crushed the Republican by nearly 40 points.

Gen. Flynn told Lou Dobbs it was a difficult decision to take a pardon but the Justice system he was facing was not working the way it was supposed to work.

Former CEO and Founder of Technology Company Pleads Guilty to Investment Fraud Scheme

The former chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder of Trustify, Inc. (Trustify), a privately-held technology company founded in 2015 and based in Arlington, Virginia, pleaded guilty today to his involvement in a fraud scheme resulting in millions of dollars of losses to investors.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian C. Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney G. Zachary Terwilliger for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Assistant Director in Charge Steven M. D’Antuono of the FBI’s Washington Field Office made the announcement.

Daniel Boice, 41, of Alexandria, Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of securities fraud and one count of wire fraud before Senior United States District Judge T.S. Ellis III of the Eastern District of Virginia. Sentencing is scheduled for March 19, 2021.

According to admissions made in connection with the plea agreement, beginning in 2015, Boice fraudulently solicited investments in Trustify, a privately held technology start-up company that connected customers with private investigators. Boice raised approximately $18.5 million from over 90 investors by, among other things, falsely overstating Trustify’s financial performance. Despite representing to investors that their funds would go towards operating and growing Trustify’s business, Boice diverted at least $3.7 million for his own benefit and to fund his lifestyle. This included the purchase of a home in Alexandria, Virginia, travel by private jet, and furnishing a seaside vacation home.

The FBI’s Washington Field Office is investigating the case. Trial Attorney Blake Goebel of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell Carlberg of the Eastern District of Virginia are prosecuting the case.

When Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis shut down eateries in Larimer County to slow the spread of the coronavirus, restaurant owner Clay Caldwell began lobbying to keep his shop open.

“We just want to open and earn our own living,” said Caldwell, proprietor and chef of Betta Gumbo, which serves Southern fare in Loveland, Colorado, the second-most populous municipality in Larimer County.

Now, Caldwell is fighting orders to close the restaurant and threatening to disregard restrictions.

The county on Nov. 24 moved to a more restrictive status because of an increase in virus cases. WhenCaldwell’s employees heard about the shutdown, they asked him to oppose it.“They’re the ones who actually came to me and said, ‘Listen, we don’t like what we’re hearing, that we’re going to close,’” he said.

Some of his employees said that without the work, they would be unable to make rent, even with unemployment benefits, and that their landlords were not willing to provide them any relief. Caldwell told them that he would not close.

“I said, ‘I will fight this. I’ll stand up,’” he said.

"It’s not about politics. It’s about the right to survive,” he said.

Caldwell closed his indoor dining room for the Thanksgiving holiday but reopened it on Nov. 27 to a throng of customers, despite the shutdown order.

“We had a line out the door. My first guests that came in drove three hours one-way to stand with us. It’s been like that every minute,” he said.

Regulators from the county’s health department were also there to verify that he was open during the shutdown and violating the law.

“We saw them standing … taking photos and then leaving. A lot of intimidation is being sent to us,” Caldwell said.He also submitted an application the governor’s office that, if approved, would allow them to stay open during the shutdown order at a reduced capacity. Approval is dependent on the establishment meeting certain safety requirements.

“Our industry is highly regulated when it comes to sanitation, plus we’ve added so many more levels of sanitation. … We have one person on every shift that does nothing but clean,” Caldwell said.

Despite his pledge to remain open during the shutdown, he closed his restaurant shortly after the health department officials were at his establishment to begin negotiating with the governor's office on how he could reopen.

“I’m going to close my dining room and give the governor a win,” he said.

Still, if the governor rejects their application, Caldwell might reopen his restaurant anyway.

“If he doesn’t [agree with the application], we can open back up and continue on,” he said.

Caldwell originally opened his restaurant in February 2013 after growing weary of working in fine-dining establishments, such as the Ritz Carlton.

"I wanted to do something that represented my heritage and my experience growing up,” he said.

Caldwell was raised in Arkansas and wanted to recreate the Southern hospitality that he experienced growing up.

In the South,if you come into neighbor’s back door, there’s a piece of pie and a cup of coffee there on the kitchen table, and you share life together,” he said.

Georgia Video Footage Allegedly Shows Poll Workers Staying Behind, Producing ‘Suitcases of Ballots’

President Donald Trump’s legal team on Dec. 3 presented surveillance footage at a Georgia state legislature hearing that appears to show ballot-counting workers telling poll observers late at night on Election Day to leave before continuing to count and pulling out what appears to be suitcases filled with ballots.

A spokesperson for Fulton County, in an email to The Epoch Times, did not dispute the authenticity of the video.

“To date, we are aware of no credible reports of voter fraud or wrongdoing in Fulton County. Any credible report of such activity will be investigated and addressed as provided by Georgia law,” the spokesperson said.

In the hearing on Dec. 3, Jackie Pick, a lawyer who is volunteering with the campaign’s legal case, said the team received video footage from State Farm Arena’s vote-tabulation center in Fulton County, Georgia. The team said that GOP poll watchers weren’t allowed to watch the counting process in the poll center.

According to Pick, an unusual occurrence took place later in the evening at around 10 p.m. local time. A woman—described as a blonde woman with braids—told workers to stop counting and notified everyone to go home.

Describing the video footage, Pick said, “Everyone clears out, including the Republican observers and the press, but four people stay behind and continue counting and tabulating well into the night.” The four counted unobserved until about 1 a.m.

Pick said that video footage shows Fulton County election workers waiting at their scanning areas until GOP poll watchers and reporters left the room before they started “scanning ballots,” ostensibly without any observation. Pick noted that this contravenes state and county law. More

This evening I saw a good sign.

A horse crossed the sky against the setting sun.
