A state grand jury has decided to indict two women in Arizona’s Yuma County for voter fraud, with an affidavit alleging they participated in illegal β€œballot harvesting” of mail-in ballots.

What’s Merry about all this, you ask? We’re fighting β€” it’s cold, we aren’t home. All true but what has the proud Eagle Division accomplished with its worthy comrades the 10th Armored Division, the 705th Tank Destroyer Battalion and all the rest? Just this: We have stopped cold everything that has been thrown at us from the North, East, South and West. We have identifications from four German Panzer Divisions, two German Infantry Divisions and one German Parachute Division. These units, spearheading the last desperate German lunge, were headed straight west for key points when the Eagle Division was hurriedly ordered to stem the advance. How effectively this was done will be written in history; not alone in our Division’s glorious history but in World history. The Germans actually did surround us, their radios blared our doom. Their Commander demanded our surrender in the following imprudent arrogance:

 

December 22nd 1944

 

β€œTo the U. S. A. Commander of the encircled town of Bastogne.

 

The fortune of war is changing. This time the U. S. A. forces in and near Bastogne have been encircled by strong German armored units. More German armored units have crossed the river Ourthe near Ortheuville, have taken Marche and reached St. Hubert by passing through Hompres-Sibret-Tillet. Libramont is in German hands.

 

There is only one possibility to save the encircled U. S. A. Troops from total annihilation: that is the honorable surrender of the encircled town. In order to think it over a term of two hours will be granted beginning with the presentation of this note.

 

If this proposal should be rejected the German Artillery Corps and six heavy A. A. Battalions are ready to annihilate the U. S. A. Troops in and near Bastogne. The order for firing will be given immediately after this two hour’s term.

 

All the serious civilian losses caused by this Artillery fire would not correspond with the well known American humanity.

On July 31, the bureau launched Crossfire Hurricane. An internal memo stated that β€œthis investigation is being opened to determine whether individual(s) associated with the Trump campaign are witting of and/or coordinating activities with the Government of Russia.” The decisive voice was E.W. β€œBill” Priestap, a career official then heading the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division, who told Horowitz that the bureau was β€œobligated” to conduct the investigation.

 

So far, so good. Horowitz’s report concluded that the FBI’s decision to investigate the Trump team had an appropriate β€œauthorized purpose.”

 

But the inquiry began to jump the tracks in October 2016, when the FBI sought authority for intrusive spying on Page. Horowitz found that bureau officials supplied incomplete or misleading information to support their request to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court for the October warrant for Page and for three renewals that carried the targeting through September 2017.

 

One abuse was especially outrageous: As the FBI pressed for the Page FISA warrants, it overlooked an August 2016 CIA message that Page had been an occasional β€œoperational contact” for the agency. That’s not the same as a vetted agent, but it should have made FBI officials wonder whether their assumptions about Page’s possible disloyalty and double-dealing were justified.

 

The CIA told the bureau that Page had been approved as a contact from 2008 to 2013 and that he had β€œcandidly described his contact” with a Russian intelligence officer the bureau feared had recruited him. The FBI ignored this and other exculpatory information.

 

Worse still, a mid-level FBI official in the office of general counsel, after checking with the CIA in June 2017 about the agency’s past relationship with Page, inaccurately told a colleague that the CIA β€œconfirmed explicitly he was never a source” and then inserted in a CIA email that Page was β€œnot a source.”

 

The FBI official apparently lied because he wanted to avoid a β€œterrible footnote” in the latest FISA renewal, admitting the embarrassing fact that the bureau had overlooked the CIA’s relationship with Page in previous filings, according to Horowitz’s narrative. The official has been fired and is under criminal investigation.

 

Why didn’t the CIA speak up, as Page was being pilloried in public leaks? That’s another good question.

 

Some Republicans have seen a deep-state conspiracy in these actions. But to me, the Horowitz report suggests the opposite. The intelligence community was so sloppy and disorganized β€” and so disoriented by the Trump investigation β€” that it couldn’t coordinate simple tasks, let alone organize a plot.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has accused the founder of hedge fund Virgil Capital which specializes in cryptocurrency arbitrage, of fraud.

Stefan Qin, the 23-year-old founder of Virgil Capital has been accused by the SEC of β€œfabricated records,” for failing to redeem $3.5 million in investments and attempting to withdraw $1.7 million in investor funds to pay off Chinese loan sharks, the SEC said..

On Tuesday, the SEC applied to the U.S. District Judge Lorna Schofield for an emergency order to suspend $25 million in digital assets owned by another fund managed by Qin.

The SEC accuses Qin of fraud involving the Virgil Sigma Fund LP, of New York, and VQR Multistrategy Fund LP, of the Cayman Islands.

The hedge fund manager is being accused of altering spreadsheet tracking investments at 39 cryptocurrency trading platforms in 2019.

Earlier this year Qin falsely informed investors looking to redeem $3.5 million investments from their funds that the money would be moved to the VQR Multistrategy Fund - the funds were not been transferred, according to the SEC.

Qin also asked VQR head trader Antonio Hallak to assist with withdrawing $1.7 million from the fund, claiming he had borrowed money from Chinese loan sharks to invest in the Sigma fund, according to Reuters.

Qin, whom the SEC said is believed to be currently in South Korea, is prepared to cooperate with the SEC and have a "fulsome set of facts" and is "committed to ensuring that no investors are harmed." said his lawyers, Reuters said.

The SEC is seeking an order permanently restraining Qin from participating in the sale, issuance, purchase or offer of any security except on his personal account, a disgorgement of profits and civil penalties.
