Not only are there large scale outages of electricity, also, alot of residential Texans reporting no water.

That is a gimme for rural Tx. No power, no power to run the well, but in urban areas, that's just strange. Usually they still have water.

Would it have pissed you off if Trump had done some infrastructure projects (I remember a promise of a $1 trillion investment) and built a coast to coast bullet train for public transportation, getting rid of that antiquated AMTRAK system? Instead of a 3 day trip, a 6 hour trip?

Democratic congressman sues Trump over role in Capitol riot

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Democratic congressman accused Donald Trump in a federal lawsuit on Tuesday of inciting the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and of conspiring with his lawyer and extremist groups to try to prevent the Senate from certifying the results of the presidential election he lost to Joe Biden.

The lawsuit from Mississippi's Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is part of an expected wave of litigation over the Jan. 6 riot and is believed to be the first filed by a member of Congress. It seeks unspecified punitive and compensatory damages.

The case also names as defendants the Republican former president's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and groups including the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, extremist organizations that had members charged by the Justice Department with taking part in the siege.

Lawyers for Trump have denied that he incited the riot. A Trump adviser didn't immediately comment about the lawsuit on Tuesday, and a lawyer for Giuliani did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

The suit, filed in federal court in Washington under a Reconstruction-era law known as the Ku Klux Klan Act, comes three days after Trump was acquitted in a Senate impeachment trial that centered on allegations that he incited the riot, in which five people died. That acquittal is likely to open the door to fresh legal scrutiny over Trump's actions before and during the siege.

Even some Republicans who voted to acquit Trump on Saturday acknowledged that the more proper venue to deal with Trump was in the courts, especially now that he has left the White House and lost certain legal protections that shielded him as president.

The suit traces the drawn-out effort by Trump and Giuliani to cast doubt on the election results even though courts across the country, and state election officials, repeatedly rejected their baseless allegations of fraud. Despite evidence to the contrary, the suit says, the men portrayed the election as stolen while Trump “endorsed rather than discouraged" threats of violence from his angry supporters in the weeks leading up to the assault on the Capitol.

“The carefully orchestrated series of events that unfolded at the Save America rally and the storming of the Capitol was no accident or coincidence,” the suit says. “It was the intended and foreseeable culmination of a carefully coordinated campaign to interfere with the legal process required to confirm the tally of votes cast in the Electoral College.”

Presidents are historically afforded broad immunity from lawsuits for actions they take in their role as commander in chief. But the lawsuit filed Tuesday was brought against Trump in his personal, not official, capacity and alleges that none of the behavior at issue had to do with his responsibilities as president.

“Inciting a riot, or attempting to interfere with the congressional efforts to ratify the results of the election that are commended by the Constitution, could not conceivably be within the scope of ordinary responsibilities of the president,” Joseph Sellers, a Washington lawyer who along with the NAACP filed the lawsuit on Thompson’s behalf, said in an interview.

“In this respect, because of his conduct, he is just like any other private citizen,” Sellers said.

Though the impeachment case focused squarely on accusations of incitement, the lawsuit more broadly accuses Trump of conspiring to disrupt the constitutional activities of Congress — namely, the certification of election results establishing Biden as the rightful winner — through a monthslong effort to discredit the outcome and to lean on individual states and his own vice president to overturn the contest.

The case against Trump was brought under a provision of the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, which was passed in response to KKK violence and prohibits violence or intimidation meant to prevent Congress or other federal officials from carrying out their constitutional duties.

“Fortunately, this hasn't been used very much," Sellers said. “But what we see here is so unprecedented that it's really reminiscent of what gave rise to the enactment of this legislation right after the Civil War.”

Wind-Powered Electricity Generation

Wind turbines have fairly high power densities when the rate measures the flux of wind’s kinetic energy moving through the working surface (the area swept by blades) of this now so popular energy converter. In the windiest, mid-continental regions of America this power density is commonly above 400 W/m2 – but power density expressed as electricity generated per m2 of the area occupied by a large wind farm is a small fraction of that high rate. This is primarily due to necessarily generous spacing of wind turbines (no less than five and up to ten rotor diameters) that is required in order to minimize wake interference. As a result, even a wind farm composed of large 3 MW Vestas turbines with a rotor diameter of 112 m and spacing of six diameters apart will have peak power density of 6.6 W/m2 and even a relatively high average capacity factor of 30% would bring that down to only about 2 W/m2.

Actual power densities vary with average wind speeds and turbine sizes. Altamont, America’s pioneering large wind farm in California, rates only 0.6 W/m2, Puget Sound Energy’s Wild Horse (with a high capacity factor of 32%) has power density of 2 W/m2. The world’s largest offshore wind installation, London Array in the outer Thames estuary – designed to have a capacity of 1 GWp, annual generation of 31 TWh (354 MW) and an area of 245 km2 – will have power density of just 1.44 W/m2. A good approximation of expected power densities for large scale wind generation (year-round average, not the peak power) should not be thus higher than 2 W/m2. If 10% of the US electricity generated in 2009 (395 TWh or 45 GW) were to be produced by large wind farms their area would have to cover at least 22,500 km2, roughly the size of New Hampshire.

For everyone wondering why we’re having forced outages in Texas. Here’s a simple breakdown of the situation we are in.

Electrical service is broken down into the following components: generators (the ones making electricity), wires companies (the ones that own the transmission lines, substations and distribution infrastructure), energy providers (they sell the electricity to consumer and who you get your monthly bill from) and lastly ERCOT (they own and operate the statewide electric grid in Texas).

Recent government initiatives in the past few years have called for the promotion of “green” energy. This means that people want more renewable sources such as solar or wind generators, while urging for the shutdown of our traditional nuclear, coal and natural gas plants. Every year we’re seeing more of the latter type of generators being forced to shutdown their production/plants.

What does this mean during extreme weather events? During cold temperatures like the ones experienced today people draw more load onto the system from electric heaters, ovens, stoves, etc. being run overtime. This additional load required extra generation (electricity being produced) to supply the power needs. The green energy we’re promoting doesn’t work during this type of weather. Windmills are currently frozen in place and solar plants aren’t producing enough with the lack of sunlight. Our traditional plants (coal, nuclear, natural gas) we used to rely on have been shutdown due to the environmental efforts. They can’t give us the supply that was once covered by them.

So what now? The grid operator (ERCOT) can’t let the demand (load) get higher than the supply (generation) since it could lead to a statewide outage. That’s why they have now issued the forced outages to areas with high loads to try to keep the grid stable. Now the utilities (owners of the transmission lines, substations and distribution lines) are being forced to cut power. This will keep occurring until load needs can match what the generators can supply.

This is why it’s important to understand the full effect of the legislature that is being pushed at a state and federal level. Next time a green initiative is being completely pushed by any politicians it is good to take a step back to think of the full picture. I’m not saying green energy is bad, but it’s also not the only solution. Before pushing to shut off generators again, let’s make sure we won’t end up in a deficient.

If you follow the firearms industry even slightly, you know that gun laws are continually changing. Every year, senators, members of Congress, and local government pass new legislation barring the use of or the purchase of some types of firearm, accessory, or magazine. How is one to keep up with the never-ending change? What about lowers? Are 80% lowers legal? In most states, yes.

What is an 80% Lower?

First, before we dive into the legalities of 80% lowers, let’s determine precisely what an 80 lower is or isn’t.

To put it plainly, an 80% lower is a receiver blank. It is not legally a firearm — more of a hunk of metal — because the key components have not yet been drilled. The drilling is up to you. Once you receive your new lower, your job is to cut and drill the blank until it becomes a stripped lower receiver. Once you are done, you will have it all — safety pinholes, trigger, and more.

Are 80% Lowers Legal?

Yes, absolutely. As a receiver blank is technically not a firearm, it is legal to purchase and own in most states. That being said, some states do have restrictions regarding “ghost guns” or 80% firearms.

New Jersey — Though receiver blanks are not firearms, New Jersey A.G. Gurbir Grewal demanded firearm retailers stop selling 80% lowers and “ghost guns.” He threatened fines and legal action to those who sold or own any.

Washington — Washington recently passed House Bill 1739, which bans the sale of “undetectable firearms” or “ghost guns.” You cannot purchase, own, or construct an 80% polymer lower in the state. However, you may buy aluminum lowers.

New York — In September 2019, the New York Attorney General submitted numerous Cease and Desist letters to retailers and manufacturers selling 80% lowers and kits. He claimed these products were illegal. Since then, New York has followed California in banning fixed magazines from AR-15s.

California — California allows 80% lowers and receiver blanks. However, before constructing an 80% AR-15 from a blank, California residents must apply for a serial number for their firearm via the California Department of Justice. This requirement stems from A.B.857, a bill that went into effect on July 1st, 2018.

Connecticut — Connecticut passed Substitute House Bill No. 7219, Public Act No. 19-6, effectively banning the shipment and ownership of 80% lowers and receiver blanks.

Do I Require an FFL?

No, an FFL is not required to purchase an 80% lower or build an AR-15 from a receiver blank. As the blank is not yet considered a firearm, it does not follow the same rules and regulations set forth by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives).

Do I Need a Serial Number On My 80% Lower?

Again, no, not in most states. According to federal law, an 80% lower does not require a unique serial number, even if you finish constructing an AR-15 from the blank.

In some states, such as California, they require you to serialize your firearm’s receiver. You’ll want to check local and state laws before finishing your build.

Can I Sell An 80% AR-15?

You cannot construct an 80% AR-15 intending to sell, according to the ATF, if you build a firearm intending to sell to the public, you become a manufacturer. At that point, you must become a licensed FFL.

However, if you own your AR-15 for some time, but later on decide to sell, that’s okay. Simply put, do not buy many receiver blanks, finish the build, then sell them to your neighbors or the general public. The ATF will crack down on you quickly, and they won’t be kind enough to issue a warning. You will probably walk away in handcuffs.

Indiana anon report:
