UN criticizes use of child soldiers after Burkina Faso govt says massacre of over 130 people was carried out by kids

The United Nations (UN) has condemned the use of child soldiers after reports from Burkina Faso that a recent attack, in which over 130 people were killed in mass shootings and home raids, was carried out by kids as young as 12.

Spokesperson for the Burkinabe government, Ousseni Tamboura, said information gleaned during interrogations after the attack indicated that most of the assailants of the brutal attack on Solhan village were youths aged between just 12 and 14.

In response to the authorities’ claims, the UN branch dedicated to the rights and wellbeing of children, UNICEF, condemned the recruitment of child soldiers by terrorist groups as a “grave violation of their fundamental rights.”

The brutal attack on the northern village of Solhan occurred late at night on June 4, with the assault continuing into June 5. The perpetrators destroyed homes, set a market ablaze and shot scores of residents. According to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), around 3,300 people managed to flee the unfolding attack in Solhan.

The official death toll stands at 132 fatalities, but the total number is reported to be over 160, with around 20 children among the deceased.

While no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, the Burkinabe government has said it suspects that Al-Qaeda sympathizers, specifically the Group to Support Islam and Muslims (JNIM), are responsible.

Burkina Faso has been plagued by an increase in terrorist attacks by Jihadi groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda for several years.

An estimated 40% of all child soldiers globally operate in Africa. It has been theorized that the reasons for deploying child soldiers are that they are seen as more “dispensible” than adults and often show greater loyalty to commanders than adults.

Since 2019, more than 1.2 million people living in Burkina Faso have been expelled from their homes due to turbulent conditions in the country. Over 80% of those displaced this year alone are women or children, according to the UNHCR.

Democrat Mayor Lovely Warren, Charged For Alleged Campaign Finance Fraud, Loses Primary

The Democratic mayor of Rochester, New York, lost her mayoral primary race Tuesday amid ongoing charges alleging campaign finance violations, Fox News reported.

Mayor Lovely Warren was indicted in October for alleged campaign finance fraud, which she continues to deny, according to The Associated Press. After serving two terms as mayor since 2014, Warren lost the primary to Malik Evans, a councilman and school board member in the city, Fox News reported.

Evans entered the race in January with the goal of restoring “trust and government transparency” to Rochester, Syracuse.com reported. He gave a victory speech saying Rochester is a step closer to being placed in the “upper echelon.”

“Tonight is the true beginning of our journey together to put Rochester in the upper echelon of U.S. cities where it belongs,” Evans said.

Police raided the couple’s Woodman Park home in May after obtaining a warrant against Warren’s estranged husband, Timothy Granison, for allegedly trafficking cocaine, according to Fox News. Warren claimed she has been estranged from her husband for years and had no knowledge relating to the charges brought against him, according to Syracuse.com. Granison is facing three felonies, two for drug possession and one weapons charge.

Warren had been scrutinized for her response to the death of Daniel Prude, who died after a police encounter in March 2020. Prude had reportedly been running down the streets naked and banging on store windows the evening following his release from a mental hospital. When officers found Prude, they pinned him to the ground for two minutes until he lost consciousness.

After the incident, Prude remained on life support for a week before being pronounced dead. The officers did not face charges for Prude’s death.

As protests ensued over the death, Warren was under pressure to step down over accusations that city officials attempted to cover up the death by not immediately releasing bodycam footage. The mayor fired the city’s police chief Le’Ron Singletary over Prude’s death.

John McAfee’s lawyer says anti-virus tycoon showed no indication he would take his own life

The lawyer for anti-virus software tycoon John McAfee – who was found dead in his Spanish jail cell on Wednesday while awaiting extradition to the United States – says he saw no indication the businessman wanted to kill himself.

Javier Villalba told Reuters on Thursday that he “had constant telephone contact” with McAfee and “at no point had he shown any special worry or clue that could let us think this could have happened.”

Villalba added that McAfee’s death was particularly painful “because it was not justified under any circumstance that this man remained in the jail.”

McAfee had been incarcerated in Barcelona, Spain since October last year as the United States sought his extradition for alleged tax evasion. McAfee was found dead in his cell just hours after the Spanish National Court approved his transfer to the US.

Conspiracy theories surrounding McAfee’s death have since blown up on social media, due to previous statements by the businessman which warned that if he is found dead of an apparent suicide “a la Epstein” in the future, he was “whackd.”

On Father’s Day, several days before McAfee’s death, his wife Janice McAfee published a statement claiming that the US government wanted her husband to “die in prison” to “make an example of him for speaking out against corruption within their government agencies.”

“There is no hope for him ever having a fair trial in America because there is no longer any justice in America,” she declared, before concluding that the eight months her husband had spent in jail had been “hard on his overall health both mentally and physically.”

Earlier this month, John McAfee had tweeted that he had “nothing” left financially, despite the US government thinking he has “hidden” cryptocurrency.

“I wish I did but it has dissolved through the many hands of Team McAfee (your belief is not required), and my remaining assets are all seized,” he said, claiming his friends had also “evaporated through fear of association.”

“I have nothing. Yet, I regret nothing,” McAfee concluded.

McAfee faced up to 30 years in prison in the US if found guilty of tax evasion.

Bill Clinton claims GOP used cancel culture before Left adopted it, and Twitter won’t take it

Former US President Bill Clinton claims he suffered from a ‘cancel culture’ attack perpetrated by the Republican Party, before the tactics became popular with the liberals.

The question of how social media propagation is enabling cancel culture today, often not in a helpful way, was brought up during Clinton’s interview with the British TV channel ITV. The ex-president lamented that there was a “problem of cloudy definitions” present, before ironically giving a pretty vague remark about his personal experience.

“The first canceling I ever lived with throughout my life was the canceling that people on the Right tried to do to people who weren't,” Clinton said. “Then it became tempting when the demographics changed to go the other way.”

He then contemplated how “criticism works better than canceling” because it is supposed to come from a place of good faith and help the subject of criticism to become better.

Clinton was speaking alongside writer James Patterson about a fiction book the two men co-authored and were promoting during the interview, which was aired on Wednesday.

With Clinton failing to specify who the Republicans tried to cancel during his presidential tenure, one can only speculate. The Republican-controlled House impeached him for perjury and obstruction of justice during an investigation into his affair with a White House intern, but the Senate refused to convict and remove him from office.

Cancel culture is generally understood as a modern form of ostracism that was made possible by the spread of social media, which empowered the common folk to voice their anger against particular individuals. It is hailed by some for giving a chance to the oppressed to hold accountable those who would previously be shielded by their power and wealth. Others say it’s often nothing more than cyberbullying by self-righteous online mobs that can ruin the lives of people, who hold no actual influence, over even minor slights committed decades ago.

After Black Sea Incident Russia Warns: Next Time We Will Not Miss!

Spokesmen for the Russian government have said that if warnings about not entering their waters are ignored their weapons will be “right on target” in future, the latest escalation over the disputed ownership of territorial waters in the Black Sea.

Russia has continued to push statements into the public domain since it buzzed a British warship — and, they claim, dropped “warning” bombs in its path — on Wednesday. Britain denied the use of weapons even took place, noting that while pre-announced Russian naval exercises were taking place nearby, no weapons were aimed at the British.

As well as summoning the British defence attaché in Moscow, the Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has slammed the British for sailing in disputed waters Russia claims as its own.

Peskov accused the British of staging a “deliberate and prepared provocation”, reports Interfax. He even claimed, contrary perhaps to the expectations of some, that it was “at odds with international law”.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was even more forthright in his comments, reported by the Associated Press, that Britain’s HMS Defender should be renamed HMS Attacker and that by testing Russia, the UK was “taking high risks”.

Russia would be more violent in response to ships entering the water it claims as its own, he said, commenting: “we may drop bombs and not just in the path but right on target”.

The British, for their part, have said people should not get “carried away”.

While the exact events of Wednesday afternoon in the Black Sea are disputed — Russia claims warning shots were fired at a British warship and Britain denies this happened — it is certain that HMS Defender sailed from Odesa in Ukraine to Georgia, passing close by Crimea as it did so.

The United Kingdom, like most nations worldwide, recognises Crimea as rightfully Ukrainian territory, and consequently the waters surrounding it as Ukrainian. Furthermore, it asserts that the route it took was the shortest between two points and that it acted within international law.

Norway Says Risk Of Dying From AstraZeneca CoviShield Vaccine Higher Than Of COVID-19

Norway has announced that you are at a greater risk of dying from AstraZeneca vaccine branded as Covishield in India than from COVID-19. While waiting for the final decision on the controversial vaccine, Norway has meanwhile decided to offload its stock of AstraZeneca to fellow Nordic countries that actually want to use them despite the associated risks.

Norwegians run a greater risk of dying from being inoculated with AstraZeneca’s vaccine than from COVID-19, the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) concluded in its analysis, recommending the vaccine, previously linked to serious complications in the form of rare blood clotting and haemorrhage amid low platelet counts.

Abstaining from the vaccine could possibly prevent up to 10 deaths related to side effects, the FHI said, according to the newspaper Verdens Gang.

So far, Norway has seen five cases of serious incidents reported shortly after vaccination, with three fatalities. FHI has calculated the mortality rate from the AstraZeneca vaccine as 2.3 people per 100,000 vaccinated.

The FHI stressed that continuing to inoculate will by contrast expose younger women to an “unreasonably high risk”, given the current relatively levels of infection in Norway.

Thousands of flights cancelled as vaccinated pilots fall ill or die

According to a 2014 study published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, pilots suffer an increased risk of clotting issues due to frequent and prolonged air travel. Pilots are encouraged to be aware of the signs of deep venous thrombosis and clotting issues and take preventative measures such as compression stockings and stretching of their legs during long flights.

Medical News Today published a study on June 15th, 2021 that showed an increased risk of blood clotting and low platelets in AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine recipients. Some scientists hypothesize that since the ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in the shot causes a full body reaction, once the vaccine comes into contact with platelets inside the human body, the vaccine activates those platelets, causing them to change shape and transmit chemical signals to the immune system. Those platelets send out platelet factor 4 (PF4), which regulates blood clotting.

However, in some people, after some undetermined amount of time, at random, PF4 latches onto the vaccine, and large “complexes” form. Since those complexes are “unknown,” the human body interprets those clusters as threats. Thus, immune cells in the body mistakenly attack PF4’s, prohibiting them from preventing the problematic clots seen in some COVID-19 vaccine recipients.

At British Airways, at least four pilots have died this week, but the airline wants you to know that their deaths are totally unrelated; Reuter’s and Fact Checkers are working hard to dispel any rumors that the pilots could have died from the COVID-19 vaccine. British Airways boasts that 85% of its employees are vaccinated. Airlines are so quick to obey the COVID-19 vaccine narrative that they forget the welfare of their own employees is at stake.

According to flightaware.com, 120,000 cancellations per year is the average for global flights. An average day would see 329 cancellations. A 2 day average would see 658 cancellations. But between Friday and Saturday, 3,533 cancellations occurred. That’s a 580% increase in cancellations globally in the past 2 days.

The White House Twitter account quickly deleted a video of Anthony Fauci pushing Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in response to the emerging “Delta Variant,” re-posting an edited version of the video excluding a portion where Fauci instructs vaccinated people to “avoid congregate settings” with unvaccinated people.

Posted to Joe Biden’s official Twitter account, the original June 24th post included Fauci answering the following question:

Ten Convicted in Migrant NGO Scam Case That Cost Italians Millions

The Court of Milan has convicted ten people who were part of a network that defrauded the Italian state of millions of euros while managing funds for migrant reception NGOs.

The suspects were convicted of fraud against the state over the handling of at least €7.5 million (£6.41m/$8.96m) meant to go towards four migrant reception NGOs.

Area Solidale (Solidarity Area), Volunteers Without Borders, Amici di Madre Teresa (Friends of Mother Teresa), and Milano Solidale (Solidarity Milan) were all named as part of the fraud and were supposed to use state money to help newly arrived migrants, but kept much of the cash for themselves, Il Giornale reports.

Daniela Giaconi, the 69-year-old head of Consorzio Area Solidale who is believed to be at the centre of the scam, received the longest sentence of 11 years in prison for her role in the fraud. Prosecutor Gianluca Prisco had requested a 13-year sentence.

The other convicted fraudsters were handed sentences of between four years and nine months to eight years in prison.

The NGOs used false documentation to obtain €7.5 million from the Italian Interior Ministry and are also said to have had connections with the mafia group known as ‘Ndrangheta.

The judge also ordered the confiscation of €9 million (£7.7m/$10.75m) in funds and the payment of €200,000 (£171,055/$238,930) for the Interior Ministry, which was a civil party in the case. Judges are expected to file their reasons for the rulings in the next 90 days.

The case is not the first time a pro-migrant NGO has been accused of defrauding taxpayers.

In 2018, the co-op Solidarity took cash from the government of the city of Florence to house migrants. But investigators later learned the group was not providing the services they had promised and even housed migrants in a facility above its intended capacity.

Giovanni Donzelli, a member of the populist-conservative Brothers of Italy (FdI), now one of the most popular parties in Italy, commented at the time on the case, saying: “They used migrants as a human commodity. The left has long been co-responsible for the waste of public money and the exploitation of these people used to make money for the co-operatives.”

Aduhelm has been shown to remove the amyloid beta plaques from the brain that some believe cause the cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer's.

Because of this, the drug - which has already been used to treat some patients - has received some support from the Alzheimer's community, though.

Some experts doubt that removing the amyloid beta plaques will do much to slow down cognitive decline, though.

Aduhelm received accelerated approval from the agency rather than full approval, meaning Biogen will still need to perform ongoing clinical trials on the drug.

If data show the drug has value in combatting Alzheimer's it will receive full approval, but a failed trial could see it pulled from the market.

Janet Woodcock, acting commissioner of the FDA, told The Post on Tuesday that she was 'fairly confident 'that the removal of the plaques will help patients and that it is 'reasonably likely' the drug will produce clinical benefit.

'I feel it is a very solid accelerated approval,' she said.

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz recently introduced H.R. 3660, or the Digital Health Pass Prevention Act (DHPPA) of 2021, that would ban all federal support for vaccine passports.

If passed, the bill would prevent the federal government from funding and enforcing any program that uses digital health passes, which are used to verify an individual’s coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination status unrelated to official health care records.

The bill is co-sponsored by Texas Reps. Louie Gohmert and Lance Gooden – both Republicans like Gaetz.

“We will not allow the public health bureaucracy to be a new entity to drain our liberty away in the United States of America. The federal government has no business asking Americans for their vaccination status, and they should not have the ability to use taxpayer funds to support third parties who do,” Gaetz said.

“Americans will not trade mask mandates for vaccine mandates. I urge every freedom fighter in Congress to join my efforts to ban federal support for vaccine passports.”

Florida in frontline of battle against vaccine passports

Gaetz’s home state is known for vigorously opposing vaccine passports.

Last month, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill (SB) 2006. The bill takes aim at vaccine passports and arbitrary lockdowns while enhancing emergency preparedness for future emergencies.

“In Florida, your personal choice regarding vaccinations will be protected and no business or government entity will be able to deny you services based on your decision,” said DeSantis.

“Over the last year we’ve avoided protracted lockdowns and school closures in Florida because I have refused to take the same approach as other lockdown governors. US Intelligence Says Kabul Could Fall 6 Months After Pullout

Hawks use these claims to justify staying, but the fact that the Afghan government is expected to collapse shows the futility of the war

As the US is pulling out of Afghanistan, Western media has been full of stories warning that the Afghan government will collapse shortly after the US leaves. On Wednesday, The Wall Street Journal cited anonymous officials who said US intelligence assessed that Kabul could fall within six to 12 months of a US pullout.

While mainstream media reports citing anonymous officials are not the most trustworthy sources, the story is notable because hawks want to use what they see as an inevitable collapse of the Afghan government as a reason for the US to stay and prolong the war. But the fact the Afghan government is ready to fall after almost 20 years of the US funneling money into building it up demonstrates the futility of the war and is a better argument for why the US must get out.

The Journal report said US intelligence updated a more positive assessment based on recent gains by the Taliban. The Pentagon has suggested that it could slow the “pace” of its withdrawal due to recent Taliban advancements. But a prolonged US presence would only incentivize the Taliban to launch more attacks, and it would put US troops in danger. Since the US-Taliban peace deal was signed in Doha in February 2020, no US troops have died in combat in Afghanistan.

The optics of the US withdrawing as the Taliban is making large gains does not look good for Washington. President Biden created the current situation by pushing back the original May 1st withdrawal deadline to September 11th. Before May, violence was raging, but the Taliban had not made moves to take such significant territory.

Pushing back the withdrawal also delayed potential intra-Afghan peace talks. The chance of the Taliban and Kabul finding a diplomatic solution may be small, but the one thing that guarantees it won’t happen is a continued US presence. The US’s post-withdrawal plans to have Turkish troops guard the Kabul airport might also fuel more violence since the Taliban see a continued foreign presence as a violation of the Doha agreement.
