The videos matched the reported location of the attacks on and around Wuerzburg's central Barbarossaplatz, though it was not immediately possible to confirm when they had been made.

 

Reuters footage from the scene showed dozens of police and emergency vehicles in attendance.

 

Wuerzburg, an ancient city of some 130,000 people, lies some 100 kilometres south-east of Frankfurt.

Nike chief executive John Donahoe gave an impassioned defence of his company’s business in China, months after the world’s largest sportswear brand became ensnared in a consumer backlash over its past statements on Xinjiang.

Woke Entitlements: House Democrats Pass Bills Pushing LGBT Loans, Abortion Drugs for Veterans

 

 

House Democrats passed two bills on Thursday after an initial conservative knockdown last week.

 

The LGBTQ Business Equal Credit Enforcement and Investment Act passed by 252/176 with two not voting. The Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act was passed by 245/181 with four not voting.

 

The LGBTQ bill gives LGBTQ-owned businesses favoritism in lending, much in the same way minority-owned businesses may. The veterans’ contraception bill would facilitate β€œgovernment-funded access to abortion drugs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs,” Breitbart News previously reported.

 

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempted to fast-track through the lower chamber of the U.S. Congress last Tuesday using a procedure called β€œsuspension of the rules.” The procedure requires a two-thirds supermajority of the House to succeed.

 

To combat her agenda, House Freedom Caucus chairman Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and other House conservatives like Reps. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) and Chip Roy (R-TX), among others, forced a roll call of the votes in an effort to get the bills turned down.

 

Democrats rescheduled the bills for Thursday, this time only requiring a simple majority to ram through the legislation. For the LGBTQ bill, 33 Republicans sided with Democrats, and for the veterans’ bill, 26 Republicans sided with Democrats.

 

The Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act was highly contentious within the Republican Conference β€” a small portion of the conference cleaved off in support of the bill under the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and ranking member Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL).

 

Within the party, there seems to be a differing opinion on whether drugs like Plan-B and Ella are considered contraception or abortifacients. Republicans, who have long been considered the pro-life party, most often believe life begins at conception. Drugs like Ella β€œcan cause the demise of an embryo that is already implanted in its mother’s womb,” according to studies cited by the Family Research Council β€” which pro-life Republicans would call an abortion, Breitbart News previously reported.

 

Despite a loss for the pro-life cause, Rep. Rosendale told Breitbart News on Friday that conservatives only lost four Republicans in this week’s revote after Bost’s push to support the bill:

Big Tech Floods D.C. with Lobbyists to Avert Antitrust Reckoning

 

Big Tech companies including Amazon, Apple, and Google are waging a massive lobbying offensive in Washington DC to halt the passage of major antitrust legislation.

 

The New York Times reports that senior tech executives, including Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google global affairs VP Kent Walker (known for his infamous β€œblip in history” comment) are making calls to top congressional Democrats warning against passing the suite of antitrust bills recently advanced by the House Judiciary Committee.

Google’s senior vice president for global affairs, Kent Walker, has also made calls to lawmakers in recent days, and the company’s top lobbyist, Mark Isakowitz, has weighed in on how the bills would alter how people use the internet. β€œAmerican consumers and small businesses would be shocked at how these bills would break many of their favorite services,” he said in a statement. Prosecutors in the Manhattan district attorney's office told former President Donald Trump's lawyers that the Trump Organization could face criminal charges, The New York Times first reported on Friday.

 

Citing people with knowledge of the matter, The Times said that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. could announce charges against the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, as soon as next week.

 

Trump's lawyers met with Manhattan prosecutors on Thursday hoping to persuade them to abandon charges against the company, The Times reported. Ronald Fischetti, an attorney representing the Trump Organization, confirmed the meeting in an interview with NBC News.

 

"The corporate office will plead not guilty and we will make an immediate motion to dismiss the case against the corporation," Fischetti said.

 

Fischetti said the prosecutors have not secured the cooperation of Weisselberg, which they have sought, and that they asked about Trump's personal involvement in possible tax crimes.

 

"They could not get Allen Weisselberg to cooperate and tell them what they wanted to hear, and that's why they are going forward with these charges," Fischetti told NBC News. "They could not get him to cooperate because he would not say that Donald Trump had knowledge or any information that he may have been not deducting properly the use of cars or an apartment."

 

State prosecutors are nearing the end of a two-year investigation into whether Trump's sprawling real-estate company violated New York laws.

 

The criminal inquiry began after Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer and fixer, said the Trump Organization had helped facilitate an illegal hush-money payment to the adult-film actress Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election.

 

Since then, the investigation has expanded to examine whether the company artificially inflated or deflated the value of its assets for loan and tax purposes. Prosecutors have also asked witnesses about perks that Trump Organization executives received, possibly without paying the appropriate taxes on them.

 

It is not clear whether prosecutors in Vance's office will bring charges against the Trump Organization, Weisselberg, any other executives, or Trump himself. The office has empaneled a special grand jury that is reportedly weighing whether to indict subjects of the investigation. The Trump Organization has denied wrongdoing.

 

The investigation kicked into high gear in February when the Supreme Court cleared the way for Manhattan prosecutors to obtain eight years of Trump's tax records.

Report: Space Force has to prepare for operations beyond Earth’s orbit

 

A new report published by the Air Force Research Laboratory suggests the U.S. Space Force has to prepare for a day when the moon and the volume of space around it could become the next military frontier.

 

β€œA Primer on Cislunar Space” was released June 23 by AFRL’s Space Vehicles Directorate. Its intended audience are military space professionals who one day might have to develop spacecraft and concepts for operations in regions beyond Earth’s orbit.

 

Col. Eric Felt, the director of AFRL’s Space Vehicles Directorate, said the document aims to β€œeducate and inspire.”

 

β€œOperating spacecraft beyond geosynchronous Earth orbit poses unique challenges,” Felt said in a statement. β€œAs commerce extends to the moon and beyond, it is vital we understand and solve those unique challenges so that we can provide space domain awareness and security.”

ONce I was out there on a TDY and drove down into one of the parts of it not sure and I went all the way in it was really really hot and I pull in and there are hundreds of guys all standing around outside at attention.
