Unmitigated Disasters: Biden’s First Months Have Been Some of America’s Worst.

 

The presidency of Joseph Robinette Biden has been an unmitigated disaster from the get go. There’s no other way to say it, and the political left knows it as much as the right.

 

Afghanistan may be the latest example of how Biden and his team (actually, mostly his team) took a Trumpy idea and butchered it. The same goes for his coronavirus strategy, his U.S. border policy, and even with the “infrastructure” bill.

 

It’s not just a return to declinist, uniparty politics. Joe Biden’s government has thus far appealed to the worst instincts of a totalitarian left at home, and the worst instincts of the relativistic left abroad. Still, why should we be surprised? Even Barack Obama tried to warn America prior to the November 2020 election.

 

“Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to fuck things up,” Obama was quoted as saying last August. He went further, asserting: “And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden.”

 

That’s about as damning as Obama could’ve been considering the man served as his Vice President for eight years. He had a point. Joe didn’t and doesn’t have it. But it’s not really Joe Biden leading this monstrosity of a government.

 

I don’t think that lets Biden off the hook. Had Trump presided over such a pathetic withdrawal from Afghanistan, House Democrats would’ve drafted articles of impeachment by close of business on the day the presidential palace got taken by the Taliban. Today. As I write this.

 

And it’s especially galling to watch this take place from New York City, as Afghan expats march in the streets of America instead of the streets of Kabul, demanding someone does something. There’s the problem. They already did.

 

Afghanistan was obviously a fool’s errand, perhaps unavoidable in some way after 9/11. But what could have been avoided was 20-year deployment, and the mission creep from defeating the Taliban to founding a Jeffersonian republic in South Asia. Blame for such things lies at the feet of every American man and woman who didn’t protest vociferously enough to stop such a moronic endeavor. You can’t just keep blaming politicians. This is what they do. The public has a duty – especially when it’s costing $2 trillion and 240,000 lives – to intervene against its governing class.

Torrential rains in downtown Austin lead to flooding at Capitol

 

A hot day in Austin turned stormy Sunday afternoon.

 

Shortly before 2 p.m. a flash flood warning was issued for Austin and Travis County and heavy rain pummeled the area. According to the National Weather Service, Austin received between 2 and 5 inches of rain, with the highest amounts reported over downtown.

 

The downpour led to flooding in the underground extension of the Capitol and other areas.

 

"A storm drain became clogged and backed up water into one of the skylight drain troughs, and water came into the building," Chris Currens, a spokesman for the State Preservation Board, the government entity that maintains the building, said Sunday.

 

The damage was in the Capitol Extension on the E 200 and 300 hallways, Currens said.

 

Currens said his crew was planning to work through the night "to make sure that we get everything operational by tomorrow."

 

Gov. Greg Abbott said on Twitter that his office was coordinating with "all applicable agencies" to address the flooding. "It’s all hands on deck," he wrote.

 

There were also social media reports of flooding at Gregory Gym on the University Texas campus and at Shoal Creek on Sunday.

 

Video shared by UT students on Twitter showed a spout of water coming up from the floor of Gregory Gym, and UT posted this update onSunday afternoon: "The entire Gregory Gymnasium & Aquatic Complex will be closed from 2 p.m. through the end of day today as a result of a facility-related emergency and inclement weather."

An enormous salt deposit sitting beneath Luke Air Force Base helped spice up the West Valley’s postwar economy.

 

Beneath Glendale lurks a vast subterranean world that’s deeper than the Grand Canyon – and then some. This behemoth is the Luke Salt Body, an estimated 10,000-foot-thick deposit that sits beneath 40 square miles of desert.

A true geological oddity, the 99.9 percent pure salt body helped supercharge the West Valley’s late postwar economy and continues to be productive more than a half-century later.

 

Morton Salt mines the deposit, creating brilliant white stockpiles that can play tricks on visitors even when temperatures soar into the triple digits. “One of my coworkers at first thought they were piles of snow,” says Johnny Mack, a former contract worker at the plant. “He wanted to go jump on them to cool off.”

 

The first indication of the Luke Salt Body occurred in 1952. An irrigation well drilled for Goodyear Farms produced saline water with an almost pure sodium-chloride chemistry that was worthless for growing crops. Fifteen years later, scientist Gerald Grott recognized that the water quality might indicate an unusual feature. In conjunction with a recent geophysical map, he thought there was a high probability of an extensive salt deposit beneath the West Valley.

 

To investigate his theory, Grott founded Southwest Salt Co. in 1968 and financed a 2,400-foot deep well near Glendale and Dysart roads. His premise proved correct. “The salt in here is damned near unbelievable,” Grott told The Arizona Republic in 1976. “If it were above ground, there would be one of the biggest mountains in the state.” He added that the formation could supply the salt needs of the U.S. “for 200 years.”

 

By 1969, Southwest Salt was mining the salt deposit using solution wells. Fresh water is injected through a central pipe in a well drilled into the formation, which dissolves the salt. Positive water pressure maintains the integrity of the resulting salt cavern. It forces the brine to the surface via the annulus, a space between the injection tube and the well casing.

 

Salt mining is dangerous, even though blasting isn’t required. “The wells work at very high pressures,” says Norm Fain, plant engineer during the mid-1980s. “It was a challenge to find materials that wouldn’t fail and harm workers.”

 

The aqueous brine then flows into evaporation ponds, where Arizona’s abundant solar energy expedites the growth of salt crystals at a rate of 2 inches per day during the summer. Machines harvest the slushy brine and the salt crystals are further dried in a gas-fired kiln before being packaged for use all over the Southwest. Unfortunately for locavores, since the West Valley salt is reclaimed in an open-air process and exposed to dust, the resulting product is used only for industrial functions. “The cleanest salt is used for water softening, and the rest for other purposes like road salt,” Fain says.

 

Grott’s talent was as a scientific visionary, not a businessman, but he had taken a big chunk of the salt pellet market from Morton, according to Fain. Morton Salt bought the 132-acre facility and its 98 acres of brine evaporation ponds in 1985. “I believe the sale was a combination of Morton making an offer, Grott getting older and his financial backers looking for a return on investment,” Fain says. “Until the sale, the mine never paid any of the investors any returns.”

This is Dr. Bruce Lipton. He is a Biologist who taught medicine for 20 years. In reality, Pakistan wants to assume a leading role in negotiating and reconciling with the Afghan Taliban to ensure a friendlier neighbor after the United States withdraws, concludes a paper by Ashley J. Key conclusions:

 

Despite arrests of Mullah Beradar and other Taliban leaders (which were either inadvertent or self-serving), Pakistan’s overall strategy of protecting the Afghan Taliban leadership has not changed.

 

Pakistan is threatened by the 2011 drawdown of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, which it believes will leave behind an Afghan state with strong ties to its rival India.

 

A true change in Pakistan’s strategic calculations requires Islamabad to accept that the Taliban—and not India—is the greatest threat to success in Afghanistan.

 

The lack of U.S. leadership at the January London conference on Afghanistan allowed reconciliation with the Taliban to become a centerpiece of the endgame of international involvement.

 

Pakistan’s recent arrests of a few Taliban leaders is meant to exert control over the reconciliation process that Pakistan believes is imminent.

“The recent seizures of a few Taliban leaders by Pakistan isn’t much of a turning point in Islamabad’s traditional strategy after all,” writes Tellis.

Shifty Adam Schiff did not exit this world gracefully.

 

As reported previously, on 1 July the Office of Military Commissions found Schiff guilty of treason and espionage and decided that his crimes against the nation warranted a death sentence. On August 13, the military fulfilled its promise, and “detainee” Adam Schiff lost his life to a firing squad.

 

At 5:30 a.m., Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay (JTF GITMO) personnel retrieved Schiff from his Camp Delta detention cell and escorted him to a concrete wall the Army Corps of Engineers had constructed just north of Old Cemetery, on Gitmo’s southern edge.

 

A source involved in the military’s Deep State purge told Real Raw News that Schiff “cried like a baby” during the Humvee ride to the spot that would mark is execution.

 

“He begged for his life like a bitch,” our source said.

 

But Schiff had had several opportunities to atone for his crimes to avoid capital punishment, prior to and during his tribunal. Rather than confess, Schiff said he had done no wrong—even when his wife, Eve, testified that he had accepted $8,000,000 in foreign (Chinese) gifts to publicly denigrate and wage war on the democratically-elected president of the United States—Donald J. Trump. Instead, Schiff gave the same answer that all Deep State Agents have given in advance of facing gallows, firing squad, or lethal injection: “I was just following orders.”

 

Those orders earned him a seven-gun salute.

 

At 6:00 a.m., Vice Adm. John G. Hannink, who had overseen several Deep State executions, asked if Schiff wanted to give last words.

 

“I’ve always followed the Constitution. I didn’t do anything wrong. Why do you want to kill me?” Schiff sobbed.

 

Schiff asked to be blindfolded rather than face his fate as a man.

 

As is typical for military firing squads, only one or two of the rifles held live rounds; the others chambered blanks.

 

Vice Adm. Hannink instructed the execution detail to aim center mass and gave the order to ‘fire.’

 

Schiff took two to the chest but did not die. He fell to the ground, squirming and writhing as if he were dancing ‘the worm,’ gasping for air and sputtering incomprehensible words.

 

Vice Adm. Hannink unholstered his sidearm and chambered a round.

 

A moment later, he delivered the coup de grace, sending another sizzling round into Schiff’s chest.

 

Schiff took a final breath and expired, with an on-scene physician confirming his death.

DOD, Israel Host Indoor Autonomous Maneuver Technologies Challenge

The Defense Department, the Israel Defense Ministry and the Merage Institute are holding a Mobile Standoff Autonomous Indoor Capabilities, or MoSAIC, challenge to advance innovative technological solutions for remote, autonomous indoor maneuver.

The MoSAIC challenge is divided into five mini-challenges, three of them virtual challenges and two of them physical challenges that include: indoor navigation, room mapping, human/object tagging, tactical robotic systems, and human presence detection, which is also known as through-wall imaging.

Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners up in each of the categories. The MoSAIC challenge application process, which began June 24 and runs until Sept. 23, will award cash and other prizes totaling $600,000 to startups and innovators worldwide who produce the best solutions.

 

The MoSAIC challenge is part of a memorandum of agreement between the U.S. DOD's Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate, or IWTSD, and IMOD's Directorate of Defense Research and Engineering, or DDR&D. It's important to note that IWTSD is part of the Assistant Secretary of Defense and Low-Intensity Conflict organization.

 

"The U.S. Defense Department realized many years ago that groundbreaking innovations were happening outside the government laboratories and traditional prime contractors," said Adam Tarsi, international program manager for IWTSD.

Spotlight: Science and Technology

Tarsi said he expects to see some innovative use of artificial intelligence, small multi-rotor drones and tactical ground vehicles that can successfully negotiate complex obstacles as might be found in tunnels or collapsed structures.

 

DOD has successfully held similar challenges in the last few years, with some of the experimental devices, hardware and software incorporated into systems that now or in the future will aid the warfighters with overcoming capability gaps, he said.

 

At this year's challenge, Tarsi said that DOD would likely be interested in many of the projects that don't ultimately receive prizes and that there could be a productive collaboration between those innovators and the department.
