On Friday, Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club, resigned. He had been in charge of the organization for 11 years. Politico calls the resignation a “major blow to the U.S. environmental movement and the Democratic Party’s green base.”

Why did Brune quit? He didn’t say. However, he apologized “for any instance” in which staff and volunteers of the Sierra Club did not “feel safe, supported and valued.” Brune did not elaborate.

Does this mean that Brune quit due to charges that he didn’t make people “feel safe, supported and valued?” Perhaps. However, I haven’t been able to find any indication that Brune was under fire for anything like that. Andrew Cuomo, he does not appear to be.

I’m hearing that there’s more to Brune’s resignation than has been reported so far. There almost has to be.

What might that “more” be? Politico drops this passage in a section of its article called “the context.”

The Sierra Club in June called for the United States to make reparations to Black people, saying the move was needed to correct the historical wrongs that were still subjecting Black communities to disproportionately high levels of pollution and exacerbating income and health disparities.

The organization has confronted its own racist past in recent years to apologize for the stances of its founder, John Muir, who based elements of his conservation on derogatory beliefs and comments about Black and Indigenous people.

Did Brune’s embrace of BLM talking points alienate a more than insignificant portion of the Sierra Club’s donor base? As a mostly ignorant outsider, I tend to think of the portion of the environmental movement to which the Sierra Club belongs as monolithically leftist, such that its donors would be fine with a leader who calls for reparations, among other radical racialist ideas.

However, a friend who knows his way around this movement tells me that a lot of environmentalists, especially older ones, aren’t fans of BLM. They don’t view it as disparagingly as I do, but neither do they buy much of its line. And they resent seeing its demands injected into the environmental movement.

According to my friend, some of his liberal environmentalist pals reacted to Brune’s call for reparations by fuming “why won’t the Sierra club stay in its lane?”

I did some exploration of the geolocation.

Fired up a Win10 VM, looked into how to read the geolocation from the Registry; and, it appears the only way is to "activate the I lost my device stuff".

Don't want to do that as part of the investigation.

So, looking for the algorithm.

Or which DLL calls would be necessary, to "invoke the algorithm."

Perhaps the algorithm only resides on Microsoft's servers, which is why one has to activate the "I lost my device" function?

Anyone here work for Microsoft, and might check?

An investigation is underway following the death of a 29-year-old Fort Bragg paratrooper who was found unresponsive in his barracks on Friday, according to reports.

 

Pfc. Mikel Rubino, of the 82nd Airborne Division, was declared dead when medical personnel arrived, the 82nd Airborne said in a release Saturday, according to FOX 8 in North Carolina.

 

Rubino, who was from Oroville, California, enlisted in 2020 and arrived at Fort Bragg earlier this year, the Army Times reported.

 

His cause of death has not been released.

Yes, exactly. Ask yourself why India’s success against the Delta variant with Ivermectin is such a closely guarded secret by the NIH and CDC. Second, ask yourself why no major media outlets reported this fact, but instead, tried to confuse you with false information by saying the deaths in India are 10 times greater than official reports.

The courtroom, of course, erupts with laughter and all of that formerly credible testimony immediately flies right out the window.

 

I have already received e-mails warning that I will suffer a similar fate (from people who heard me discussing the topic on Meria Heller’s radio show). Not to worry though – I have somewhat of an advantage over others who have attempted to travel this path: I don’t really care. TALLAHASSEE — Republican Matt Caldwell pointed to a need for political “sanity” and a “peaceful transfer of power” Monday as he conceded the race for Florida agriculture commissioner to Fort Lauderdale lawyer Nikki Fried, the only Democrat to win statewide this year.

 

Caldwell, a real-estate appraiser from North Fort Myers who has served the past eight years in the Florida House, said in a statement that he still had questions about how ballots were handled in Palm Beach and Broward counties, where he had filed a lawsuit. But he didn’t want to use “legal loopholes to win an election.”

 

“All I have ever expected since Election Day is a full and fair accounting of all legal votes cast, and then respecting the will of the voters,” Caldwell said. “Unfortunately, as a result of the abject failures in Broward and Palm Beach, it has become clear that we may never gain an understanding of what transpired in the hours and days after polls closed, despite the exhaustive efforts of my legal team to get to the truth. To continue this legal challenge would likely require millions of dollars and months to complete without providing any more clarity.”

 

A short time after Caldwell’s announcement, Fried tweeted that she received a phone call from Caldwell and “he could not have been more gracious.”

 

“I want to congratulate him on a close race and thank him for his willingness to step into the arena. And to everyone who supported him, I will be your voice in Tallahassee too,” Fried tweeted.

 

The state Elections Canvassing Commission will meet Tuesday to certify the results of the Nov. 6 elections.

 

A manual recount completed Sunday raised Fried’s lead over Caldwell to 6,753 votes out of more than 8 million cast in the race for a seat on the state Cabinet. The manual recount added 1,446 votes to Fried’s total from an earlier machine recount, according to results posted on the state Division of Elections website.

 

Caldwell’s campaign Sunday continued to explore how heavily Democratic Broward and Palm Beach counties handled the recount. The Republican’s attorneys contended in the earlier lawsuit that about 17,000 vote-by-mail ballots were collected and counted in Broward County after polls closed at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6.

 

Caldwell also attacked Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes for “staggering incompetence” after her office was unable to provide the results of a machine recount to the state by a Thursday deadline.

 

In a separate letter thanking supporters, Caldwell said the current “unhealthy” state of politics weighed in his decision.

 

“That hit home this last week when the FBI informed me that I was among the group of individuals that the recently captured pipe bomber had researched prior to his arrest,” Caldwell wrote. “Even our own governor-elect was a near target of the baseball field shootings. There is no place for political violence in a democratically elected republic. Our remedy is the ballot box and it should remain there. Embracing this fact can only make us stronger. The sooner we return to peaceful sanity, the better.”

 

In addition to his letter to supporters, Caldwell submitted a letter to Secretary of State Ken Detzner that calls for reform of the election process and outlined “mistakes, errors and failures” in Palm Beach and Broward counties.

 

Among his proposals: changes to how votes are delivered, sorted and counted; basic training for supervisors of elections and their staffs; extended time periods for machine and manual recounts; and a process for canvassing boards to request extensions to complete counting.

 

Caldwell declared victory on election night, as ballots counted several hours after the polls closed had him up by more than 40,000 votes. But over the next several days, as more ballots were tabulated, particularly in South Florida, Fried pulled ahead.

 

Fried, who has also worked as a medical marijuana lobbyist, first claimed victory after unofficial returns were posted on Nov. 10. But state law required machine and manual recounts because of the slim margins between the candidates.

 

Fried has set up a transition team headed by Congressman Darren Soto of Orlando and former Congressman Patrick Murphy.

Thank you! Nothing I can think of though. Think these server images came from Tina Peters' office, in Colorado.

If you know how to convert the Windows Registry data that has the geolocation to latitude/longitude coordinates, then we can help prove whether the two images came from her office.

Both images had the same geolocation data, in that portion of the Registry.

So both images "came from the same place"; we just have to figure out how to get "the place" from "the data."

Preferably without going through Microsoft's "I lost my device" functionality, if possible; if not, guess I'll burn a license doing that? (What's $100 or so if we're saving the country?)
