The Left is a big club, and you’re not in it. Leftists play a game that works this way: the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), one of their primary attack machines, publishes a report purporting to demonstrate that some conservative group or other is a “hate group.” This allegedly objective study is generally a tissue of innuendo, misrepresentations, and outright lies. But nevertheless, leading corporations then cite the SPLC’s study as justification for barring the abhorrent hate group from their various services.

 

The supposedly objective news media solemnly repeats that the group in question has been designated by the SPLC as a “hate group,” as if this were akin to a cancer diagnosis from a sober, disinterested medical professional. But it’s more like a leprosy diagnosis: after all this, the “hate group” is duly ostracized and marginalized. This game has worked for years, with cowardly conservatives playing along and accepting the ostracism of some foremost voices of dissent from the Leftist agenda. But Justice Clarence Thomas on Monday declared that it is high time that this sinister game comes to an end.

 

Thomas dissented from the Court’s denial of a petition for a writ of certiorari in the case of Coral Ridge Ministries Media Inc. v. Southern Poverty Law Center, and it’s a shame that his remarks are in a dissenting opinion on a case the Court declined to hear rather than a majority opinion striking against the SPLC, as the Leftist beast will never be vanquished as long as the SPLC’s wholly unjustified status as an impartial arbiter of what does and does not constitute “hate” that is beyond the pale of acceptable discourse remains unchallenged.

 

Coral Ridge Ministries Media tried to challenge it. As Thomas notes in his dissent, Coral Ridge is “a Christian nonprofit dedicated to spreading the ‘Gospel of Jesus Christ’ and ‘a biblically informed view of the world, using all available media.’” That is not illegal in the United States, but Coral Ridge’s efforts were significantly hampered when the SPLC designated it an “anti-LGBT hate group” for holding what Thomas termed “biblical views concerning human sexuality and marriage.” After this, the ostracism began.

 

Through its AmazonSmile program, Amazon allows its customers to contribute to their favorite charities with their purchases; Coral Ridge, however, despite being an eligible charity as far as the U.S. government is concerned, as it is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was barred from participating in AmazonSmile, on the grounds that the SPLC had designated it a “hate group.”

 

Coral Ridge sued the SPLC for defamation, maintaining that it “has nothing but love for people who engage in homosexual conduct” and “has never attacked or maligned anyone on the basis of engaging in homosexual conduct.” Coral Ridge asserted that the SPLC knew that it wasn’t really a “hate group” at all but tarred it as one nonetheless in order to “destroy the Ministry” by “dissuad[ing] people and organizations from donating” to it.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) said it was difficult being falsely accused of conspiring in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, but he is fighting back to hold the House Jan. 6 committee accountable for its "reckless behavior."

The Jan. 6 panel subpoenaed Loudermilk last month over a constituent tour he gave of congressional office buildings one day before the "Stop the Steal" rally. The Capitol police chief cleared the Georgia Republican of any wrongdoing on Monday.

Loudermilk told "Just the News, Not Noise" on Thursday that he found out about the committee's subpoena through the news, and he still has not received a copy of the letter.

"So I knew they weren't out for the truth. They're trying to push a narrative, and I believe the truth ought to be known. So we pushed back and we said, 'Let's get the truth out there,'" Loudermilk explained.

After the subpoena, his family and staff members started receiving 'significant' death threats, Loudermilk said, noting, "I lay the blame to this at the feet of the Jan. 6 committee for going to the press about their false allegations, instead of talking to me individually and privately."

Even the people who were on the tour with Loudermilk are afraid for their lives, the congressman told editor in chief John Solomon and cohost Amanda Head.

"So there is a responsibility that this committee has to the safety and security of people, because this reckless behavior could cause someone to get seriously hurt," he stressed.

While he has received support from his Republican colleagues, Loudermilk said that he has not "heard anything from directly from the Democrats."

Loudermilk also criticized the media for not accurately reporting on Republicans. He said journalists "will follow any conspiracy theory without getting any facts."

Notably, many outlets wrote about his subpoena, but few followed up with stories about how he was cleared.

The biggest upset of the night came from Illinois, where state Sen. Darren Bailey won the state’s Republican governor primary despite the GOP establishment donating millions to his opponent’s campaign. Bailey’s toughest opponent, Richard Irvin, received $50 million from GOP donor and Citadel founder Ken Griffin. The dark horse candidate is looking to unseat Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker, who he has been called the worst governor in America.

 

“We were outspent my tens-of-millions of dollars in the primary and look what happened,” said Bailey. “This is how it’s done…here’s tip and some advice for J.B. Pritzker: start packing, friend.”

Chelom Leavitt graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Economics in 1988. She then attended the J. Reuben Clark Law School and earned a J.D. in 1992. During her 20 years of private practice, Chelom focused on mediation and alternative dispute resolution. In 2004 Chelom and David took their family to Ukraine to help the ABA with the CEELI program. She received her PhD at Penn State in the Human Development and Family Studies department. Chelom recently accepted a faculty position at Brigham Young University in the School of Family Life. The Leavitt Institute for International Development (TLI) is dedicated to spreading democracy, ethics, and the rule of law in developing nations.

Biden says briefed on US mercenaries 'missing' in Ukraine

 

President Joe Biden said Friday that he had been briefed on two Americans who had gone missing in Ukraine, and he urged Americans not to travel to the war-torn country.

 

When asked about the two American volunteer fighters who are believed to have been captured by Russian forces, Biden responded, "I have been briefed."

 

Biden told reporters that he didn't know where the men were, stressing that "Americans should not be going to Ukraine."

 

The US State Department urged Russia on Thursday to treat any Americans captured while fighting alongside Ukrainian troops as prisoners of war who ought to be treated humanely.

 

It also stated that a third American, in addition to the two military veterans who were reportedly captured by Russian forces in a pitched battle last week, was believed to be missing in Ukraine.

 

According to family members and members of Congress, Alexander Drueke and Andy Huynh, who were both living in Alabama, lost contact with their relatives while fighting alongside Ukrainian forces near the Russian border.

 

Third US fighter goes missing in Ukraine

 

Earlier today, following the announcement of two US citizens missing in Ukraine, presumably captured by Russian forces, State Department Spokesperson Ned Price stated that there are "reports of one additional American whose whereabouts are unknown."

 

On Thursday, Price spoke to the media and clarified that "unfortunately we don't know the full details of that case."

 

While CNN reported on the identity of the third missing American as being the US Marine veteran Grady Kurpasi, based on information collected from his wife, the US official did not validate the information.

 

On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told the Solovyov Live show, when asked about the two captured US veterans in specific, “I do not have such information, and I have been checking it every day. I will check it today as well. We disclose to the public all information about the fate of arrested mercenaries or those on trial… I want to reiterate that I will double-check whether there is any additional information on this issue.”

 

US mercenaries in Ukraine

 

Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported on March 6 that 3,000 US "volunteers" were to arrive in Ukraine, amid Russia's ongoing military operation in the country.

 

The agency quoted the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ press service via Telegram as saying that "the volunteers are ready to repel Russia as part of an international battalion."

 

Among the US volunteers are army veterans "with combat experience gained in Iraq and other hotspots around the world," the agency reported.

I often wonder what would happen if a few women approached these groups of freaks and started chanting rally exaggerated stuff like 'hurrah, lets kill all the babies!' or something that really cuts to the chase of their message instead of screaming about their rights. And another thing, this obsession is incredible. People allow their rights to be trampled on everyday but abortion is something that they get all obsessed about, as if it is their right to kill their child.

 

Out of interest do people get paid to have abortions in America? By the likes of Planned Parenthood etc? I can't help wondering if there is some financial incentive to abort a child in such an obsessive way.

A year later, a now-infamous call between President Trump and his advisers with Georgia election regulators is still generating attention, with even a local prosecutor and the Jan. 6 commission in Congress inquiring whether the call violated any laws.

 

But the man on the receiving end of the call — Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger — says looking back he views the call as "just a conversation" in which he conveyed to the 45th president that allegations about election irregularities in Georgia simply were not supported by the facts.

 

In an interview with Just the News, Raffensperger pointedly declined to say anything threatening or illegal happened on the call, though he previously has claimed in a book he took the call as a threat.

 

"Well, it's pretty obvious what the president wanted," Raffensperger said during an interview aired Tuesday on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "We all want to win. I get that."

 

Recounting many of the allegations Trump and his allies mentioned on the call — from thousands of dead or underage voters to illegal ballots mysteriously appearing in the Atlanta voting center — Raffensperger said every claim was evaluated and probed by his office, the FBI or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and none could be corroborated, with many being outright debunked.

 

Trump allies, for instance, claimed there were 10,000 or more ballots cast by deceased people. An audit, in fact, found only four.

 

"So I settled that," Raffensperger said. "And I know there is a lot of urban legends out there. But I look at what President Trump wanted. And it's just obvious that his people really filled him with a lot of misinformation and falsehoods. And maybe perhaps they believed it. But it was never supported by the facts."

 

Raffensperger, however, did reveal a new election integrity issue his office is investigating right now: an allegation of systematic ballot harvesting during the state's 2020 general election and subsequent U.S. Senate runoff contests. He said he may soon issue subpoenas to secure critical evidence in that probe. ..

We went over accusing me of being responsible for mass shootings the last time I was here before the Committee on Homeland Security. Because of my earlier deposition, it is likely you are perhaps responsible for the fact that I had to defend myself in Texas court over such accusations. The judge decided that I was not responsible, and the case was dismissed.

 

I need to remind you of that since you listed these mass shootings in your subpoena again. I am here with similar seemingly slanderous and disparaging comments on a subpoena. I am not your kick-me boy. You indulge in fantasies about me, perhaps, but the fact is I am not a villain and refuse to play one for your show trials.

 

You, sir are hiding behind your congressional privilege. As a Congressman, it is well known that you have protection from any recourse I may have against the average ordinary citizen that slanders or defames me.

 

I have noticed how friendly, honest, straightforward, and kind your constituents are. When I walk down the streets of the 2nd Congressional District, they are always so eager to come to me and shake my hand. They are happy people, so unlike you. How on earth have you tricked them into representing them? 2nd chances, 3rd chances for narcotics charges in a country being overwhelmed with colonization at our borders and our ports is no way to help the people of this country. The only thing scandalous about my behavior is that made up in the fake news about me and encouraged by your tweeting of your first subpoena to me. For that, you owe my family and friends an apology. You owe more than that, but you will I am sure hide behind your privilege.

 

I don’t know this family except for their public personas, which I do admire. They carry themselves as proud Americans should. Role models all of them for our own great nation. Their public character is clear, and it shines bright like a brilliant coin made of precious metal. America sees them for the American jewels that they are. Why else would nearly 1% of the population of the United States of America find their way, three million of them, to peacefully listen to President Trump speak on January 6, 2021?

 

I have never made money from the blood of Americans. It’s clear that you are pushing the people to their breaking point. Encouraging divisiveness among the population that was just recently considered indivisible. You are either in a state of ignorance as to your moral and ethical obligations, or you are willfully using the power available from the high office you currently hold. Holding successive generations of the same office is noble. America, however, has no place for nobility.

 

It is clear now that several members of this committee will be unable to continue in your current position of power after the next congressional election. You should consider the possibility that in the remaining months you have left pushing forward a politburo-style government, is not the wisest of choices. It is unlikely that in the next six months you will be able to completely wrest control and seize victory over the American people.

 

The glaring facts show that the people’s house is overstepping its position in our American government. Approaching and in all reality by a projection of power the place of not only legislative but judicial and executive as well. You do have this power. You do not have the right to this power. History will not be kind, you can be certain of that.

 

I am not here to help you take down our country. Your attempts to silence the voice of liberty will not succeed. We, the people are deafened by this silence. The roar of it echoes from coast to coast. I am here respectfully because you compel me to be, and to answer questions to the best of my ability, but I won’t step on my integrity for you.

Justice Thomas Wants to End Media’s Ability ‘to Cast False Aspersions on Public Figures’

The Left is a big club, and you’re not in it. Leftists play a game that works this way: the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), one of their primary attack machines, publishes a report purporting to demonstrate that some conservative group or other is a “hate group.” This allegedly objective study is generally a tissue of innuendo, misrepresentations, and outright lies. But nevertheless, leading corporations then cite the SPLC’s study as justification for barring the abhorrent hate group from their various services.

 

The supposedly objective news media solemnly repeats that the group in question has been designated by the SPLC as a “hate group,” as if this were akin to a cancer diagnosis from a sober, disinterested medical professional. But it’s more like a leprosy diagnosis: after all this, the “hate group” is duly ostracized and marginalized. This game has worked for years, with cowardly conservatives playing along and accepting the ostracism of some foremost voices of dissent from the Leftist agenda. But Justice Clarence Thomas on Monday declared that it is high time that this sinister game comes to an end.

 

Thomas dissented from the Court’s denial of a petition for a writ of certiorari in the case of Coral Ridge Ministries Media Inc. v. Southern Poverty Law Center, and it’s a shame that his remarks are in a dissenting opinion on a case the Court declined to hear rather than a majority opinion striking against the SPLC, as the Leftist beast will never be vanquished as long as the SPLC’s wholly unjustified status as an impartial arbiter of what does and does not constitute “hate” that is beyond the pale of acceptable discourse remains unchallenged.

 

Coral Ridge Ministries Media tried to challenge it. As Thomas notes in his dissent, Coral Ridge is “a Christian nonprofit dedicated to spreading the ‘Gospel of Jesus Christ’ and ‘a biblically informed view of the world, using all available media.’” That is not illegal in the United States, but Coral Ridge’s efforts were significantly hampered when the SPLC designated it an “anti-LGBT hate group” for holding what Thomas termed “biblical views concerning human sexuality and marriage.” After this, the ostracism began.

 

Through its AmazonSmile program, Amazon allows its customers to contribute to their favorite charities with their purchases; Coral Ridge, however, despite being an eligible charity as far as the U.S. government is concerned, as it is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was barred from participating in AmazonSmile, on the grounds that the SPLC had designated it a “hate group.”

 

Coral Ridge sued the SPLC for defamation, maintaining that it “has nothing but love for people who engage in homosexual conduct” and “has never attacked or maligned anyone on the basis of engaging in homosexual conduct.” Coral Ridge asserted that the SPLC knew that it wasn’t really a “hate group” at all but tarred it as one nonetheless in order to “destroy the Ministry” by “dissuad[ing] people and organizations from donating” to it.

FBI raids Georgia churches near military bases; sources say church was targeting soldiers

 

The FBI on Thursday raided three churches associated with the House of Prayer Christian Church in Georgia and Texas.

 

The FBI has not released a statement regarding the raids.

 

The House of Prayer is owned by the foreign nonprofit company House of Prayer Christian Churches of America Inc., which registered with the Georgia Secretary of State in 2004. The business's listed officers are affiliated with the Georgia churches and use Hinesville, Georgia, post office boxes as mailing addresses.

 

Its churches, which are primarily located near military bases throughout the country, have been accused by former members and a veterans' advocacy group of operating like a cult and targeting soldiers.

 

In August 2020, Veterans Education Success, an advocacy organization based in Washington D.C., asked the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Georgia Veterans Service to investigate alleged abuses of the GI Bill program by House of Prayer Christian Church’s bible seminaries.

 

Veterans alleged the House of Prayer Christian Church "deceives the VA during inspections and targets veterans in order to access GI Bill funding, VA disability compensation, and VA home loans," according to the organization's letter to the VA and Georgia SAA.

 

Half a dozen FBI agents were seen in the back of the Assembly of Prayer church on Tobacco Road in Hephzibah during a raid that started at about 7:15 a.m. Thursday and continued into the afternoon.

 

According to a search of property records, House of Prayer Christian Churches owns 2952 Old Tobacco Road, the address of the Assembly of Prayer church in Richmond County.

 

At about 1 p.m., agents were seen using stairs at the back of the building during the investigation, according to Sgt. William McCarty with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

 

"We were there to assist them, but referring everything over to the FBI," said McCarty. He said he could not confirm if there were any arrests.

Illegal aliens who reside in the state of Massachusetts will now be able to receive a government-issued driver’s license.

 

On Thursday, the Bay State’s Democrat-controlled legislature voted to overturn Governor Charlie Baker’s recent veto of a bill called “the Work and Family Mobility Act.” With the passage of the new legislation, an estimated 200,000 illegals living in the state will be granted a driver’s license.

 

And, it’s worth pointing out – the ‘200,000 illegals’ estimate was calculated prior to Biden’s open border bonanza. It’s impossible to know how many more have flooded the state since he took office.

 

The new law is set to go into effect on July 1, 2023. Once enacted, Illegals will simply have to pass a written and driving test to receive the documents.

 

Five Democratic senators broke ranks and joined Republicans in support of the Governor’s veto, but it wasn’t nearly enough, as Democrats overwhelmingly outnumber Republicans 37-3 in the state Senate and 127-31 in the House.

 

Opponents of the bill argued, rightly, that the legislation sends a devastating message; mainly, that it is okay to come to America and break the law – not only that but you will be rewarded for it. But that’s the way it goes in Biden’s America.

 

Plus, as Governor Baker pointed out when vetoing the bill last week, the law will likely enable illegal aliens to easily cast votes, therefore interfering with future elections.

Baker, a Republican, said in a statement that he opposed the measure out of concern that it could potentially lead to noncitizens registering to vote.

 

In a statement explaining his veto, Baker also said he was concerned with tasking the state’s registry of motor vehicle workers with the job of deciphering foreign documents and their authenticity.

 

“The RMV does not have the expertise or ability to verify the validity of many types of documents from other countries,” Baker said.

“SECRET Gender Transition Closets,” Where Young Children Can “Trans” Without Their Parents’ Knowledge, Are Popping Up At Schools Across the Country

 

50 years ago… 20 years ago… heck, even 2 years ago under Trump… Would you ever have imagined, in your wildest nightmares, that radical leftist activists calling themselves teachers would be setting up secret areas at school for children to undress and change into trans outfits? And in middle school, no less?

 

Well, unfortunately, that’s exactly the hell that America has found itself in. It’s 2022, Joe Biden is President, parents are labeled terrorists while the actual terrorists are handed billions in high-tech weapons, and schools are allowing teachers to create and maintain “secret gender transition closets” that are used to encourage children to change their clothes along with their gender, behind their parent’s backs.

 

So-called ‘safe spaces’ for gender transition originally started in colleges, and, like all other radical education theories and tactics, these trans closets – a room stocked with transgender clothes and accessories – are now appearing at middle schools and high schools across the country.

 

However, since these are younger children in this scenario and not college students, the trans closets are being used for a much more nefarious agenda – hiding the trans behavior and indoctrination from parents. Instead of simply providing an array of clothing options to wear, the students are told to change into their preferred clothing when they arrive at school and change back out to what they arrived in before going home – that way their parents are kept in the dark about their child’s trans identity.

 

Not only are these children being indoctrinated with a radical sexual ideology that has no basis in reality, but they are also being taught to keep things hidden from them.

 

The Epoch Times provided several examples of these “secret gender transition closets,” which they say are popping up “more” of late, especially in the wake of the “don’t say gay” hullabaloo over Florida’s new Parental Rights bill. In one example, Thomas Martin-Edwards, a transgender California teacher and founder of the “Queer Teacher Fellowship,” explains the true goal of these secret areas in a recent TikTok video.

“The goal of the transition closet is for our students to wear the clothes that their parents approve of, come to school and then swap out into the clothes that fit who they truly are,” the teacher said.

 

The California Family Council and others eventually confirmed the identity of the teacher as Oakland Unified School District Spanish teacher Thomas Martin-Edwards, who is also the founder of “Queer Teacher Fellowship.”

 

Martin-Edwards, the teacher who runs the trans closet, is also transgender. He has posted videos of himself in the classroom showing off the stilettos he wears to school.”

 

As for the school? They are apparently just letting it happen. Neither the district nor the teacher responded when asked for comment by the Epoch Times.

 

Another example comes from Colorado, where another trans closet was found to be in operation at the Denver Conservatory Green Middle School after it was exposed on social media. Naturally, parents and people in the community were outraged, with many tweeting their displeasure at the school, which, like the other one, did not respond when asked for comment.

 

Furthermore, the school is demanding nearly $2,000 to produce public records related to the trans closet.

“‘This is grooming,’ Tweeted one Colorado man, ‘Police should come to the classroom and arrest whoever the teacher is in this classroom.’

 

The original post about the Denver trans closet was made by ‘Buy Nothing Central Park’ and refers to the closet for transgender students as being started at “our school.” It also asks for clothing for the trans closet being dropped off at the school.

 

Megan Fox, a freelance columnist for PJ Media and co-host of the weekly YouTube show “Exposing Family Court Corruption,” recently raised $1,650 through gofundme.com to pay for documents relating to the trans closet at a Colorado school.

 

Fox recently wrote in her column that the school told her she had to pay $1,650 to obtain the documents, which she requested via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). According to Fox, the school said the bill was based on 55 hours of staff time at $30 an hour to fulfill her request.”

At first blush, Jack Nicklaus’ full-throated Twitter endorsement of Donald Trump Wednesday night was not the least bit surprising. The headlines write themselves: Golf course developer endorses another golf course developer. Rich old white man from a rich old white guy sport endorses another rich old white man from the sport.

 

The reaction wasn’t surprising either. While plenty of Twitter accounts supported Nicklaus’ fawning treatise on Trump, many others did not. There was outrage. There was anger. And, worst of all for Nicklaus, there was genuine shock that a beloved role model could let down so many who had rooted for him for decades.

 

To see the replies, not from trolls and bots, but from real people expressing their dismay that Nicklaus would be such an over-the-top Trump supporter, leads one to wonder if Nicklaus perhaps never heard the words of Michael Jordan, who famously explained why he stayed out of politics by saying, “Republicans buy sneakers, too.”

Suicidality Among Transgender Youth: Elucidating the Role of Interpersonal Risk Factors

Abstract

Data indicate that 82% of transgender individuals have considered killing themselves and 40% have attempted suicide, with suicidality highest among transgender youth. Using minority stress theory and the interpersonal theory of suicide, this study aims to better understand suicide risk among transgender youth. The present study examines the influence of intervenable risk factors: interpersonal and environmental microaggressions, internalized self-stigma, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and protective factors: school belonging, family support, and peer support on both lifetime suicide attempts and past 6-month suicidality in a sample of transgender youth (n = 372). SPSS 22 was utilized to examine the impact of the independent variables on both suicidality and lifetime suicide attempt through two separate logistic regressions. Fifty six percent of youth reported a previous suicide attempt and 86% reported suicidality. Logistic regressions indicated that models for both lifetime suicide attempts and suicidality were significant. Interpersonal microaggressions, made a unique, statistically significant contribution to lifetime suicide attempts and emotional neglect by family approached significance. School belonging, emotional neglect by family, and internalized self-stigma made a unique, statistically significant contribution to past 6-month suicidality. Results have significant practice and policy implications. Findings offer guidance for practitioners working with parents and caregivers of trans youth, as well as, for the creation of practices which foster interpersonal belonging for transgender youth.

Like the article accurately states, it's a question of enforcement. As with all laws, it's up to the cop on the beat to make it count. I doubt one of the "trigger law" states will enforce those laws. They'll need to be clear budgeting of policing resources before those things are acted on. In the end, new legislation (and budgeting) will have to written up.

Elections will not legitimize any government if they are rigged. We must end the absurdity whereby a private corporation can be hired to count our votes and then refuse to prove to us exactly how it got the final numbers. If the system is not completely transparent and auditable, you can never be confident in it. You can be completely justified in suspecting that it is fraudulent. When the public no longer trusts those who count the votes, then the outcome will be chaos. The 2020 election was rigged, but it is not up to us to prove that.

Those who seek to destroy or delegitimize the Supreme Court for upholding the Constitution are no better than those who desire to overturn or delegitimize presidential elections. In fact, they probably pose a greater long-term threat to American “democracy.”

 

Now, if you believe the above contention is hyperbole, consider that many leftists aren’t merely advocating for court-packing or nullification of the Dobbs decision; they justify those attacks with a litany of other grievances about the constitutional order.

 

Even as the Supreme Court relinquished its power, and threw the abortion issue–unmentioned anywhere in the Constitution–back to the voters, a horde of j-school graduates and politicians, either ignorant of basic civics or contemptuous of them, descended with panic-stricken warnings about the demise of “democracy.” Almost none of their objections were grounded in any sort of legal arguments about the alleged constitutionality of terminating unwanted human beings. Instead, their case centered around the specious idea that the court had undermined the will of voters by no longer dictating abortion policy by judicial fiat.

 

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who, at this point, sounds virtually indistinguishable from Senate leadership or the authoritarians writing at The Washington Post, points outthat seven of the nine justices on the court “were appointed by a party that hasn’t won a popular vote more than once in 30 years,” that one of their seats “was stolen,” and that “several lied to Congress to secure their appointment…”

 

None of those contentions are true. Every single justice on the court, including the ones Democrats preemptively smeared as deviants to undermine the legitimacy of the court, was nominated using the prescribed constitutional method that is used by every party. And every senator who voted to confirm those justices did so using the only legal process available to them. The “popular vote” is not a real thing.

 

When Democrats win both the Senate and the White House, they have the power to nominate and confirm any justice they desire. But they also seem to be under the impression that when they win only the White House, they’re still authorized to dictate whom Republicans are allowed to confirm (as was the case with Merrick Garland). And when they are completely out of national power, they simply reject the legitimacy of justices who do not meet their invented, evolving, extraconstitutional standards. Democrats treat every victory of the opposition as dubiously attained.

 

“The Founding Fathers wrote a constitution designed to prevent a tyranny of the majority,” says former Barack Obama adviser David Axelrod.“But what happens when you have a tyranny of the minority, gaming the system to promote a radical agenda that flouts the will of the majority under the guise of constitutionalism?” Similar assertions were repeated across the left-wing punditsphere this weekend.

 

Axelrod, in true Obama fashion, begs the question. But the fact that the Electoral Collegedoesn’t align with the “popular vote” isn’t a disqualifying aspect of American politics, it is the very point. If the Electoral College always synchronized with the outcome of the nonexistent direct democratic national tallies, it wouldn’t need to exist. It isn’t a loophole; it is a deliberately created mechanism that stops a handful of states from dominating policy. (Not only is the national vote immaterial, but we really have no idea what one would look like because (winning) candidates do not run up scores in big states, they campaign nationally.)

 

Though I do wonder what remedy Axelrod or Ocasio-Cortez have in mind for this supposed problem? Should the GOP abdicate the presidency to a Democrat every time it fails to win the nonexistent “popular vote”? Should Republican senators from smaller states ignore their constituents and ask Elizabeth Warren for permission to support judicial nominees? Sounds like one-party rule…..

When Utah County Attorney David Leavitt decided to go to Ukraine earlier this week to collect documents from his Kyiv apartment, he’d planned for several contingencies in case the city was invaded by the Russian military.

 

He had extra cash in case the internet went down and the ATMs didn’t work. He’d also rented a car, deciding it safest to not rely on public transportation in case the trains stopped running.

 

But something unexpected happened that halted what was supposed to be aquick trip to Ukraine to gather a few personal items: Leavitt is stuck in Amsterdam after he tested positive for COVID-19.

 

It’s the second time Leavitt has been ill with the coronavirus.

 

Leavitt, who taught in Ukraine with the American Bar Association for more than a decade,has owned an apartment in Kyiv for several years. With news of a threat of a Russian invasion, Leavitt said in an interview on Wednesday that he’d booked the hasty trip to Ukraine to get paperworkproving ownership of his apartment and to collect some personal effects.

 

“We flew from Salt Lake to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to Kiev,” he said Wednesday, “and spent 24 hours there andgot things taken care of then visited with some close friends of ours.”

 

The capital city felt different than previous visits, Leavitt said of landing in Kyiv. He added that Ukrainian friends seemed nervous.

“It felt like there was a tension,” he said. “A feeling of foreboding. It’s right at the front of everyone’s minds. It’s a sad feeling.”

 

“There has been so much troop movement recently,” he said. “[Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s tanks have a far easier time going over frozen ground than muddy ground. That’s not something we think of as Americans.”

 

Thecounty attorneysaid hedecided to go to Ukraineafter seeing news that the American Embassy was evacuating families and personnel and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had moved its missionaries out of the country. He expedited a previously planned trip because he felt he had a window of time where he couldgo with his sons to collect what they needed from the Kyiv apartment.

 

The U.S. Embassy issued an alert on Wednesday urging Americans to leave Ukraine as soon as possible, saying “the security situation in Ukraine continues to be unpredictable due to the increased threat of Russian military action.” It further noted the situation could “deteriorate with little notice.”

Leavitt first left Utah on Sunday, flew back out of Ukraine on Tuesday and received a positive COVID-19 test result early Wednesday while in Amsterdam en route back to Salt Lake City.

He’s now quarantining in a hotel room near the airport in Amsterdam, but says he’s not sure how long he will be required to stay there.

“Thankfully they have a bathrobe,” he said Wednesday. “BecauseI literally went with the clothes on my back. And so now my clothes are drip-drying from my hotel room sink.”

During his years teaching in Ukraine, Leavitt said he instructed law students about the principles of American jury trials. The county attorney said it was the Ukrainian law students’ confusion over how plea deals could work in the United States that made him realize the shortcomings of the criminal justice system. He is now outspoken about wanting reform.

“So much of what I do in the United States, as the Utah County Attorney, is directly tied to years in the Ukraine,” he said. “I’m sad about it, because I not only love the Ukranian people, I have worked hard to help the legal system.”

A Georgia-based gun manufacturer has canceled a scheduled appearance at the National Rifle Association conference after backlash for what some call “incendiary marketing,” forcing the Georgia-based Daniel Defense to drop out of the gun rights lobby’s annual event and lock the company’s Twitter account.

 

Eight days before the Robb Elementary School massacre in Uvalde Texas on Tuesday, the firearm company posted an ad on social media that featured a toddler holding an assault weapon with the caption: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

 

In the week preceding the deadly shooting, Daniel Defense would promote via social media the same gun used by 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, posting on May 20th a modified version of their top-selling DDM4 V7 on Facebook and Instagram:

 

Four days later, mere hours before the elementary school slaughter, Daniel Defense tweeted an almost identical version of Ramos’ DDM4 rifle, one that the company has praised as being “a perfect rifle for everybody.” Nick Sulplina, a former advisor to the New York State Attorney General took to Twitter to point out the company’s marketing efforts.

 

According to NBC News, in the days preceding the 2016 election, Marty Daniel – founder of Daniel Defense – was added to Donald Trump Jr.’s Second Amendment Coalition. Junior’s twice-impeached father would create a “task force” that included NRA members.

 

Daniel Defense raked in $73 million in 2016, and Daniel himself has admitted that mass shootings are “good for business.” The DDM4 V7 rifle used in the Uvalde murders can cost nearly $2000, and pricier firearms upwards of $3000. Nick Penzenstadler at USA Today, shared an excerpt from an interview Daniel had with Forbes magazine:

 

Daniel has lobbied against any gun regulations – common sense, or otherwise — despite the murderous toll of his products. He has told the far-right-wing media outlet, Breitbart, that “second amendment rights come from God, not the government.”

 

Daniel went on a step further in an interview with Breitbart host and columnist AWR Hawkins:

 

“We are in business, we believe, to be a supporter of the gospel. And, therefore, a supporter of the Second Amendment. In other words, not only do we have these Second Amendment rights because God gives them to us but also the gospel.”

 

Daniel Defense’s Facebook tagline is “Faith, Family, Firearms.” In that order.

 

The Uvalde shooting isn’t the first massacre occurring using Daniel Defense assault weapons. In Oct. 2017, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock would use the weaponry in an 11-minute shooting spree from his hotel room window into a country music festival in Las Vegas that ended with 58 dead, and over 800 injured.

 

Daniel may not be attending the NRA Convention, in Houston, Texas on Friday, but his withdrawal from the event is not enough. The event should be canceled altogether out of respect for those lives senselessly lost this week and those who will undoubtedly lose theirs in the future if something isn’t done. Texas is home to increased gun violence and mass shootings, and, according to Fox26 Houston, in the first three weeks of 2022, Houston led the nation in homicides. With 38 murders by January 23rd, Houston experienced more homicides than Los Angeles (26), NYC (20), and Chicago (36).

 

It’s time for Greg Abbott and the Texas GOP to stop working for the gun lobby and start fighting for their constituents.

Sri Lanka’s Economy Has 'Completely Collapsed': PM

 

Sri Lanka’s prime minister is increasing efforts to revive the country’s “completely collapsed” economy amid a lack of foreign exchange reserves and severe shortages of essential items.

 

“We are now facing a far more serious situation beyond the mere shortages of fuel, gas, electricity, and food. Our economy has faced a complete collapse,” Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told parliament on June 22.

 

“It is no easy task to revive a country with a completely collapsed economy, especially one that is dangerously low on foreign reserves,” he said.

 

Sri Lanka will hold a credit aid conference with India, China, and Japan for loan packages. Wickremesinghe said the goal is to reach a “general consensus” on the lending processes as each country has its own system for granting loans.

 

“However, there have been some conflicts and disagreements between us in the recent past. We are working towards resolving these and fostering friendly relations once again,” he added.

 

The government will also seek help from the United States, with representatives from the U.S. Treasury Department visiting Sri Lanka next week.

 

Australia said it would provide Sri Lanka with a $50 million development-assistance package following Wickremesinghe’s meeting with Australia’s Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil on Monday.

 

Wickremesinghe said that Sri Lanka has received a $4 billion credit line from India and requested additional loan assistance from the neighboring country.

 

A top-level Indian delegation is expected to meet with Sri Lankan leaders on June 23 to discuss extending an additional $500 million credit line to Sri Lanka for the purchase of oil, local media Daily Mirror reported.

 

“But even India will not be able to continuously support us in this manner. Even their assistance has its limits. On the other hand, we too must have a plan to repay these loans. These are not charitable donations,” he added.

 

Wickremesinghe said that negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had made progress, with the government expecting to reach an official level agreement with the IMF by the end of July.

I will be heading to Sacramento next Monday to testify at a Senate committee hearing on California Assembly Bill 2098. The bill, sponsored by Senator Pan—who has been in Pharma’s back pocket for years and the source of much legislative health policy mischief in my home state—would give the medical board the authority to punish any physicians who challenge the safety and efficacy of covid vaccines.

 

This bill is advanced even as evidence continues to emerge of safety problems with the mRNA shots, including a study this week showing the vaccines lower sperm counts in men.

But this proposed measure seeks to enshrine in law “scientific” conclusions which are highly dubious:

 

All three of these statements are demonstrably false:

 

(a) The death count figures cited are grossly overestimated by hospitals failing to distinguish dying from covid vs. dying with covid and the financial incentives from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to overestimate covid deaths;

 

(b) the efficacy of vaccines has declined with time and new variants, so the statistic cited here is no longer true of the vaccines against omicron;

 

(c) the CDC has consistently failed to follow-up on serious safety signals, apart from myocarditis, and the post-marketing surveillance data acquired from our FOIA request showed serious safety issues in the first three months of vaccine rollout.

 

If this bill passes, any physician who raises these or other inconvenient scientific facts or study findings could be disciplined by the medical board, as the text of the bill explains:

 

“It shall constitute unprofessional conduct for a physician and surgeon to disseminate misinformation or disinformation related to COVID-19, including false or misleading information regarding the nature and risks of the virus, its prevention and treatment; and the development, safety, and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines.”

 

The supposed scientific “facts” mentioned in the bill make it clear just what information will be considered “misinformation” under this law. This bill will spell the end of scientific integrity and medical freedom in California. I worry that if it passes, other states could follow suit. As I have said before, California is the tip of the spear.

As a licensed physician in California I strongly oppose the proposed California bill AB 2098 and urge you to vote no and oppose as well.

 

Advances in science and medicine typically occur when doctors and scientists challenge conventional thinking or settled opinion. This is the very nature of scientific progress. Fixating any current medical consensus as “unchallengeable” by physicians will stifle medical and scientific advances and give undue authority to a few gatekeepers who act as guardians of the consensus. As I testified in January at a U.S. Senate panel on Covid policy: “The scientific method suffered [during the pandemic] from a repressive academic and social climate of censorship and silencing of competing perspectives. This projected the false appearance of a scientific consensus—a ‘consensus’ often strongly influenced by economic and political interests.”

 

One need only look at the last two years to see how frequently public health recommendations and consensus thinking about Covid changed from one month to the next with the advent of new information. It was frontline ICU physicians who discovered and spoke out about bad outcomes when patients were prematurely placed on ventilators. This shifted the consensus in the direction of avoiding ventilation as much as possible. Likewise, it was frontline physicians who discovered that placing covid patients face-down in the prone position while they were ventilated could improve outcomes, challenging another consensus. Both of these advances came by way of challenging the way things were currently being done. Other physicians challenged the early consensus, which did not recommend the use of steroids to treat Covid. Eventually, this dissenting opinion gained ground and now represents conventional thinking: corticosteroids for critically ill covid patients are now standard care. Many other examples regarding guidelines on masks, social distancing, and other Covid policies could be cited here.

To Arredondo, the choice was logical. An armed killer was loose on the campus of the elementary school. Every second mattered. He wanted both hands free to hold his gun, ready to aim and fire quickly and accurately if he encountered the gunman…

 

Thinking he was the first officer to arrive and wanting to waste no time, Arredondo believed that carrying the radios would slow him down. One had a whiplike antenna that would hit him as he ran. The other had a clip that Arredondo knew would cause it to fall off his tactical belt during a long run.

 

The tactical expert told the Tribune he’d never, ever heard of a cop purposely ditching his radio, and called it “inconceivable” that Arredondo’s force didn’t have a plan for entering any room on any school campus in the district. Arredondo claims that he knew from experience that the school district’s radios wouldn’t work inside some school buildings, which raises the question of … why the hell he didn’t make it a top priority to get fully functioning radios before this incident.

 

How can a school district police force use radios that don’t work inside schools?

 

What we need is a minute-by-minute timeline of what the officers in the hall were doing. How long was it between the time the cops finally found a key that worked and the time they entered the classroom? The Tribune article doesn’t say, instead stressing that Arredondo tried 30+ keys brought to him by a janitor before other officers on the scene got one that opened the door.

 

Did they still hold back after they were able to enter? If so, for how long?

 

Another detail that’s hazy from the Tribune piece is how long it took the cops to begin evacuating the rest of the school once the gunman had locked himself inside the classroom. One might think that would have happened immediately after the standoff began, wanting to get kids in other rooms out of harm’s way before the final confrontation occurred and bullets started flying. But the impression left by the Tribune story is that there was some delay. “At some point, Arredondo tried to talk to the gunman through the walls in an effort to establish a rapport, but the gunman did not respond,” the paper notes; only after that, with shots from inside the classroom penetrating the walls, did it occur to the chief to have police outside pull kids in other rooms to safety through the windows.

 

You’re left with the sense that children were inside the building for an egregiously long time as the cops in the hallway figured out their next move. Remember, Uvalde mom Angeli Gomez reportedly drove 40 miles to the scene after news of the shooting broke, was briefly handcuffed by federal marshals outside, and then made her way into the school to find her two children still inside. (Fortunately they weren’t in the classroom with the gunman.) Why on earth were her kids still in the building at that point?

 

Exit question: If I’m not mistaken, the classroom occupied by the gunman is on the first floor. Was there any attempt to position a sniper outside to take him out through the window in case he strode into view?

Tattoos gave fugitive Nicholas Alahverdian away

An American fugitive who faked his death and disguised himself with a blond moustache and a well-spoken English accent had his cover blown by his tattoos, a court was told.

Nicholas Alahverdian, 34, who also goes by the names of Arthur Knight and Nicholas Rossi, appeared in court yesterday to deny being the man the FBI and Interpol are after.

He was arrested last month at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) after he contracted Covid-19 and is facing extradition to the US, where he is wanted in connection with sexual assault and fraud charges.

Police and hospital staff identified Alahverdian as being Rossi from tattoos on his body that matched pictures the police had.

As of 6/1/22, Maps has visited Uvalde, TX, at least five times: Feb 2008, April 2011, July 2019, December 2021, and May 2022 (no later than 6/1/22, time of this Google Maps review). One of the things you can see on the street view is the date when the image was taken. As of 6/1/22, if you "walk" down the streets around Robb Elementary, two time lines of interest emerge: December 2021 and May 2022.

 

December 2021 sees an isolated path taken amidst earlier mapping (primarily April 2011 time line).

 

  • The mapping appears to start and stop within a collection of older street view mappings.

  • The path of the streets view pass three points of interest: the funeral home, the place where the truck was wrecked, and side of Robb Elementary where the shooter was purported to have entered the building.

  • The December 2021 path goes around the elementary school (North and East sides), segments terminating at the edge of the parking lots.

  • Can't say for certain, but the December 2021 path appears to terminate into a May 2022 path, US Hwy 83.

  • While it cannot be immediately known when the May 2022 was created, it was done at latest by the time of the shooting.

 

As of 6/5/22, something unusual occurs.

 

  • If you traverse the North and East sides of the school in Google Maps, the dates are all now May 2022, whereas before they where April 2011.

  • A new May 2022 route now exists, having one segment in common: North side of Robb Elementary, two blocks from Perez St. to Old Carrizo Rd.

  • The new route (May 2022) starts in the same place as the earlier route (December 2021): Evans St., sharp left back on Nicolas St. (runs parallel to drainage ditch, same one car crashed into), turns right onto Geraldine.

 

What're the odds a certain company sends out a car twice in one month to remap the same segment of road? Why map this in May, same month as the shooting, when you've already mapped the main drag earlier in the same month, not re-map side roads, and when they'd already captured those streets in December, six months earlier?? One would think that a company basically known for AI shit would've heard of the "traveling salesman problem" and not mapped the same place twice in six months??

 

Was the initial mapping in December to get fixed landmarks for a certain three-letter-agency's plane that visited?

 

Take a "streets" walk, you'll see what I mean . . .
