Hopes high for next virus: one jab is fit for all

JAMIE WALKER - NOVEMBER 25, 2022

Australian scientists have developed a one-stop vaccine for pandemic viruses that promises to be available within weeks of another Covid-style threat erupting.

The breakthrough was announced on Friday by the makers of the molecular clamp technology which went tantalisingly close to delivering a homemade immuniser for coronavirus in 2020. The reworked Clamp2 platform is designed to go after a range of lethal viruses, including those responsible for influenza, Nipah, ebola, Lassa fever and rodent-transmitted arenavirus – all seen as having potential to trigger another global crisis.

University of Queensland Rapid Response Vaccine Pipeline co-leader Keith Chappell, a key member of the original molecular clamp team, said the new formulation could be produced in 150 days from when a virus was genetically sequenced, on track to meet a target of 100 days.

“That’s definitely the goal we have,” Dr Chappell told The Weekend Australian. “It would be incredibly tough but this is a safeguard to prevent this ever happening again.”

The one-stop vaccine worked on a “plug and play” basis, meaning it could be tailored to quickly meet a new menace, he said. The international Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation, CEPI, has injected $8.5m into the project, part of its backing of research internationally to hit the 100-day objective.

Standing alongside Clamp2 team members, CEPI executive director of R&D Melanie Saville said another pandemic was inevitable, a matter of “when, not if”.

It had taken 326 days to make the first Covid-19 vaccine available – seen as a feat of science at the time – but lives and expense would be saved if the development time could be compressed.

“It’s too early to say whether they are going to absolutely hit 100 days,” she said of the Clamp2 offering. “But I think it is really possible a rapid response platform could work against a number of different viruses that could cause a pandemic threat.”

Dr Chappell said the revised vaccine platform had met “all expectations” in testing to date, producing stabilised antigens and inducing strong neutralising immune responses.

“Importantly, this re-engineered technology does not pose any issue with diagnostic interference as was encountered in 2020,” Dr Chappell said.

The original clamp vaccine for Covid had to be abandoned after it was found to have induced false positive readings to HIV, a massive setback to the national vaccine rollout. The federal government had ordered 51 million doses in the expectation the immuniser would get through the proving process.

Dr Chappell said the HIV issue had been resolved in Clamp2, though commercial confidentiality prevented him from saying how. The new uber-vaccine was due to enter a phase-1 human safety trial in March, next step in a three- to four-year process to secure approval should it clear the regulatory hurdles.

The initial clinical batch of the Clamp2 vaccine would be manufactured at the Queensland node of the National Biologics Facility, housed within UQ’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology.

Interim NBF director Ben Hughes said volunteers in the safety trial would receive a formulation for Covid. “While we have selected a Clamp2 SARS-CoV-2 vaccine for the trial, this is to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential benefits of this platform compared to a currently licensed Covid-19 vaccine,” he said.

Associate professor Dan Watterson, who spearheaded the successful Clamp2 redesign, said it was important for people to understand the ultimate aim was not to rush a new Covid-19 vaccine to market. “This is about the role this technology could play in safeguarding against future pandemics,” Dr Watterson said.

Elon Musk said Friday night that he would support Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida, if he ran for president in 2024.

Musk, in a series of Twitter exchanges, elaborated somewhat on his political views, saying, “My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone sensible and centrist. I had hoped that would the case for the Biden administration, but have been disappointed so far.”

He called himself a “significant supporter of the Obama-Biden presidency and (reluctantly) voted for Biden over Trump.”

When one of the people he was tweeting with asked if he’d back DeSantis in the next presidential election, Musk responded: “Yes.”

Musk bought Twitter Inc. nearly a month ago and last weekend reinstated the Twitter account of former President Donald Trump, who has announced another run for the White House. Trump, whose account was suspended shortly after the assault on the US Capitol by a mob of his supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, has yet to post any new tweets.

“I’m fine with Trump not tweeting,” Musk said on Twitter Friday night. “The important thing is that Twitter correct a grave mistake in banning his account, despite no violation of the law or terms of service. Deplatforming a sitting President undermined public trust in Twitter for half of America.”

Musk said in June that he was leaning toward a DeSantis endorsement, and the two men have exchanged acclaim for one another.

Musk’s expression of support comes as many party leaders, including onetime Trump allies, have been talking up DeSantis as a more desirable standard bearer than the former president in the next election. The Florida governor won a resounding re-election victory in the Nov. 8 election, even as many of the Republican candidates championed by Trump went down to defeat.

Musk, who’s also the chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. and SpaceX, hasn’t made a federal political donation since 2020. He also has not contributed to DeSantis’s campaigns for governor.

After Musk restored Trump’s Twitter account, civil rights leaders urged major advertisers to stay away from the social media platform. The activists said Musk broke promises he made to them in a closed-door meeting about hate speech and misinformation.

Trump is obligated to make most social media posts on Truth Social, the platform he launched after his Twitter ban, first, according to a filing, although there’s an exception for political messages.

On Wednesday Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, along with Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, deposed Anthony Fauci (head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases [NIAID]) at the National Institutes for Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported in May that the Missouri and Louisiana Attorneys General filed a lawsuit (Missouri v. Biden) against the Biden Administration, including Joe Biden himself, Anthony Fauci, the Department of Homeland Security and nearly a dozen federal agencies and Secretaries.

Fauci was deposed on Wednesday. And The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft and attorney John Burns were present at the deposition and witnessed the questioning for seven hours.

During questioning, Dr. Fauci admitted that he got the idea for the unprecedented economic lockdowns in America based on the draconian measures taken by the Communist Chinese regime.

Fauci sent his longtime co-hort Clifford Lane to China in February to assess the situation. Lane was enthralled with the Chinese measures and pushed the idea on Dr. Fauci.

Of course, Fauci did not question the information despite Communist China’s history of falsified information.

Sauer: “So he drew the conclusion that there might have to be extreme, in his word, measures to mandate social distancing to bring the outbreak under control; correct?”

Fauci: “That’s what this is implying, yes… He did discuss with me that the Chinese 19 had a very organized way of trying to contain the spread in Wuhan and elsewhere. He didn’t get a chance to go to Wuhan, but he was in Beijing, and I believe other cities — at least Beijing — and he mentioned that they had a very organized well regimented way of handling the outbreak.

Sauer: “And so he had a kind of positive reaction to that. There might be lessons to be learned for the United States in its response to the outbreak?”

Fauci: “I believe Dr. Lane came to the conclusion that when you have a widespread respiratory disease that a very common and effective way to curtail the rapid spread of the disease is by implementing social distancing measures… Dr. Lane is a very astute clinician, and I have every reason to believe that his evaluation of the situation was accurate and correct.”

Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, MD, a plaintiff in the case, posted a long thread on Twitter on this Fauci admission.

Fauci stripped Americans of their constitutional rights based on highly suspect results by the Chinese.

I was thinking about looking up Sheriff Mack and asking about it. I am certain he would know. There is a Constitutional Law class for Sheriffs now. And I think I remember he was the Sheriff that started the Con-Law class for Sheriffs.

This case has to be one of the biggest cases in it.

Until I find the one where the Sheriffs arrested the feds, I can leave you this one, which was decided around the same time. It had to do with Sheriffs refusing to enforce the Federal Brady bill, but, I do not think they arrested one of the Feds in this case. Still, it is a big one on the power of sheriffs.

I really want to know the name of the case where the Feds were arrested. One was arrested for killing cows, while the next county over, an IRS agent happened to be running around freezing people's bank accounts. If I recall, two sheriffs arrested both of the feds in two different counties, so I'll give it a dig, mebbe look up the class and even phone call tomorrow in the afternoon.

When I find that case I'll do a post, maybe it will get into notables tomorrow.

I poasted this in bunker but you know how we flip the polls on twat and all polls really, except they cheat, but we should do an experiment and see if we get organized and get it to where we can get things trending on Truth Social. I member in facebook we organized a "black ops" group, (fuck it was so funny) and we'd all meet there and admins would post a time and designated anti Trump lib group we would raid. We'd give ourselves a day or two to get everyone in the group (hundreds of us) to join the target group and once in we would invite as many as we could from the black ops group. Then we would remain quiet and hidden until scheduled time of attack and at set time we'd ambush the group. The first one was called "Operation Free Donald Trump" and it was a "lock up Donald Trump" libtard group. PMSL It was so fuckken hilarious. They thought we were Russian bots. #DED! Good times. We should try to organize raids, etc, KMFAO. Or at least decide on the hash tag trends we want for the day or the week. Maybe we have a slow start but if we stick to it, it could turn out to be pretty Qool.
