Basically, "elected" representatives aren't representing the will or needs of their constituents; a breach of contract between The People and the federal gov't (the contract being the US Constitution). The White House confirmed plans for Biden and Zelensky to meet and participate in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.) Zelensky will not leave Washington, DC, without a warm welcome from Biden, as reports detail plans for the Ukrainian president to visit the White House. The president has taken pride in his unfailing support for Ukraine after Russia invaded, rallying American allies to their cause. β€œThe idea that Putin is ever going to defeat Ukraine is beyond comprehension,” Biden said earlier in December after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the ongoing conflict. Stephen Miller, a senior policy advisor during the Trump White House, and Brian Jack, Trump's political director, were among more than a dozen people in the former president's circle who were subpoenaed by a federal grand jury this week, The Times reported.

 

Miller and Jack did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

 

The subpoenas appear to seek information on Trump's main fundraising operation, Save America, which was formed after the 2020 election, and the alleged plot to overturn the 2020 vote by sending a slate of fake electors to contested states, per The Times.

 

On Thursday, The Times also reported that the DOJ is looking into the PAC based on about a half a dozen subpoenas to lower-level former Trump aides, including Nicholas Luna and Ivanka Trump's chief of staff, Julie Radford. It remains unclear why exactly the PAC is being investigated and how it might relate to the Capitol riot

 

The subpoenas for Miller and Jack are also related to the Trump PAC as well as the 2020 electors scheme, per The Times.

 

On top of the ongoing probe of Trump's handling of official government records, the DOJ is investigating the Capitol breach, any obstruction of that investigation, and the fake electors plot.

 

Miller was subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating January 6 for his phone records earlier this year. The advisor filed a suit to block the subpoena, CNN reported. He previously sat for a deposition with the panel.

 

Jack, who still advises Trump, was also subpoenaed by the committee last year.

 

So far, at least 40 members of Trump's circle are publicly known to have cooperated with federal and congressional investigators.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has hired Brian Jack, former President Trump’s White House political director, to lead his own congressional political operation, Axios reported on Sunday.

 

Jack is one of a few Trump officials who had worked with the former president starting with his 2016 campaign until his final days in office.

 

According to Axios, McCarthy met Jack through Trump. McCarthy thinks the hire will contribute to his fundraising and recruitment efforts, in addition to strategy, Axios noted.

 

McCarthy is leading efforts for Republicans to win back the House majority in 2022 and the hiring of Jack means McCarthy keeps a close connection to Trump and in particular, his base. Axios reported that Jack was viewed as Trump’s lead when it comes to congressional elections.

 

The Hill has reached out to McCarthy’s office for confirmation of Jack’s hire.

 

McCarthy has said previously that he would bet his house on the GOP takes back the chamber during the next midterm election after narrowing the political party split during the 2020 cycle.

 

β€œWe’re going to get the majority back. We’re five seats away. I would bet my house on it,” McCarthy said during an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference last month.

 

During the same speech, McCarthy credited Trump for the Republicans’ strong showing in November’s congressional races, saying his campaigning helped mobilize voters on election day.

 

β€œThis is the first time since 1994 that no incumbent Republican lost. We beat 15 Democrats. You know who the 15 Democrats lost to? Conservative women and conservative minorities,” McCarthy said.

They helped broker a deal by which a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill will likely clear both the House and Senate β€” with some GOP votes in the latter chamber so as to not hold up the process β€” in time for the Christmas break. β€œThe legislation includes $772.5 billion for non-defense discretionary programs and $858 billion in defense funding, according to a bill summary from Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy, chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations,” CNN reported Tuesday. β€œThe sweeping package includes roughly $45 billion in emergency assistance to Ukraine and NATO allies, boosts in spending for disaster aid, college access, child care, mental health and food assistance, more support for the military and veterans and additional funds for the US Capitol Police, according to Leahy’s summary and one from Sen. The people in charge of spending. The people in charge of both of the parties. β€œWhen did they know that this would be necessary? Well, it is in the law. Sept. 30. As House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy seeks to fend off intraparty opposition to his bid to become the next House speaker, several Republicans are reportedly huddling behind another top member of their party for a possible leadership challenge. A group of lawmakers has approached No. 2 Republican Rep. Steve Scalise (LA) about running for House speaker in the next Congress should McCarthy’s bid fail, telling him to β€œjust be ready,” sources familiar told Politico. Scalise could offer a more agreeable alternative to McCarthy, as the House minority leader has faced opposition from a handful of Republicans that has threatened to derail his speakership bid. Publicly, the Louisiana Republican has declined to comment on the matter, instead pointing to previous statements he made endorsing McCarthy and maintaining he would not run against him. Instead, Scalise launched a bid for House majority leader, being elected to the No. 2 position in November after running uncontested. Trump declared negative income on his federal returns in 2015, 2016, and 2017, with $0 taxable income for each year, according to the report. However, the report by Democrats on Tuesday found that the former president was making tens of millions of dollars annually from 2015 to 2020. Some of the most notable numbers from the report include Trump’s 2016 and 2017 tax returns, in which he declared negative income and paid only $750 in tax returns for both years, the report shows. In 2020, he similarly reported a negative income and paid $0 β€” instead claiming a $5.47 million tax refund.

 

Trump decried release as part of β€˜political game’

Trump has long fought against the release of his tax returns while he was in office and even after he left. However, his efforts were shot down by the Supreme Court last month when it ruled the House Ways and Means Committee could have access to his tax returns. While in office, Trump repeatedly claimed his returns were under IRS audits that justified his refusal to release the records to the public. While it was not mandatory to release his tax returns, Trump’s actions broke with a yearslong tradition that saw presidents voluntarily releasing their records to the public. Trump responded to the panel’s vote to release his tax returns publicly on Tuesday, denouncing the move as being politically motivated. "If they are so hell-bent on releasing President Trump's tax returns β€” which show he built a very successful business and created numerous lucrative assets throughout his career β€” they should release the tax returns of Nancy Pelosi," said Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, in a statement to Newsweek.

 

What next?

The House Ways and Means Committee will now prepare to release six years’ worth of Trump’s tax returns for public review, detailing the former president’s tax payments, charitable donations, and other financial obligations. It’s not clear when the full trove of documents will be released to the public, as the panel must first redact any sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers and bank account information. The records will come at a crucial time for Trump as he seeks a third White House bid and attempts to fight off a handful of other criminal investigations.

 

House Democrats scrambled to get their hands on Trump’s tax returns to release publicly before the end of the year, seeking to accomplish the years long goal before the party cedes control of the lower chamber to Republicans in January.

On its yearly trek through planet Earth's skies, at this solstice the Sun reaches its southern most declination, 23.5 degrees south, at 21:48 UTC. About 4 days ago the Sun was near this seasonal southern limit and so only just above the horizon at local noon over Ostersund in central Sweden. This view looking over the far northern lakeside city finds the midday Sun with a beautiful solar ice halo. Naturally occurring atmospheric ice crystals can produce the tantalizing halo displays, refracting and reflecting the sunlight through their hexagonal geometry. Still, with the Sun low and near the horizon in the clear sky, likely sources of the ice crystals producing this intense halo are snow cannons. Operating at a local ski area, the snowmaking machines create a visible plume at the top of the nearby island Froson toward the right side of the panorama.

Latest β€˜Twitter Files’ reveal the platform helped the Pentagon’s covert information operations

 

Adding to recent revelations of Twitter’s coordination with federal law enforcement and intelligence officials to ban domestic users and censor their posts, the latest installment of Elon Musk’s β€œTwitter Files” shows company executives working with the Pentagon despite Twitter’s pledge to detect and disrupt state-backed information operations on its platform. β€œBut behind the scenes, Twitter gave approval & special protection to the U.S. military’s online psychological influence ops,” wrote investigative journalist Lee Fang. β€œDespite knowledge that Pentagon propaganda accounts used covert identities, Twitter did not suspend many for around 2 years or more. Some remain active,” wrote Mr. Fang, a reporter for The Intercept. In one 2017 email, a contractor from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) asked Twitter to add a verification checkmark and β€œwhitelist” several Arab language accounts that the military used to β€œamplify certain messages.” β€œIf you need any sort of paperwork of verification from our office or [U.S. Special Operations Command], please let me know,” the email reads. β€œAlso, our SOCOM guys mentioned that they’d love to be able to come and meet up for a face-to-face to talk if you think the right Twitter folks would be up for it.” The CENTCOM accounts were used by the military to promote anti-Iranian messages and the U.S.-backed war in Yemen and touted accurate drone strikes that the U.S. claimed took out only combatants. In a July 2020 email to her colleagues Angele Sherrer and James Baker, Ms. Cardille discussed an upcoming classified briefing that the Pentagon was attempting to arrange with social media executives. β€œI heard from Facebook that they are securing SCIFs in DC and San Francisco for a meeting,” she said, referring to Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities used to hold highly classified briefings. β€œI have some significant concerns that the motivations for classifications are slightly different than the ones you outlined in the email below,” Ms. Cardille continued. β€œI think it is possible DOD is using retroactive classification to obfuscate their activity in this space and that this may represent an overclassification to avoid embarrassment.”

 

An August 2022 report by the Stanford Internet Observatory exposed hundreds of these accounts across Facebook, Telegram, Twitter and other online platforms. β€œIn subsequent reporting, Twitter was cast as an unbiased hero for removing β€˜a network of fake user accounts promoting pro-Western policy positions,’” Mr. Fang wrote. β€œMedia covering the story described Twitter as evenly applying its policies & proactive in suspending the DoD network.” But Mr. Fang said Twitter waited years to suspend Pentagon accounts it had identified as violating its rules and said Twitter’s communications team kept in close touch with reporters to minimize Twitter’s exposure to bad press amid the fallout. In one email, Twitter executives strategized their response to a Washington Post story on the Pentagon’s β€œsweeping review of clandestine psychological operations.” β€œI suspect this piece will get more attention in Washington with the DoD angle β€” we’ll keep you posted,” a Twitter employee wrote, notifying her colleagues that β€œwe declined to comment.” β€œWhen the WashPost reported on the scandal, Twitter officials congratulated each other because the story didn’t mention any Twitter employees & focused largely on the Pentagon,” Mr. Fang wrote.

 

Republicans on the House Oversight and Reform Committee sent letters to Mr. Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg requesting documents and communications from the companies for a congressional probe β€œto uncover any unconstitutional actions by government officials or agents working on their behalf.” Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee are demanding several Big Tech companies hand over documents for its probe into the Biden administration’s attempts to curtail online freedom of speech.

This is just icing on the cake that the U.S. Military had a sworn, solemn duty to intervene to Preserve the Republic after witnessing The Three Branches of Government reject their Constitutional obligation to investigate and rectify the massive election and voter fraud during the 2020 election.

Stanford puts kibosh on β€˜American’ in bid to eliminate β€˜harmful language’

 

Lee Greenwood may want to keep quiet about how he’s proud to be an American the next time he visits Stanford University. The word β€œAmerican” is one of dozens on the chopping block under the universityβ€˜s Elimination of Harmful Language Initiative, launched in May by Stanfordβ€˜s University IT department to eradicate β€œracist, violent and biased” language in websites and code. The 13-page document lists terms under categories such as β€œAbleist,” β€œColonialist” and β€œCulturally Appropriative,” and suggests replacement words. For β€œAmerican,” the preferred term is β€œU.S. Citizen.” β€œThis term often refers to people from the United States only, thereby insinuating that the US is the most important country in the Americas (which is actually made up of 42 countries),” the initiative reads. Among those pushing back is Stanford School of Medicine professor Jay Bhattacharya. β€œI remember how proud I was when I became a naturalized American citizen. I’m still proud to be an American, and I don’t care that @Stanford disapproves of my using the term,” Mr. Bhattacharya tweeted. The document, now hidden behind a secure sign-in on the website but still available through a link on the Stanford Review, also frowns on β€œHispanic” and suggests β€œLatinx,” even though a 2020 Pew Research poll found only 3% of U.S. Hispanics surveyed use the term. Jack Dorsey donated roughly 14 BTC, worth about $245,000, to further fund development of Nostr (short for Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays).

After it was reported that Jack Dorsey will donate $1 million annually to encrypted messaging app Signal, Koty Auditore took to Twitter to urge Dorsey to fund Nostr, following a blog post where Dorsey published his views on the need for a native internet protocol for social media.

Dorsey replied to the tweet two hours later, saying he was β€œfiguring out how to do that.” Roughly 24 hours after that, he deployed funds to developer fiatjaf.

Nostr is an open protocol that aims to create a censorship-resistant global social network. The protocol doesn’t rely on a trusted central server; instead, all users run a client. Using this client, users publish content by writing a post, signing it with their private key and sending it to other servers which then relay that content along. The relays are simple: Their only job is to accept posts and forward them along to relay participants.

Dorsey co-founded Twitter in 2006 and departed the company on Nov. 29, 2021, so that the company could move on from its founders. He remained the CEO of Block, a company dedicated to furthering economic empowerment through its portfolio companies. Since his departure from Twitter, the now-Elon Musk-owned company has experienced a rough patch, prompting some users to seek alternatives such as Urbit and Mastodon.

Richer, a Republican who was elected in 2020, has created a new political action committee called Pro-Democracy Republicans of Arizona. β€œIt’s a Crisis” – Massive Increase in the Number of Dead Forces Funeral Homes in Norway to Store the Dead in Garage

 

Funeral homes in Norway sound the alarm as they struggle to store all the dead people as a result of Norway’s skyrocketing excess mortality rate.

 

The number of people needing funeral services in Trondheim City, Central Norway, has risen dramatically, according to the local newspaper Dagbladet Trondheim.

 

Lars Svanholm, the fourth-generation general manager of Trondheim’s largest funeral home, Svanholm & Vigdal Gravferd, has said that the funeral home’s century-long history has never seen anything like the current number of deaths.

 

β€œIt is a marked increase, and we have not experienced anything like it in four generations,” Lars Svanholm told Dagbladet.

 

Svanholm believes that the funeral home has seen a 30 percent increase in deaths this year compared to last year.

 

β€œWe have not had such an increase since the company started in 1922,” said Svanholm to local tv.

 

In order to deal with the increasing number of dead, they have opened a cool emergency room in a garage.

 

Capacity constraints forced families to wait more than two weeks to bury their loved ones.

The constantly high demand has had unusual consequences for Svanholm and the agency’s 26 employees.

 

β€œFor us, it has created enormous challenges with everything from refrigerator capacity to access to ceremony rooms, so there has been some waiting time for survivors,” says Svanholm.

 

At times there has been such a high demand that they have had to use garages and other backup solutions such as cold rooms. This has previously only been common in acute crises.

 

β€œWe have a crisis preparedness if there are large numbers of deaths in a short time. In plane crashes and other major accidents, it is used, but now we have had to use it also with ordinary deaths,” says Svanholm.

 

β€œI don’t think the peak has been reached.”

 

According to Svanholm, survivors risk waiting 15-20 days between death and burial, because churches and other ceremony rooms are busy.

 

β€œThe grieving process can be characterized by the bereaved having to wait longer than normal. Some people are disappointed when they may have to wait an extra week to have a funeral, but they understand the problem,” says Svanholm.

 

Although there are busy days, he does not think the peak has been reached.

 

β€œWe are a little nervous about the upcoming flu season, and hope people understand that they may have to wait a little. When they are in the middle of a death, this is not the kind of message they want to receive.”

Breitbart Texas reviewed a Monday directive to all Customs and Border Protection managers which gags them from releasing migrant apprehension statistics through social media accounts or directly to the public without the express approval of the Department of Homeland Security. The directive precludes Border Patrol managers from releasing any interim arrest statistics or stories as the decision over the potential end Title 42 enforcement now sits before the Supreme Court.

 

The source, not authorized to speak to the media, says the message is intended to curb routine disclosures of migrant apprehensions near the southern border. These are generally provided by Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agents via social media and comments to journalists. The unprecedented directive was circulated on Monday and took immediate effect.

 

The order was sent under the title β€œDHS OPA guidance on social media coordination for the lifting of Title 42.” The order was later clarified to impose a ban on the direct communication with outlets or platforms regarding the release of migrant apprehension statistics without DHS approval. DHS OPA is the acronym for the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Public Affairs.
