The Kennesaw State University Election Hacks in Georgia – How the FBI Never Investigated and Turned on the Whistleblowers Instead

We are seeing a pattern here.

 

Here is the timeline after the 2017 KSU election hacks in Georgia. A FOIA document revealed the FBI never investigated the hacks and turned on the whistleblowers instead.

 

One of the most detailed examples of the FBI’s failure to investigate election fraud involves Georgia and KSU. Until a few years ago, Kennesaw State University ran the election servers for the State of Georgia. In early 2017 they were hacked, and the FBI was brought in. The FBI purposely shelved their investigation shortly after they opened it.

 

We can finally explain what happened over the years.

 

In August 2016 cyber security researchers Logan Lamb and Christopher Gray discovered it was easy to access the Georgia voting databases. This included staff passwords, access to software that runs the devices, and data on their 6.7 million voters. Lamb notified KSU of the security vulnerabilities. KSU asked Lamb to keep quiet. Over the next few months, KSU elections IT staff noticed intrusion attempts by DHS. KSU Elections Systems answered to Brian Kemp, Georgia’s Secretary of State at that time.

 

In December of 2016, to appease the KSU IT staff, Kemp sent a letter to DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson. He asked why the DHS tried to penetrate Georgia’s election servers at least 10 times. Other DHS attacks were documented to be Nov. 7th and 8th, the day before and day of Trumps election win. But Kemp’s letter only asked about one specific attempt, a week after the election, on November 15th at 8:43 AM. He did not mention these other attacks. The Digital Forensics and Analysis Unit of the DHS OIG were tasked to investigate this one instance. Was it deliberate to focus on just this one instance?

 

A few months later, in March 2017, the KSU servers were breached. They were hacked, data was deleted, and altered. Because of the previous whistleblower warnings, Kennesaw State’s CIO Stephen Gay was forced to alert their Center for Elections Systems about this “data breach”. Gay also had to contact the FBI. The FBI opened an investigation into the hacking. The FBI went to KSU and made forensic images of the election servers.

 

Three months later, in June 2017, Republican Karen Handel beat Jon Osoff by 3.8% in a District 6 runoff election. Liberal activists alleged the system might have been hacked. On July 3rd 2017, they filed a lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court (Curling v. Kemp). Their lawsuit wanted Georgia to replace the outdated (DRE) election machines. The lawyers who defended SOS Kemp in this lawsuit were from the Georgia AG’s office.

 

Two days after the (Curling v Kemp) lawsuit was filed, the DHS responded to Kemp’s KSU intrusion letter, sent 7 months earlier. The DHS OIG concluded the “November 15th scan” was residual traffic from an employee at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. They said that the employee was just checking the Georgia firearms license database. The OIG said Microsoft Engineers even agreed. That was it, case closed. There was no investigation into intrusion occurrences that occurred the day before, during, and day after the 2016 election.

 

Three days after the (C v K) lawsuit was filed, the administration at KSU had their staff delete all the election servers. Their IT staff admitted they DBAN’d (nuked) the servers. Their internal KSU emails showed on July 6th2017, that “election hard drives were degaussed three times”. The backup servers were deleted on August 9th. This data removal was kept from the public, until October 2017, when journalists obtained those KSU’s internal emails.…

The Georgia AG’s office, those defending Kemp, continued to lie to the Plaintiffs. The AGI said the server data could not be provided, it was deleted before their lawsuit. But the AG’s office knew KSU ordered the servers to be wiped after the lawsuit was filed. These AG lies were made public when the “Georgia Wipes Servers” story broke on October 26th 2017 and showed the KSU emails. A few days later, Assistant AG Cristina Correia withdrew the entire AG’s office from the (C v K) case due to “newly found” conflicts of interest. The Plaintiffs immediately requested the FBI turn over their copy of the KSU servers. The FBI stalled this release for 26 months, with no justification why.

 

After the GA AG’s office withdrew, the U.S. House held a hearing, in December 2017. FBI Director Wray refused to answer if the FBI was investigating the Georgia KSU election hacking. He wouldn’t even admit if they had the server data. In early 2020 a judge hearing a FOIA case forced the FBI to turn over communications. It was then provided to the Associated Press. It showed why FBI Wray was silent. The docs show the FBI never examined the KSU server for tampering by malicious outsiders.

 

Instead, the FBI targeted and attacked the two researchers who earlier alerted KSU about their election security risks (Lamb & Gray). An FBI document dated Oct. 23, 2017 said the FBI planned from the onset for the entire matter to be shelved once the forensic drive image was placed in the case file.FOIA docs show the FBI did nothing for months, closed the case, and no one was ever charged.

 

Judge Amy Totenberg’s decision in the (C v K) lawsuit gave Georgia the green light it needed to purchase new election equipment. In July 2019, Kemp who was now governor, signed an $107m agreement with Dominion. In December 2019, only after Georgia took delivery of the Dominion equipment, did the FBI release their KSU server copy to the Plaintiffs (Curling). The Plaintiffs then offered this copy to Brad Raffensperger, who was now the new GA Secretary of State. Raffensperger refused to submit the server data to a forensic examination.

 

The Plaintiff’s created a team to inspect the KSU server data, which included Logan Lamb, the original whistleblower. Lamb’s affidavitsays logs were deleted and data altered. “Logs only go back to November 10th, 2016, two days after Donald Trump was elected.” It appears hackers accessed the system and conveniently deleted logs covering all the DHS intrusions. Lamb says he found “scores of files” that had been deleted on March 2, 2017, which is just a few days before KSU handed the server over to the FBI. Numerous other breaches were detected and millions of voter records were accessed. Lamb noted “an attacker obtained full control of the server way back in 2014 by exploiting a bug”.

 

A protective order was placed on Logan Lamb to prevent him from speaking about his findings. Neither the FBI or DHS did anything about the KSU election server breach. The DOJ did nothing about the corruption by the Georgia AG’s office. It’s probably no coincidence the FBI refused to cooperate until after a Dominion contract was negotiated with GA, and $106 mil worth of equipment was delivered?

Hawaii Gov. Josh Green: “There are Going to be Fires Month in and Month Out All Across the Country”

 

Failure to alert the people of Maui with the siren system was intentional. Maui Emergency Management Agency Administrator Herman Andaya was asked whether he regretted not sounding the alarms, which are part of a larger statewide network, and he replied, “I do not,” and said that the alarms would have sent residents inland “into the fire.” Andaya has now resigned from his office.

Hawaiian Governor Josh Green said, “Right now, people, we are working to find out how we can make sure it’s safe as we go through hurricane season, as we deal with the reality that there are going to be fires month in and month out, for the decades to come, and not just in Hawaii, but all across the country. Report: Dept. of Defense Pilot Diseases and Injuries Rose Dramatically After COVID Shots

 

Last week, we reported that a pilot died while flying a plane from Miami to Chile and, in a separate incident in India, a pilot died before his flight in the airport. There is a new report that a pilot for Qatar Airways was traveling in the passenger cabin of a Delhi to Doha flight as an additional crew member when he suffered a cardiac arrest and died. There have been a number of other pilots who have suffered cardiac arrest recently during flight or in the airport (here, here, and here). Senator Ron Johnson is concerned that the increase in aviators’ health problems and deaths is linked to COVID vaccines, which were mandated by many airlines for pilots and onboard staff in order to keep their jobs.

A whistleblower reported that the total number of diseases and injuries in pilots across the Department of Defense was 265 in 2016; 252 in 2017; 164 in 2018; 223 in 2019; 2,194 in 2020; 2,861 in 2021; and 4,059 in 2022.

This may still be true, but in the ancient times, cannabis was indeed used as medicine, often for fatal causes.

 

I've been overusing it, and I will probably not use it until December or so, and even then, just once a week.

Curtis Sliwa Among Arrests at Migrant Shelter Protest

Guardian Angels founder and former New York City mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa was among those arrested Sunday at a street protest of a Staten Island shelter for asylum seekers.

 

Backlash has come from the community and local elected official since a former assisted living facility was selected to house some of the migrants who have streamed into New York City, silive.com reported.

 

Another rally also was held on Staten Island last week, the news outlet noted.

 

Protesters filled sidewalks, a road median, and a portion of a major boulevard as speakers argued against the shelter at Sunday's protest, headed by Sliwa, Staten Island artist Scott LoBaido, and former New York City comptroller candidate John Tabacco.

 

Signs and chants demanded "close the borders," and "stop the invasion," silive.com reported. Police monitored the event and provided crowd control.

 

"I've taken it upon myself to lead this effort with good people all throughout New York state, because they are not going to get away with invading our country with illegal aliens," Sliwa told the crowd, the news outlet reported.

 

He also called on Mayor Eric Adams to open up the official mayoral residence, Gracie Mansion, to asylum-seekers rather than opening shelter sites across the city's five boroughs.

 

Sliwa then led the blocking of the road in front of the designated Staten Island shelter facility.

 

"Today, this is not Republican versus Democrat versus independents," he said, silive.com reported. "We're joined together at the hip in solidarity. It's us and we, not I and me. It's Americans versus those who would destroy the America that we know."

 

After warning protesters to leave the roadway and retreat to sidewalk or face arrest and charges of disorderly conduct, police officers arrested Sliwa and LoBaido along with several other protesters, the news outlet reported.

 

For Sliwa, it was his 79th arrest, the news outlet reported, with the most recent during a protest of a tent shelter in Queens for asylum seekers.

 

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., called for charges to be dropped against those arrested Sunday, the outlet reported.

 

"In the summer of 2020, police were told to lay off BLM protesters rioting in our streets," she said in a statement. "But now citizens peacefully protesting the city's secret deal that led to the eviction of senior citizens at an assisted living facility to house migrants who illegally entered our country at taxpayer expense are being arrested at the direction of our mayor.

 

"This is outrageous and I call on our district attorney to drop any and all charges against Curtis Sliwa, Scott Lobaido, and the other concerned citizens who were wrongfully arrested."

 

The use of a converted assisted living facility is estimated to cost New York more than $12 billion through July 2025, with the city already having spent $1.45 billion, according to the outlet.

 

More than 50,000 migrants remain in the city's care, prompting 198 emergency shelter sites around the five boroughs, silive.com reported.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin directed multiple actions to transform climate and enhance prevention of harmful behaviors at the military service academies, Aug. 17.

 

In a memorandum to Department of Defense senior leaders, Austin noted that while the MSAs are dominant in many domains, they have far more work to do to halt sexual assault and harassment. The actions, which accompany the release of the 2023 Military Service Academy On-Site Installation Evaluation Report, identify the additional measures the DoD will take to comprehensively improve prevention efforts, inform future policy development, and better support existing efforts based on the recommendations of the Independent Review Commission on ''Sexual Assault in the Military.''

 

Austin has made ''preventing sexual assault and harassment a priority since the first days of his tenure ''and he has continued to follow-through on that commitment. On March 10, in response to survey data, Austin directed the under secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness to immediately conduct On-Site Installation Evaluations at the MSAs to assess their climates and make specific recommendations concerning policies, practices, and resources to prevent self-directed harm and prohibited abusive or harmful acts.

 

The department continues a collaborative and research-informed approach to prevention. During the evaluation of command climate at the MSAs, site visit teams collected data through interviews, focus groups and surveys to produce preliminary findings. These findings were discussed with the leaders of the MSAs and their respective military departments during the evaluation process and, in some cases, implementation of recommended actions is already underway.

 

''To transform the climate at the MSAs, Austin has directed department leaders to take transformational action to swiftly adapt the approach to prevent sexual assault, sexual harassment and other harmful behaviors. ''Progress on these issues will take time and require constant vigilance and committed leadership to implement the lasting change needed to ensure the safety of cadets and midshipmen at the academies.

California Bill Proposes Fines, Prison Time For Parents Who Cause 'Substantial Disorder' At School Board Meetings

A bill floating in the California state legislature has received intense scrutiny by proponents of First Amendment rights, who are concerned that parents in the Golden State’s school system could be barred from voicing their opinions about their children’s education.

 

The bill, SB 596, was introduced by Sen. Anthony Portantino, D-Calif., and proposes that “any parent, guardian, or other person whose conduct in a place where a school employee is required to be in the course of the employee’s duties materially disrupts classwork or extracurricular activities or involves substantial disorder is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $500, nor more than $1,000, or by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year…”

 

According to Fox News, this bill would be an expansion of a preexisting law that barred parents from disrupting classroom activities and extend it to “off-campus activities.” In this context, a school board meeting could be considered an off-campus activity.

 

This bill comes after Californians have been pushing back on curriculum in school districts like MVUSD (Murrietta Valley), where parents supported the passage of a new policy that requires the school to notify guardians if their child identifies as transgender.

 

If SB 596 passes, it is conceivable that speaking up at a school board meeting in California could potentially be defined as a misdemeanor. The amended bill itself states:

 

“Any parent, guardian, or other person whose conduct in a place where a school employee is required to be in the course of the school employee’s duties materially disrupts classwork or extracurricular activities or involves substantial disorder, including substantial disorder at any meeting of the governing board of a school district, the governing body of a charter school, a county board of education, or the state board, is guilty of a misdemeanor.”

 

California’s beleaguered school system has already gone through the ringer in the wake of the Covid pandemic with Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., at the helm of the state’s Covid-related policies.

 

Schools in California faced astringent masking policies and Newsom’s administration pushed hard for a statewide K-12 vaccine mandate.

 

Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., one of Newsom’s biggest critics, noted on X, “California schools, by the way, continue to have among the worst student learning outcomes and widest achievement gaps in the country.”

 

Per Fox News, Senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, Sarah Parshall Perry, told the Daily Signal of the bill, “I find it curious that there’s no definition of ‘substantial’ or ‘disruption’ within the proposed text.”

 

According to the text of the bill itself, “course of conduct” would mean a “pattern of conduct composed of two or more acts occurring over a period of time,” and “harassment” would be defined as “willful” behavior that is directed at a specific person that “seriously alarms, torments, or terrorizes the person, and that serves no legitimate purpose.”

 

Further, the bill itself stated that verbal, written, or electronic communication could also be construed to school employees as a “credible threat.”

A vehicle plowed through seven pedestrians at a Midtown Manhattan crosswalk late Sunday, leaving at least one critically injured, according to police and law enforcement sources.

 

The driver of a Honda Accord hit the seven victims around 11:55 p.m. at West 36th Street and 6th Avenue and kept driving to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, sources said.

Independent media sources and some mainstream media sources have confirmed multiple instances of the Democrat controlled government's mismanagement that led to the escalation of the tragedy. The circus included a woke water management bureaucrat who believes water is "godlike" and that it must be distributed according to the rules of "equity; the same official withheld vital firefighting resources for a day while Maui burned. The state government has been thoroughly embarrassed, but instead of responding with humility, they have doubled down and gone on the attack.

The Governor of Hawaii, Josh Green, took a wild swing at independent reporting, telling people not to listen to information from social media and "influencers." It's hard to say what his definition of an "influencer" is, only that he is clearly hostile to anyone reporting news outside of the government narrative. Green's disapproval of media reporting is not limited to alternative journalists, however. It appears that there is now an information blackout being instituted by the state. Corporate journalists are also being denied access to the area of the fire damage path as well as access to any details surrounding the investigation into how the fires may have started.

The lockdown is reminiscent of the state's recent draconian covid response and has undertones similar to the Hurricane Katrina calamity in 2005. It is possible that the Hawaiian government got a taste of ultimate power over the past few years and now they think that 1st Amendment rights no longer apply. The editor of the Maui Times reiterates that the government is shutting out all media inquiries and they are not to blame for the lack of confirmed updates on the situation.

There are a few possible takeaways to be gathered here: First, it's clear that independent reporting is having an effect in exposing state mismanagement, which is why they are attacking "influencers" and putting access on ice. Second, public pressure must be immense, because even the local media is trying to stave off the torches and pitchforks by reiterating that they have no access. When was the last time you saw the mainstream media calling out information controls instead of working in direct lockstep with officials? Third, there is something going on in Maui beyond bureaucratic hubris.

Why block the media from going to the site of the fire? Why try to inoculate the public to any information outside of government sources? Is there something they are trying to hide beyond incompetence? There is evidence to suggest that a major land grab is already in progress, with wealthy interests as well as state interests circling the charred Maui carcass ready to feed. There are also questions as to the true source of the fires.

Frankly, if government policy decisions led to the deaths of hundreds of people then they should pay the price for their blunders. If other shady activities are afoot, then the public has a right to know. The state is not given license to deny media examination of the event. Democrats in Hawaii are trying to turn the tables and make the calamity about who deserves to report the news, when they should be scrambling to save their own skins in the face of intense public scrutiny. These people deserve to be placed under a very large and uncomfortable microscope.

A procession of FEMA agents hauled the bodies of men, women, and children out of an M35 “deuce and a Half” cargo truck and heaped them atop one another as federal supervisors stood around smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee.

 

The Marines had dismounted a distance away and had crept into FEMA’s AO undetected. FEMA, Real Raw News’ source in Gen. Smith’s office would later say, were more interested in cracking insensitive jokes about the dead than posting lookouts to watch for White Hat forces.

Joe Biden in one of his now accustomed angry “get off my grass” moods dared the press to find just one of his policies/objectives that has not worked. Silence followed.

 

Perhaps it was polite to say nothing, given even the media knows almost every enacted Biden policy has failed.

 

Here is a summation of what he should instead apologize for.

 

Biden in late summer 2021 sought a 20th anniversary celebration of 9/11 and the 2001 subsequent invasion of Afghanistan. He wished to be the landmark president that yanked everyone out of Afghanistan after 20 years in country. But the result was the greatest military humiliation of the United States since the flight from Vietnam in 1975.

 

Consider the ripples of Biden’s disaster. U.S. deterrence was crippled worldwide. China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea almost immediately began to bluster or return to their chronic harassment of U.S. and allied ships and planes. We left thousands of allied Afghans to face Taliban retribution, along with some Western contractors.

 

Biden abandoned a $1 billion embassy, and a $300 million remodeled Bagram airbase strategically located not far from China and Russia, and easily defensible. Perhaps $50 billion in U.S. weaponry and supplies were abandoned and now find their way into the international terrorist mart.

 

All our pride flags, our multimillion gender studies programs at Kabul University, and our George Floyd murals did not just come to naught but were replaced by the Taliban’s anti-homosexual campaigns, burkas, and detestation of any trace of American popular culture.

He humiliated the U.S. on the eve of the midterms by callously begging the likes of Iran, Venezuela, Russia, and Saudi Arabia to pump more oil that he had damned as unclean at home and cut back its production. In Bidenomics, instead of producing oil, the president begs autocracies to export it to us at high prices while he drains the nation’s strategic petroleum reserve for short-term political advantage.

 

Biden deliberately alienated Israel by openly interfering in its domestic politics. He pursued the crackpot Iran Deal while his special Iranian envoy was removed for disclosing classified information.

 

No one can explain why Biden ignored the Chinese balloon espionage caper, kept mum about the engineered Covid virus that escaped the Wuhan lab, said not a word about a Chinese bio lab discovered in rural California, and had his envoys either bow before Chinese leaders or take their insults in silence—other than he is either cognitively challenged or leveraged by his decade-long grifting partnership with his son Hunter.

 

Yet another Biden’s legacy will be erasing the southern border and with it, U.S. immigration law. Over seven million aliens simply crossed into the U.S. illegally with Biden’s tacit sanction—without audits, background checks, vaccinations, and COVID testing, much less English fluency, skills, or high-school diplomas.

 

Biden’s only immigration accomplishment was to render the entire illegal sanctuary city movement a cruel joke. Given the flood, mostly rich urban and vacation home dwellers made it very clear that while they fully support millions swarming into poor Latino communities of southern Texas and Arizona, they do not want any illegal aliens fouling their carefully cultivated nests.

 

Biden is mum about the 100,000 fentanyl deaths from cartel-imported and Chinese-supplied drugs across his open border. He seems to like the idea that Mexican President Obrador periodically mouths off, ordering his vast expatriate community to vote Democratic and against Trump.

 

Despite all the pseudo-blue-collar dissimulation about Old Joe Biden from Scranton, he has little empathy for the working classes. Indeed, he derides them as chumps and dregs, urges miners to learn to code as the world covets their coal, and studiously avoids getting anywhere near the toxic mess in East Palestine, Ohio, or so far the moonscape on Maui.

Biden has ended through his weaponized Attorney General Merrick Garland the age-old American commitment to equal justice under the law. The FBI, DOJ, CIA, and IRS are hopelessly politically compromised. Many of their bureaucrats serve as retrieval agents for lost Biden family incriminating laptops, diaries, and guns. In sum, Biden criminalized opposing political views.

 

Biden has unleashed the administrative state for the first time in history to destroy the Republican primary front runner and his likely opponent. His legacy will be the corruption of U.S. jurisprudence and the obliteration of the American reputation for transparent permanent government that should be always above politics, bribery, and corruption.

 

If in the future, an on-the-make conservative prosecutor in West Virginia, Utah, or Mississippi wishes to make a national name, then he has ample precedent to indict a Democrat President for receiving bad legal advice, questioning the integrity of an election, or using social media to express doubt that the new non-Election-Day balloting was on the up-and-up, or supposedly overvaluing his real estate.

 

The Biden family’s decade-long family grifting will likely expose Joe Biden as the first president in U.S. history who fitted precisely the Constitution’s definition of impeachment and removal—given his “high crimes and misdemeanors” appear “bribery”-related. If further evidence shows he altered U.S. foreign policy in accordance with the wishes from his benefactors in Ukraine, China, or Romania, then he committed constitutionally-defined “treason” as well.

 

Defunding the police, and pandemics of exempted looting, shoplifting, smashing, and grabbing, and carjacking merit no administrative attention. Nor does the ongoing systematic destruction of our blue bicoastal cities, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. All that, along with the disasters in East Palestine or Maui are out of sight, out of mind from a day at the beach at Biden’s mysteriously purchased nearly 6,000 square-foot beachfront mansion.

New York city weed shops alone sells 130 thousand pounds of weed annually to the residents.

 

New research finds that binge drinking and marijuana use are higher than ever among middle-aged adults in the United States.

 

The study, which comes from the University of Michigan's Monitoring the Future panel, was funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

 

Researchers found that binge drinking, marijuana use and hallucinogen consumption reached record levels among adults between the ages of 35 and 50.

 

"I'm seeing a tremendous increase in my practice, not only among men, but among women," Dr. Harris Stratyner, a licensed New York State psychologist and addiction specialist, told FOX5 NY. "I think a lot of it has to do with the relaxed laws about marijuana. I also think that a lot of people are micro-dosing hallucinogens and that older people are doing it because it goes back to their generation when they were using things like Ecstasy, LSD and other hallucinogens."

Biden ran on Barack Obama-like 2004 rhetoric (“Well, I say to them tonight, there is not a liberal America and a conservative America — there is the United States of America).”

 

And like Obama, he used that ecumenical sophistry to gain office only to divide further the U.S. No sooner than he was elected, we began hearing from the great unifier eerie screaming harangues about “semi-fascists” and “ultra-MAGA” dangerous zealots, replete with red-and-black Phantom of the Opera backdrops.

 

What followed the unifying rhetoric was often amnesties and exemptions for violent offenders during the 120 days of rioting, looting, killing, and attacks on police officers in summer 2020. In contrast, his administration lied when it alleged that numerous officers had died at the hands of the January 6 rioters. In addition, the Biden administration mandated long-term incarceration of many who committed no illegal act other than acting like buffoons and “illegally parading.”

 

The message was exemptions for torching a federal courthouse, a police precinct, or a historic church or attempting to break into the White House grounds to get a president and his family—but long prison terms for wearing cow horns, a fur vest, and trespassing peacefully like a lost fool in the Capitol.

 

Finally, Biden’s most glaring failure was simply being unpresidential. He snaps at reporters and shouts at importune times. He can no longer read off a big-print teleprompter. Even before a global audience, he cannot kick his lifelong creepy habit of turkey-gobbling on children's necks, blowing into their ears and hair of young girls, and squeezing women far too long and far too hard.

 

His frailty redefined American presidential campaigning as basement seclusion and outsourcing propaganda to the media. And his disabilities only intensified during his presidency. Biden begins his day late and quits early. He has recalibrated the presidency as a 5-hour, 3-day-a-week job.

 

If Trump was the great exaggerator, Biden is our foremost liar. Little in his biography can be fully believed. He lies about everything from his train rides to the death of his son to his relationship with Biden-family foreign collaborators, to vaccinations to the economy. Anytime Biden mentions places visited, miles flown, or rails ridden, he is likely lying.

 

Biden continues with impunity because the media feels that a mentally challenged fabulist is preferable to Donald Trump and so contextualizes or ignores his falsehoods. Never has a U.S. president fallen and stumbled or gotten lost on stage so frequently—or been a single small trip away from incapacity.

 

So, yes, Biden’s initiatives have succeeded only in the sense of becoming successfully enacted—and therefore nearly destroying the country.

The popularity of urban legends is a testament to the will to believe. The desire of people to keep Elvis alive or prove that a Sasquatch could exist furtively in our backyards shows the resilience of fables.

 

Constitutional urban legends often have an even more immediate appeal and tend to arise out of the desperation of divided times. One of the most popular today is that former President Donald Trump can be barred from office, even if he is not convicted in any of the four indictments he faces, under a long-dormant clause of the 14th Amendment.

 

This 14th Amendment theory is something that good liberals will read to their children at night. It goes something like this: Donald Trump can never be president again, because the 14th Amendment bars those who previously took federal oaths from assuming office if they engaged in insurrection or rebellion. With that, and a kiss on the forehead, a progressive’s child can sleep peacefully through the night.

 

But don’t look under the bed. For as scary as it might sound to some, Trump can indeed take office if he is elected…even if he is convicted. Indeed, he can serve as president even in the unlikely scenario that he is sentenced to jail.

 

Democrats have long pushed this theory about the 14th Amendment as a way of disqualifying not only Trump but also dozens of Republican members of Congress. From some, it is the ultimate Hail Mary pass if four indictments, roughly 100 criminal charges and more than a dozen opposing candidates fail to get the job done.

 

I have strongly rejected this interpretation for years, so it is too late to pretend that I view this as a plausible argument. However, some serious and smart people take an equally strong position in support of the theory. Indeed, conservative scholars William Baude and Michael Stokes Paulsen have argued for the interpretation and insist in a recent law review article that “the case is not even close. All who are committed to the Constitution should take note and say so.”

 

But some of us like to believe that we are committed to the Constitution and, for that same reason, we say no.

 

Despite my respect for these academics, I simply fail to see how the text, history or purpose of the 14th Amendment even remotely favors this view. Despite the extensive research of Baude and Paulsen, their analysis ends where it began: Was January 6 an insurrection or rebellion?

 

I have previously addressed the constitutional basis for this claim. It is, in my view, wildly out of sync with the purpose of the amendment, which followed an actual rebellion, the Civil War.

Democraps have previously sought to block the certification of Republican presidents and Democratic lawyers have challenged elections, including on totally unsupported claims of machines flipping the results. If we are to suddenly convert the 14th Amendment into a running barrier to those who seek to challenge election results, then we have to establish a bright line to distinguish such cases.

 

The 14th Amendment bars those who took the oath and then “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same.” It then adds that that disqualification can extend to those who have “given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.” According to these experts, Jan. 6 was an “insurrection” and Trump gave “aid and comfort” to those who engaged in it by spreading election fraud claims and not immediately denouncing the violence.

 

But even the view that it was an “insurrection” is by no means a consensus. Polls have shown that most of the public view Jan. 6 for what it was: a protest that became a riot. One year after the riot, CBS News mostly downplayed and ignored the result of its own poll showing that 76 percent viewed it for what it was, as a “protest gone too far.” The view that it was an actual “insurrection” was far less settled, with almost half rejecting the claim, a division breaking along partisan lines.

 

The theory that this was a rebellion or insurrection has always been highly contested. On Jan. 6, I was contributing to the coverage and denounced Trump’s speech while he was still giving it. But as the protest increased in size, some of us noted that we had never seen such a comparatively light level of security precautions, given the weeks of coverage anticipating the protest. We then watched as thinly deployed police barriers were overrun and a riot ensued. It was appalling, and most of us denounced it as it was unfolding.

 

Trump waited to speak, despite criticism from many of us. We now know that many aides called for him to call upon his supporters to pull back, but he waited for a couple hours.

 

Sulking in the Oval Office does not make Trump a seditionist. Indeed, despite formal articles of the second impeachment and years of experts insisting that Trump was guilty of incitement and insurrection, Special Counsel Jack Smith notably did not charge him with any such crime.

 

The reason is obvious. The evidence and constitutional standards would not have supported a charge of incitement or insurrection.

 

Yet these experts still believe that Trump can be barred from office without any such charge even being brought, let alone a conviction.

 

Putting aside the lack of evidence, there is a lack of logic to these claims. A relatively small number of individuals have been charged with seditious conspiracy, a widely misrepresented charge that can amount to as little as preventing the execution of any law.

 

If Trump supported a rebellion or insurrection, what was the plan? Not only did Smith not charge him with any such crime, but there was little evidence that even the most radical defendants charged were planning to overthrow the nation’s government or were part of a broader conspiracy. There were no troops standing by, no plan for a post-democratic takeover by Trump or his alleged minions. At worst, according to witnesses against Trump, there was a despondent and defiant president who may have gotten satisfaction from the chaos in Congress.

 

That leaves us with the argument that any effort to stop a constitutional process is akin to an insurrection or rebellion under the 14th Amendment. If that were the standard, any protests — including the anti-Trump protests and the certification challenges to electoral votes in 2016 — could also be cited as disqualifying. If that were the case, figures such as Rep. Jamie Raskin (D., Md) could be summarily purged from office for having sought to overturn an election.

We would be left on a slippery slope, as partisan judges and members would seek to block opposing candidates from ballots, all supposedly in the name of protecting democracy.

 

There is a simpler and more obvious explanation for what occurred on Jan. 6, 2021: A political protest became a political riot, and a constitutional theory became a constitutional legend.

In an episode that promises to be remembered, Candace Owens hosted a heated debate between conservative influencer DC Draino and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy on her well-known podcast, Candace Owens Podcast.

 

The podcast provided a platform for the two to face off directly.

 

DC Draino grilled Ramaswamy by calling out his alleged flip-flopping on critical topics, including:

 

Initially believing the 2020 election wasn’t stolen through ballot fraud

Supporting former Vice President Mike Pence on January 6th

Expressing interest in re-entering the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)

Advocating for “no cap” on educated immigrants

Encouraging everyone to get vaccinated

The questioning was fierce and according to DC Draino, led to some remarkable shifts in Ramaswamy’s viewpoints.

 

“And just like magic, Vivek changed many of his positions and now claims: -there was 2020 ballot fraud -only wants bilateral trade deals -regrets getting the vax,” Draino wrote on Twitter.

 

“But he stuck to his guns on “no cap” immigration for high-skilled immigrants Nobody has been asking Vivek the tough questions even though he’s a Big Pharma exec that appeared out of nowhere, so I did,” Draino added.

 

2020 Election Fraud

DC Draino expressed his concerns about Ramaswamy’s past statements, including quotes from his book that seemed to criticize President Trump regarding the January 6 incident and called him a loser.

 

Draino directly questioned Ramaswamy’s stance on the 2020 election’s fairness, and whether the election was rigged.

 

Draino said, “I started to dig a little deeper on Twitter, and I came across some passages from your book. And I don’t know which book it is. It’s one of the two. But it talks about January 6, and it says, “It was a dark day for democracy. The loser of the last election refused to concede the race, claimed the election was stolen, raised hundreds of millions of dollars from loyal supporters, and is considering running for executive office again. I’m referring, of course, to Donald Trump.””

 

The quoted passage is from Ramaswamy’s book Nation of Victims, published in 2022, in which he lambastes Trump for refusing to concede the election’s outcome, dubbing him a “loser” and and detailed Trump’s futile efforts to overturn the results.

 

ABC News reported:

 

However in his 2022 book, “Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence,” Ramaswamy sharply criticized the former president for not conceding the election.

 

“It was a dark day for democracy. The loser of the last election refused to concede the race, claimed the election was stolen, raised hundreds of millions of dollars from loyal supporters, and is considering running for executive office again.” Ramaswamy wrote. “I’m referring, of course, to Donald Trump.”

 

He wrote that Trump “filed scores of lawsuits over various claims of fraud … but they came nowhere close to changing the outcome in a single state, let alone the several swing states whose results he needed to overturn.”

 

“In many cases, judges the president himself had nominated ruled against him, a sign of health in our nation’s institutions,” Ramaswamy wrote. “Accepting the outcomes of elections and having a peaceful transition of power is part of what it means to be a constitutional republic: Sometimes your team loses, but if you accept the result and prepare for the next election, eventually the scales will tip your way again.”

 

“We fought, we lost, and I accepted the result,” he wrote.

 

Draino continued, “Do you think that the 2020 election was fair? Do you think that Joe Biden got the most votes in American history? Or do you think 2020 was rigged?”

 

Ramaswamy provided a comprehensive response. He explained the nature of the quoted passage from his book, which he claimed had been taken out of context. According to Ramaswamy, he was actually referring to Stacey Abrams.

 

“Those exact words I’m referring to, of course, Stacey Abrams, that was literally the opening paragraph of that chapter. And it turned out that those words were literally borrowed from a description of somebody else criticizing Donald Trump that I then cut and pasted,” Ramaswamy said.

 

Regarding the 2020 election, Ramaswamy believed that it was rigged by Big Tech.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz received a frosty welcome during a campaign speech in Munich’s iconic Marienplatz square on Friday evening. Critics of the country’s military aid to Ukraine booed the official, who then questioned the true intentions of his detractors and accused them of playing right into Russia’s hands.

 

Scholz was confronted by a crowd that was calling the chancellor a “warmonger,” “loser,” and “liar,” among other things. The chancellor parried, insisting that the “right-wing populists” stand for a “gloomy future.”

 

Scholz went on to argue that those demanding an end to German weapon deliveries to Ukraine were not peace doves, but rather “fallen angels, that come from hell, because at the end of the day they make the case for a warmonger,” – an apparent reference to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

The official went on to defend his decision to provide Kiev with weapons to fend off “imperialist aggression,” assuring the public that such steps were taken only after careful consideration.

 

Similar scenes occurred during events attended by Scholz in Frankfurt and Neuruppin last week, with critics also taking aim at his climate policies.

 

Meanwhile, the results of a new opinion poll released by Bild on Saturday indicated that some 64% of respondents would want to see the incumbent “traffic light” coalition government made up of Scholz’s Social Democrats, the Free Democrats, and the Greens replaced. Only 22% are content with the way the country is being governed at present, the media outlet revealed, with 70% of the Germans polled dissatisfied with Scholz personally.

49 accused clergy members named; many have ties to Northeast Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Advocates against child sex abuse have filed a letter to the Ohio attorney general, asking the state to hold accused predators in the Catholic church accountable.

 

"We are asking Attorney General Yost to simply step up and get on the train of accountability and justice for victims," said Claudia Vercellotti with the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP).

 

Ohioans for Child Protection SNAP have made a formal request to Attorney General Dave Yost.

They are asking him to conduct a statewide investigation of the history and scope of child sexual abuse and its covering up by the state's Catholic dioceses.

 

Vercellotti brought forward reports from other states, where their attorneys general listed substantiated allegations against individuals in the Catholic church. Many had worked in Ohio.

 

"Information developed on 49 credibly-accused clerics from other attorneys general's reports with ties to Ohio," she said. "It makes you wonder what would Attorney General Yost uncover if he merely investigated?"

“Failing to investigate systemic failures within Ohio dioceses and parochial schools allows abuse enablers and sexual perpetrators to remain in positions of authority over thousands of vulnerable Ohio children,” they wrote in a letter delivered to Yost on Wednesday.

 

“Without a robust secular investigation, we fear that the continued cycle of abuse and cover-up will continue unabated.”

Advocates for survivors of clergy sexual abuse said it's time for Ohio's top law enforcement official to investigate the state's six Catholic dioceses.

 

Members of Ohio chapters of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, Ohioans for Child Protection and the Greater Cincinnati Voice of the Faithful urged Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost in an Aug. 16 letter to follow the examples of abuse investigations that have occurred in other states in recent years.

 

Daniel Frondorf of SNAP's Cincinnati chapter told NCR that reports released after investigations in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Maryland included references to 49 priests who had lived, worked or had other ties to Ohio and had been accused of sexually abusing children.

 

"I think there's enough compelling evidence in the news media the last 15, 20 years that a larger investigation is warranted than just these spotty investigations of individual claims of abuse," Frondorf said.

There's a lot of noise right now about Trump being a write in candidate since some of the governors are making moves to block Trump on the ballot.

 

In Georgia - there are some rules about it.

You can write in anyone you want but if you want it to count - different ballgame.

 

People who want to be qualified write-in candidates in Georgia must follow the rules set out in Georgia law O.C.G.A. § 21-2-133. They must file notice between Jan. 1 and the Tuesday after the first Monday in September, publish their intention to run in at least one newspaper, and show proof of identity to an appropriate government official.

There are limitations on who can be considered a write-in candidate in Georgia. Anyone who loses in a primary contest, for example, cannot run as a write-in candidate in the general election, Wright said.

Georgia’s Secretary of State publishes an official list of write-in candidates who have qualified for all the races on the ballot.

Hawaii Announces Plans for Ukraine Independence Day to Raise Money for Ukrainians – While They’re Still Digging Up Charred Bodies of Children in Maui

 

Hawaii is holding a “Ukraine Independence Day Event” on Aug 26th at Magic island to raise money and awareness for the War in Ukraine.

 

They are still digging up the charred remains of victims in Lahaina. There are over 1,000 people missing.

 

Maybe they should put a pause on the Ukrainian fundraiser? At least until they find all the bodies of the missing children.

The Diocese of Honolulu has two outlets taking donations for relief efforts via: diocese’s Hawaii Catholic Community Foundation, and the Catholic Charities Hawaii site, catholiccharitieshawaii DOT org /maui-relief.

In an Aug. 11 letter addressed to “our Catholic Faithful in Hawaii and Beyond,” Honolulu Bishop Larry Silva wrote, “As a community of faith, we are called to come together and provide unwavering support to those who are suffering.

It is in times like these that our collective love, faith, and compassion can make a tremendous difference.”

He said supporting the church’s relief efforts for Maui “is an opportunity for us to show our solidarity as a Catholic faith community and lend a helping hand to those who have lost so much.”

San Antonio gets $24.5M in FEMA funding to continue aiding migrants through 2025 August 18, 2023

Council members on Thursday approved accepting the funds, but did not discuss the agenda item.

Of the funding, the City of San Antonio will accept $13,051,737; Catholic Charities will get $5,688,925; and the United Way of San Antonio, which administers the FEMA emergency and shelter funding to local nonprofits, gets $5,795,360.

In May, San Antonio received a total of $38 million from FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program to assist San Antonio’s humanitarian response to Title 42 ending.

At the time, Catholic Charities got $31,955,232, the City of San Antonio got $4,692,492, and the United Way of San Antonio got $1,584,931.

"Big Mess": Panama Canal Hit By 200 Ship Bottleneck

 

A parking lot of vessels has formed on either side of the Panama Canal as a worsening drought in the Central American country has reduced the number of ships able to sail through one of the world's most important trading routes.

 

The Wall Street Journal counts more than 200 vessels "currently waiting to transit, a figure that has been climbing since the canal capped daily transits to 32 last month from an average 36 under normal conditions."

 

Pacific and Atlantic entrances of the critical waterway are dotted with vessels. WSJ said some ships are waiting "more than 20 days" for access to the canal, forcing some carriers to reroute because of the bottleneck.

 

"The delays are changing by the day. Once you make a decision to go there is no point to return or deviate, so you can get stuck," said Tim Hansen, chief commercial officer at Dorian LPG, which operates more than 20 large LNG carriers.

 

Since our May 22 report Panama Canal Hit By Shipping Restrictions As Water Crisis Set To Worsen, the draft restriction on the canal appears to have remained at 44 feet. For some context, a 50-foot draft is considered average for the canal during normal weather conditions, though a recent drought has left Lake Gatun, the largest of two lakes that feed the canal, with extremely low water levels.

Dozens of people milled in front of the Centro de Bienvenida early Monday afternoon, standing under the building’s awnings or sitting under small canopy tents to escape the sun. Temperatures were already in the mid-80s and were expected to climb a few degrees higher. With 700 people already inside, the most fire code allows,Catholic Charities of San Antoniocouldn’t let anyone else in until others left to catch a bus or a flight to their next — and often final — destination in their arduous journey to the United States.The day was a preview for what’s to come when Title 42 is expected to end Thursday, increasing the number of migrants crossing the Texas-Mexico border and passing through San Antonio once released from U.S. Border Patrol custody.

“We don’t know what to expect, but we’re going to do our best,” said J. Antonio Fernandez,Catholic Charities of San Antonio president and CEO.

 

Since the organization took over operations of the Migrant Resource Center from the city in September — which it renamed the MRC Centro de Bienvenida — it’s helped upwards of 116,000 migrants, all of whom have legal permission to be in the country. That often means purchasing airfare or bus tickets, and providing clean clothes, shoes, a hot shower, warm meals and unlimited coffee, and a place to spend a night or two. Counselors and legal services are also available. About 3,900 people came through the center’s doors in the first week of May. April alone saw more than 12,000 migrants. Since March 2020, the U.S. government has used a public health rule called Title 42 to immediately expel hundreds of thousands of migrants from select countries back to Mexico or their home countries without letting them apply for asylum.The rule will no longer be in force at 10:59 p.m. CST Thursday when the national COVID public health emergency ends.

 

Federal officials estimate tens of thousands of people could cross the border in the weeks ahead. “The border will be busy for a while in the short-term,” U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, said Friday at a news conference held at the center on the city’s near North Side. He declined to share figures given to him by Border Patrol officials. With only so much space inside the 71,000-square foot facility, which once was a CPS Energy customer service center, Fernandez is in talks with four area hotels to lease rooms. Although he prefers to purchase airline tickets for people traveling to far-away cities like Chicago, New York or Miami, he’s considering leasing charter buses to more quickly transport large groups out of San Antonio at once, so long as he can ensure that migrants would have access to food and water and be allowed to get off and stretch their legs at regularly scheduled spots.

The Governor’s working with the Legislatures of CA, FL, GA, AZ, WI, PA, MI, NV, NH, NE, NM at a minimum will likely be moving to block Trump from appearing on the ballot in the Primary come January. They see that this is the only way they can keep Trump from winning as the indictments are only increasing his support amongst the people. I called this a while ago, now watch it play out. I warned that if you allowed Robin Vos to win in the Wisconsin primary against Adam Steen, there would be a very narrow path to a nomination as the DOJ, Legislatures would stack the deck against Trump in every way they could. DeSantis has already shown that he could care less about changing laws in his favor for personal gain as he did with changing the Right to Run law in Florida. He will do the same to block his opponents from appearing on the ballot to improve his chances to steal the election from Trump. This is despicable.

This source corroborated the directives, confirming that similar measures were being planned for Border Patrol personnel.

Top Prosecutor On Hunter Biden Case Previously Worked With Beau Biden

 

Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, special counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation, previously worked with Hunter’s late brother, Beau Biden, on a fraud case.

 

Weiss was serving as acting Delaware U.S. attorney in 2010 when he worked with then-Democratic Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden on a fraud case against the state’s largest health care provider, The Washington Post first reported Aug. 20. Weiss and Biden successfully secured a $3.3 million settlement against the Christiana Care Health System for violating federal and state False Claims Acts by misusing federal and state healthcare funds.

 

“We will continue aggressively to pursue all types of fraud in order to protect the public,” Weiss said in a statement with Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer in May 2015 at age 46.

 

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Weiss special counsel in the Hunter Biden case Aug. 11, soon after the younger Biden’s guilty plea and diversion agreement fell apart in court. IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler have accused DOJ prosecutors of slow-walking and obstructing the Biden investigation under Weiss’ leadership. The whistleblower testimony caused Republicans, led by House Oversight Chairman James Comer, to come out against Weiss’ appointment as special counsel.

 

Weiss reportedly did not plan on having Hunter Biden plead guilty to two tax misdemeanors until the IRS whistleblowers came forward with allegations of special treatment towards the president’s son.

 

Hunter Biden was expected to plead guilty to two tax misdemeanors and sign a diversion agreement for his felony gun charge until a dispute with the Department of Justice (DOJ) at a late July court appearance resulted in Biden pleading not guilty to the charges.

 

DOJ prosecutor Leo Wise and Biden’s defense counsel, Christopher J. Clark, disagreed about the scope of an immunity provision tucked away in Biden’s diversion agreement following scrutiny from Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, causing Biden’s plea deal to collapse. The DOJ said in a Tuesday court filing the diversion agreement was never put into place, and blamed Hunter Biden’s legal team for the negotiations falling apart.

China Claims CIA Infiltrated ‘Critical Unit’ of a Communist Government Agency

 

The Chinese Ministry of State Security claimed in a social media post on Monday that it had identified an “official of a national ministry” who had provided the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) with intelligence from a “critical unit” of the ministry in question.

 

The Ministry of State Security identified the CIA spy as a 39-year-old named “Hao” and claimed that the case “is under investigation” without specifying if Hao was in police custody, what ministry Hao allegedly helped the CIA infiltrate, or whether or not the Chinese Communist Party believed Hao was the only Chinese national involved in the alleged espionage. The Chinese state newspaper Global Times appeared to identify Hao as a man.

 

“Following the discovery of Hao’s espionage activities by one of China’s national security agencies, a lawful inquiry has been initiated into his actions in accordance with law, and the case is under investigation,” the Global Times reported.

 

“Hao” is the second person the Chinese Ministry of State Security has publicly identified this month as a Chinese national “flipped” by the CIA to be used as an American asset. On August 11, the ministry claimed to identify another person known as “Zeng” who similarly faced presumably criminal accusations of cooperating with the CIA.

 

The accusations follow the launch of a campaign by the Chinese Communist Party to pressure the general public to engage in “counter-espionage” activities. The Ministry of State Security debuted a page of the regime-controlled social media site WeChat in early August meant to make the law enforcement and anti-espionage agency a constant presence in the lives of ordinary Chinese people. The WeChat page also allows citizens to levy accusations against others they believe may be foreign spies.

 

The Chinese government claimed that the CIA successfully turned Hao into a spy when he was a student in Japan. An alleged CIA agent named “Ted” fostered a friendship with Hao in which “Ted” paid Hao to help him write papers, the government said. Ultimately, “Ted” allegedly introduced Hao to another CIA agent with whom Hao signed an agreement to enter a “critical unit of the Chinese national ministry” and regularly provide intelligence. Hao allegedly received “assessment and training from the U.S.”

 

As told by the Global Times, the alleged spy identified as “Zeng” became a CIA asset in a similar manner. Zeng allegedly worked for a “Chinese military industrial group” and had access to confidential information that he or she was providing to a CIA agent named “Seth,” the state propaganda outlet reported on August 11. Unlike Hao, whom the Ministry of State Security accused of sharing intelligence for money, the Communist Party accused “Zeng” of adopting “Western values” and renouncing communism.

 

“Zeng gradually became psychologically dependent on Seth, and Seth took advantage of this to instill Western values into Zeng. Under Seth’s solicitation, Zeng’s political stance was shaken,” the Global Times claimed. The newspaper also alleged that, given his newfound stand as a dissident, Seth offered Zeng help getting his entire family out of China, which regularly commits human rights atrocities against suspected anti-communist dissidents and their families.

 

Other outlets later identified the suspect in that case as 52-year-old Zeng Moumou, who worked for several defense contractors and allegedly had contact with officials in NATO. Zeng was also identified as male; it is unclear at press time whether Zeng is in police custody or facing legal punishment of any kind.

Australian ex-priest has prison sentence extended to 40 years for molesting 72nd child victim August 15, 2023 - 4:46 AM

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — An Australian ex-priest convicted of sexually abusing children had another 12 months added to his 39-year prison sentence on Tuesday for molesting a 72nd victim.

 

Gerald Ridsdale, 89, has been in prison since 1994 for a series of convictions for abusing children between 1961 and 1988 while he worked as a Roman Catholic priest in churches and schools across his home state of Victoria.

After Hilary, three tropical storms form in the Atlantic

 

As Tropical Storm Hilary continues to slam Southern California, three tropical storms are churning in the Atlantic Ocean as the world prepares for an above-average hurricane season.

 

Three tropical storms — Franklin, Emily and Gert — have developed in the Atlantic Ocean in less than 24 hours as the Southwest continues to be slammed by Hilary, according to the National Hurricane Center. Franklin is expected turn northward Tuesday to bring heavy rainfall to Puerto Rico and Hispaniola through the middle of the week and could also bring tropical storm conditions to the Dominion Republic and Haiti starting Tuesday, where tropical storm warnings have already been issued.

 

Emily formed about 1,000 miles from the Cabo Verde islands and is expected to weaken in the coming days. National Hurricane Center forecasters said that the storm already reached its peak intensity and it no longer meets the criteria for a tropical cyclone.

 

“Emily has been devoid of deep convection for nearly 15 hours and no longer meets the definition of a tropical cyclone,” forecasters said. “Although sea surface temperatures are sufficiently warm to support occasional bursts of convection, strong wind shear and a very dry environment should prevent it from reorganizing as a tropical cyclone for at least the next couple days.”

 

Gert is also expected to be short lived as it is quickly unraveling, according to forecasters. The National Hurricane Center estimated that the storm’s sustained winds were about 40 mph, just above the threshold for when a storm earns a name.

 

After tropical disturbances reach sustained winds of 39 mph, they receive a name. When winds reach more than 74 mph, they become a hurricane.

 

Besides the three tropical storms churning in the Atlantic, forecasters are continuing to watch a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico. Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine could bring heavy rainfall to South Texas along with flash flooding and mudslides starting Tuesday, forecasters warned Monday.

 

“Heavy rainfall from Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine is expected across South Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday. The heavy rainfall may produce areas of flash and urban flooding,” the forecasters warned.

 

Hilary was the first tropical storm to hit Southern California in 84 years according to forecasters, bringing dangerous flooding, mudslides and high winds to the region that is typically plagued by drought. This comes as experts have warned of an “above-normal” hurricane season this year due to higher sea temperatures.
