NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Whether enhanced permit gun owners can carry into a school is passing through the Tennessee House to the dismay of parents and grandparents with students in public schools.

 

The HB7064 — designed by Rep. Chris Todd, R-Madison County — will be heard in the House Education Administration Committee at 4 p.m. He said administrators were "begging him" for the ability to carry. He said placing guns in schools would provide protection that is "real world protection."

In 1968, the Atlanta Board of Aldermen declared the five-block area of the original downtown a historic site. Many significant architectural features survived from original storefronts, including ornate marble, granite archways, cast-iron pilasters, decorative brickwork, and hand-carved wood posts and panels. One-year later, Underground Atlanta opened as a retail and entertainment center. In 1980, The construction of the MARTA rapid transit line and other factors led to the closing of the original Underground Atlanta.

 

Yet, upon its closing, civic and business leaders succeeded in having Underground Atlanta placed on the National Register of Historic Places and leaders vowed to re-open the area. Underground Atlanta was reopened in 1989, at a cost of $142 million, through a joint venture between the City of Atlanta and private industry. It was redesigned to be one of the major projects aimed at preserving and revitalizing the center of Atlanta as the focal point of community life. Today, Underground offers a complete family experience, with retail shops, specialty and gift shops, fast food in the Old Alabama Eatery, unique features and entertainment, special events, and fine restaurants.

Wow, what a name for a pastry. Stollen. Katchung. Sounds uber German. And it’s actually not only the name for a cake, it’s also what mining tunnels are called. How do these two things connect? Well, the origin of Stollen is actually a word we all know really well: stellen (to put). A Stollen originally had the idea of “thing that stands/makes stand” and before it was used for the mining tunnel itself, Stollen was the word for the rough, wooden posts and lumps that were used in mining.

More defendants in Georgia 's investigation into Donald Trump 's plot to overturn the election have handed themselves over to the Fulton County jail. Trump's attorney Sidney Powell was the latest to surrender Wednesday afternoon. Her bond was set at $100,000. Powell is charged with seven counts including several counts of conspiracy to commit election fraud.

Peter Schweizer: Biden Criminality a ‘Clear-Cut Case’

The mainstream media reporters are still missing the real story—bribery likely took place during Joe and Hunter Biden’s involvement with Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

 

Investigative journalist Peter Schweizer is joined by Seamus Bruner on the latest Drill Down podcast, and together they lay out the case, based on their research, that bribery clearly took place: The Biden family was paid in exchange for explicit favors done by then Vice President Joe Biden for a foreign entity.

 

“This is a clear violation of the law. This is criminal conduct that’s occurring. This is a direct bribe. It’s a quid pro quo,” Schweizer says. “The bottom line is, it doesn’t matter if you ever demonstrate that a single penny went to Joe Biden, because bribery can mean paying off your family. If a politician’s family gets paid and the politician performs a service for that, it’s a bribe in the same way. So, to me, this is now a clear-cut case.”

 

That assertion comes after Seamus Bruner found yet more evidence on Hunter Biden’s laptop. Bruner, Director of Research at the Government Accountability Institute, has been on the Hunter Biden story since 2017 and “may have spent more time on the Hunter Biden laptop computer than Hunter Biden has,” Schweizer quips.

 

Bruner just unearthed evidence that further establishes the direct connection between Hunter Biden’s being named to the board of directors of Burisma and his father the Vice President threatening to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid to the Ukrainian government unless it fired the prosecutor who was then investigating Burisma for corruption.

 

That prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, was indeed fired right before Biden handed over the aid money to Ukraine, as Biden himself bragged about doing at a 2018 foreign policy conference.

 

This allegation, which amounts to a direct quid pro quo between Joe Biden and the executives of Burisma, has been made before. But the emails found by Bruner establish a direct timeline connection between Burisma pressuring Hunter Biden to earn his $1 million dollar salary to get his father to force the Ukrainian government to call off the investigation of the company’s founder, Mykola Zlochevsky.

 

In 2014, a revolution in Ukraine deposed its Moscow-serving president Yanukovich. That same year, then President Barack Obama made Joe Biden his “point man” on U.S.-Ukraine policy. At about that time, Biden’s son Hunter gets his deal with Burisma. The company’s founder, Zlochevsky, has been under international investigation and his assets have even been frozen in London.

 

But an email uncovered by Bruner on Hunter Biden’s laptop now makes it clear that by November 2015, Burisma executives were not happy with Hunter’s work. Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi wrote to Hunter Biden, “…the suggested scope of work is largely lacking concrete tangible results that we set out to achieve in the first place.”

 

Burisma wanted one key “deliverable,” according to the email. They wanted the pressure to be taken off their company and their founder’s frozen assets released.

 

Vadim Pozharskyi closed the email by stating in no uncertain terms that the “ultimate purpose” was to “close down any cases pursuits against Zlochevsky in Ukraine.”

 

The message got through., The next month — December 2015 — Hunter Biden, along with business associate and fellow Burisma board member Devon Archer, met with Burisma in Kyiv. As Archer testified this month, Hunter, Zlochevsky, and Pozharskyi “stepped away for a bit” and “called Washington,” when they made their case to Joe Biden that Shokin needed to be fired.

 

Three months later, Vice President Joe Biden went to Kyiv and demanded the government agree to fire Shokin as a precondition of receiving $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees. Shokin was fired in April 2016 and the case was closed by the prosecutor who replaced him, Yuriy Lutsenko. In 2018, Joe Biden famously boasted on camera about having done so.

 

“He did what his son’s benefactors told him to do,” said Schweizer. “We even have independent confirmation of this, from a State Department official named George Kent who dealt with Ukraine. Kent told the Senate Oversight committee that in Dec 2015, he was advised by Biden’s staff to avoid mentioning Zlochevsky, and instead recommended to say, “I’m not going to get into naming names or accusing individuals.”

 

Revelations over the weekend about the collapse of Hunter Biden’s plea deal, in Politico and the New York Times, are not the main story here. The main story remains that Joe Biden and his staff knew of Hunter’s relationship with Burisma and offered official help to them.

ANew Mexico judge has rejected a bid from actor Alec Baldwin's legal team to dismiss a lawsuit from crewmembers working on "Rust" who sued the actor and the film's producers, alleging that the cast and crew had been endangered due to cost-cutting measures.

 

The film has faced considerable production delays and legal hurdles since the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, whom Baldwin accidentally shot while on set.

 

Chief District Judge Bryan Biedscheid issued the ruling and refused to delay proceedings as well, despite claims from Baldwin's team that he would have to invoke the 5th Amendment due to fears anything he says in the civil case could be used against him in a possible criminal case, according to the Associated Press.

 

"So what’s going to happen is Mr. Baldwin is going to assert his 5th Amendment rights and the plaintiffs are not going to get any discovery in the meantime," Baldwin's attorney told the judge. Prosecutors have not indicated when they will announce charging decisions against the actor.

 

Work resumed on the film in late 2022 after Baldwin managed to settle a suit from Hutchins' widower, Matthew, who has since signed on as an executive producer.

Anons, I think the enrollment in my city school district has fallen by about 14%. Appeal by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the

Russian Federation to parliaments of foreign States and international

parliamentary organizations regarding the decision of the United

States of America to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions

The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation

expresses its extreme concern and condemns the provocative decision of the

Administration of the President of the United States of America to supply Ukraine

with cluster munitions.

The hypocrisy of United States Administration is clear. Whereas a year and a

half ago the White House Press Secretary called the use of cluster munitions a war

crime, Washington has now easily abandoned its previous position, changing it to an

opposite one to suit its own opportunistic interests.

We believe it necessary to recall that cluster munitions have previously been

used by the United States of America in many of the armed conflicts that it has

unleashed, from Viet Nam and Yugoslavia to Afghanistan. At the same time, the

experience of using cluster munitions in different regions of the world shows that

their unexploded elements, many years after the end of hostilities, can detonate, kill

and maim civilians, including women, children and older persons. Most of the

casualties of cluster munitions are people injured in the course of daily activities, and

one third of all reported casualties are children.

Washington cannot fail to realize that promises by the Kiev authorities to

“carefully and responsibly” use the weapons supplied, which are indiscriminate in

nature, are worth nothing. Civilians will inevitably come under attack, as they do

every time the West hands Kiev more and more lethal weapons.

By supplying cluster munitions, Washington has become complicit in the mining

of vast territories and fully responsible for the deaths and injuries of innocent

civilians. The International Committee of the Red Cross has repeatedly stated the

grave humanitarian danger of cluster munitions, which “kill and maim

indiscriminately and cause widespread human suffering.” The United Nations and

some foreign countries have already condemned the decision of the United States of

America.

Russian Federation senators note that the transfer of cluster munitions to

Ukraine is evidence of impotence amid the failure of Ukraine’s much-publicized

“counter-offensive”. In the event that the Kiev regime uses cluster munitions, the

Russian Federation reserves the right of a tough equivalent response. The latest

“miracle weapon” that Washington and Kiev are betting on will have no impact on

the course of the special military operation being conducted by the Russian

Federation. Its goals and objectives will be fully accomplished.

The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation

appeals to parliaments of foreign States and international parliamentary organizations

to condemn the decision of the United States of America to supply Ukraine with

cluster munitions, which is yet another step towards a dangerous escalation of the

conflict and will have serious humanitarian consequences.

Explanation of position on resolution A/77/L.89, entitled

“Promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue and tolerance

in countering hate speech”

We have been clear in our position: the United Kingdom fully rejects intolerance

and discrimination. We denounce hatred on the basis of religion or belief, and we

condemn the recent incidents of the burning of the Holy Qur’an. Defending freedom

of religion or belief for all is a priority for the United Kingdom, and we shall continue

to stand up for the rights of all individuals and promote mutual respect.

As we stated during the urgent debate at the Human Rights Council in Geneva

just weeks ago, when combating religious intolerance, there is a balance to strike, and

across different societies, this balance is struck in different ways. Determining at what

point freedom of expression becomes unacceptable, and when unacceptable speech

or action should be prohibited, is a complex issue.

However, international human rights law provides us with narrowly defined

parameters in which freedom of expression can be limited. We do not accept that, by

definition, attacks on religion, including on religious texts or symbols, constitute

advocacy for hatred. Furthermore, the framework in place already defines what kind

of speech must be prohibited and what must not be restricted.

While we completely reject acts seeking to incite discrimination, hostility or

violence, we need to recognize that the primary function of the international human

rights framework is to protect individuals from the State. There are too many

examples in the world where believers – religious or not – have been oppressed by

those who are meant to guarantee their rights.

The United Kingdom has reluctantly joined consensus on this resolution. While

we thank our Moroccan colleagues for their engagement on this resolution, we are

disappointed that our efforts to find more balanced language were not fully taken on

board. We would have preferred to redouble our collective efforts to find a mutually

more agreeable position.

We remain concerned with several elements of the text, particularly language

which could suggest limitations on freedom of expression beyond what is well

established in international human rights law. We do not think it is necessary to agree

a new definition of hate speech which may undermine the existing finely balanced

position in international human rights law, which already provides a clear framework.

We therefore oppose any future attempts to agree new definitions of hate speech at

the United Nations level, including at the proposed conference in 2025. The United

Kingdom dissociates itself from the thirteenth preambular paragraph and operative

paragraph 2 of the resolution.

Our hope is that going forward we can find a way to ensure we work together

to protect and defend both freedom of religion or belief, and freedom of expression.

Russian authorities have confirmed that a private jet with Wagner Group founder Evgeny Prigozhin listed as a passenger crashed between Moscow and St. Petersburg on Wednesday, killing all on board.

What details have been confirmed?

The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that the jet plunged to the ground in Tver Region, and that all three crew and seven passengers on board were killed. The ministry said that the jet, an Embraer 135BJ Legacy 600, was traveling from Moscow to St. Petersburg at the time of the incident.

Rosaviatsiya, the Russian federal air transport agency, said that Prighozhin was on board, along with several high-ranking Wagner commanders.

Was the crash caught on camera?

Several short clips of the crash have circulated on social media. Videos published by the Mash and Baza Telegram channels appear to show the jet plummeting toward the ground in a seemingly uncontrolled spin, leaving behind a trail of black smoke. It is unclear from the clips which part of the aircraft had caught fire.

Other clips purportedly shot at the crash site show flaming wreckage strewn across a grassy clearing.

Is Prigozhin definitely dead?

Although Rosaviatsiya said that Prigozhin’s name was on board, it did not explicitly pronounce the Wagner chief dead. As of late Wednesday evening, Russian officials said that they had recovered eight bodies, though none had been named by that time. All were described as badly burned.

Some Russian outlets identified the plane’s tail number as RA-02795, which is believed to belong to Prigozhin. According to flight-tracking site FlightRadar24, a second plane linked to Prigozhin with the tail number RA-02878 departed Moscow shortly after the first, but returned to land after news of the crash broke. None of these reports have been officially confirmed.

Who else was on board?

In addition to Prigozhin, Rosaviatsiya said Dmitry Utkin – a former Russian special forces operator and alleged co-founder of the PMC – was also traveling on the jet, as was Valery Chekalov, whom the US considers to be the deputy head of Wagner. The remaining passengers listed were Sergey Propustin, Evgeny Makaryan, Alexander Totmin, and Nikolay Matuseev, identified by Russian news outlets as Wagner

A successful businessman in the catering industry and a confidant of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prigozhin founded the Wagner Group, a private military company (PMC), in 2014. Although the Wagner Group was founded in 2014 and took part in hostilities in the formerly Ukrainian Donbass region, Prigozhin refused to confirm his role in the company until last year.

Wagner troops have operated in multiple African countries and in Syria, where they reportedly clashed with US forces in 2018.

With his troops fighting in the months-long battle for the city of Artyomovsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukraine), Prigozhin made regular statements to the media and publicly feuded with the Russian Defense Ministry earlier this year, accusing top officials of mismanaging the conflict and denying him adequate ammunition.

How did Wagner’s mutiny play out?

Prigozhin claimed in June that Russian forces shelled a Wagner field camp, where the PMC’s troops had been resting and rearming following the capture of Artyomovsk the previous month. The Wagner founder then announced that he would lead his forces in a march on Moscow to remove allegedly corrupt military officials.

Putin described the mutiny as a “stab in the back” and promised “decisive actions” to restore order. However, less than a day after it began, the rebellion was defused thanks to mediation by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Prigozhin agreed that the men who took part in the mutiny would be redeployed to Belarus, while those who refused would be incorporated into units under the control of the Russian Defense Ministry. (Putin has never named Prighoshyn personally of starting the coup, the Russian media names him)

After two months of silence, Prigozhin released a video – apparently filmed in Africa – on Monday. In the clip, he said that the Wagner Group had reopened recruitment, and was conducting “reconnaissance and search activities” against “ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and other bandits” across the continent.
