Only 1 out of 16 Black student Applicants accepted by Harvard DESERVE to be there based on Merit alone

 

When the U.S. Supreme Court ruled this summer that universities can no longer consider race as a factor when making their admissions decisions, the idea that getting into college would be based on merit was good news for some students but bad news for others.

 

Everyone from teachers and parents to admission counselors had to figure out what the decision from Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard and its companion case, Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina would mean for them, but no one would feel its effects more deeply than high school seniors.

 

In a recent piece for The Washington Post, writer Hannah Natanson followed two high school students who were hoping to get into Ivy League colleges in the wake of the decision and showed how it influenced their approach to college applications.

 

Statistics show black students were getting preferential treatment in admissions process due to affirmative action

 

Statistics from a consultant’s report for the plaintiff in the Harvard lawsuit show that Goodman was not wrong to reconsider his goals following the ruling. Some extrapolations made by X user i/o (@eyeslasho) in response to the Washington Post story show that if only academic merit was considered in the acceptance decision-making process, only 0.94 percent of black applicants would have been accepted to the school versus the 15.81 percent who were actually accepted that year, assuming an acceptance rate of 10 percent.

 

This means that just 1 of every 16 black students admitted using the previous affirmative action system would have gotten into Harvard if it was based solely on academic merit.

 

However, assuming an acceptance rate of 10 percent is very generous; Harvard’s actual acceptance rate is closer to 3 percent. When the SAT score distribution curves are considered for various racial groups, i/o points out that fewer than 0.94 percent of black students would have been accepted in a meritocratic system, which would have been fewer than 1 in every 20 applicants.

 

In other words, Harvard was giving Black students overwhelmingly preferential treatment under affirmative action at the expense of White students and Asian students in particular.

The terms “Hebrew”, “Israelite”, and “Jew” are often conflated and they do, indeed, have overlapping meanings, but they are also distinct terms that sometimes reference diametrically opposed things. For instance, without a false understanding of what the terms “Israel” and “Church” mean, there would be no such thing as ‘Christian’ Zionism. In this episode, we go over the Scriptural (and a bit of the historical) case with regard to the Jews — who they are, what they’ve done, and what that means for Christians.

Over a course of millennia, the Jewish people have shown a pattern of behavior (one that continues to this day) that has brought them into near-constant conflict with their neighbors. Many of our Christian forefathers have commented on this matter (e.g., John Chrysostom, Martin Luther, Paul). It is not inappropriate for Christians to ask questions about the Jews, about their behavior, and about their actions down through history.

 

In this episode, we examine the history of the Jewish people from just after the time of Christ until just before the Enlightenment. It is in the annals of history that the Jews have proven themselves to be, in the words of Scripture, ‘enemies of all mankind’ who ‘displease God’. Not idly does Christ speak of them as the Synagogue of Satan (n.b., the words He chose).

 

Christians need not fear the truth, no matter how unpopular (or, in some cases, illegal) it may be. Again, the words of Christ: “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28 [ESV]).

Christians must be ready --- in season and out of season — to speak the truth. We are not Christians only some of the time, and Christianity, unlike Islam, has no provision for dissimulation — you may not feign to be something other than Christian for the sake of convenience or even safety. Even at risk of life or limb or honor, the Christian must boldly proclaim Christ and Him crucified.

 

This duty to speak the truth pertains not only to matters of the Christian religion, but also to all other matters. It is not the (perhaps uncharitable formulation of the) Kantian conception of truth --- that one must never tell a falsehood of any kind —, but rather a duty to speak the truth when and where the truth is demanded. For instance, the 8th Commandment prohibits us from bearing false witness against our neighbor, and this duty does not terminate upon that neighbor’s death.

 

The Christian is a Christian at all times and in all things. As Christians, we are to forgive our personal enemies (inimicus), but this does not mean that we have no political or religious enemies (hostis) --- for those who are enemies of God are enemies of all Christians. It is the duty, in fact, of Christians to oppose the enemies of God and His Church. And so, in today’s episode, we continue our series on the Jews.

Dutch Central Bank Admits It Has Prepared for a New Gold Standard

In a recent interview the Dutch central bank (DNB) shares it has equalized its gold reserves, relative to GDP, to other countries in the eurozone and outside of Europe. This has been a political decision. If there is a financial crisis the gold price will skyrocket, and official gold reserves can be used to underpin a new gold standard, according to DNB. These statements confirm what I have been writing for the past years about central banks having prepared for a new international gold standard.

 

Wouldn’t a central bank that has one primary objective—maintaining price stability—serve its mandate best by communicating the currency it issues can be relied upon in all circumstances? By saying gold will be the safe haven of choice during a financial collapse, DNB confesses its own currency (the euro) does not weather all storms. Indirectly, DNB encourages people to own gold to be protected from financial shocks, making the transition towards a gold based monetary system more likely.

 

In my latest article on this subject—“Europe Has Been Preparing a Global Gold Standard Since the 1970s. Part 2”—I have demonstrated that central banks of medium and large economies in the eurozone have balanced their official gold reserves, proportionally to GDP, to prepare for a gold standard (/gold price targeting system). My analysis was pieced together by scarce quotes from central banks and data of European gold and foreign exchange holdings. My conclusion was that several medium-size economies in Europe (the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Portugal) sold large amounts of gold from the early 1990s to 2008 to come on par with France, Germany, and Italy. I wrote:

 

Seemingly there are guidelines in the eurozone for national central banks to hold an appropriate amount of gold relative to GDP.

 

In another article, I revealed that in the early 1990s the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) was buying the gold DNB was selling. By selling gold Europe was allowing developing countries to buy gold and come on par with the West. China too has expressed its desire to bring its gold holdings more in line with the size of its economy, just like the Europeans, and thus to international averages. From Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad in 1993:

 

China announced that it is working to build up its [gold] reserves in order to bring it more in line with the size of Chinese GDP.

 

The above, and DNB’s most recent confirmation of leveling reserves, implies there are international agreements on the distribution of gold holdings.

Evenly spread gold reserves internationally are a prerequisite for a smooth transition to a gold standard. If some countries own too much and others too little, as was the case in the 1970s, a newly implemented gold standard would prove to be deflationary because the ones with too little gold would have to buy in, pushing up the real price of gold. As long as official gold reserves are evenly spread the nominal gold price can be increased to what is suited for all countries, before introducing a new system.

 

Another sign of Europe having prepared for a new gold arrangement are the repatriations by several countries. In the eurozone Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Austria repatriated (and redistributed) bullion for security reasons, while keeping a substantial share of their assets in liquid markets such as London. Additionally, Germany, France, and Sweden, that we know of, have upgraded gold bars that didn’t adhere to current wholesale industry standards so now all their metal can be traded instantly.

 

Last but not least, European central banks’ communication about gold has become unequivocally clear and candid. Stating “gold is the bedrock of stability for the international monetary system” (Germany), “gold is an excellent hedge against adversity” (Italy), “gold is … considered to be the ultimate store of value” (France), and gold “may play a stabilising role … in times of structural changes in the international financial system or deep geopolitical crises” (Hungary). Remarkable statements from entities tasked with guaranteeing financial stability.

 

When I asked European central banks about a legal requirement to equalize their gold reserves, two of them replied there is no such obligation. Which is strange given the obvious aligning of reserves over the past decades, illustrated in the charts below, and the new comments by DNB.

 

DNB provides an explanation in the aforementioned interview by revealing that their gold policy is set in consultation with its shareholder, the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands. The idea of balancing gold reserves was first conceived in the 1970s and then executed from the early 1990s until 2008. With no legal requirements for European central banks to balance reserves, the seeds of their actions could be found at their respective governments.

 

My Freedom of Information (FOI) requests about this subject submitted at DNB have never yielded results because DNB is exempt from such inquiries. This week I have sent FOIs to the Dutch Ministry of Finance to find out what gold policy agreements governments have made internationally. To be continued.

Blue-eyed, fair-skinned settlers inhabited the Levant some 6,500 years ago, according to an international interdisciplinary team of scientists. An article released Monday in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Communications solves the mystery of how Chalcolithic culture got to the Galilee: via population migration.

 

When they mapped the genomes of bones from 22 of the 600 individual skeletons discovered in a massive necropolis near Peki’in in the north of the country, the scientists found a genetic mix quite unlike that of previous and successive settlers of the region.

 

The findings address the decades-long arguments over the origins of this distinctive Late Chalcolithic culture, the artifacts of which “have few stylistic links to the earlier or later material cultures of the region,” write the authors…

 

n the article, “Ancient DNA from Chalcolithic Israel reveals the role of population mixture in cultural transformation,” the scientists concluded that the homogeneous community found in the cave could source ~57% of its ancestry from groups related to those of the local Levant Neolithic, ~26% from groups related to those of the Anatolian Neolithic, and ~17% from groups related to those of the Iran Chalcolithic…

 

“The genetic analysis provided an answer to the central question we set out to address,” said Harvard’s Reich. “It showed that the Peki’in people had substantial ancestry from northerners – similar to those living in Iran and Turkey – that was not present in earlier Levantine farmers.”

 

…As a result, the researchers were able to do a whole genome analysis of 22 of the skeletons.

 

“This study of 22 individuals is one of the largest ancient DNA studies carried out from a single archaeological site, and by far the largest ever reported in the Near East,” said Tel Aviv University researcher May.

 

The scientists uncovered some recessive genetic traits not usually expected in human remains from the Levant.

 

“Certain characteristics, such as genetic mutations contributing to blue eye color, were not seen in the DNA test results of earlier Levantine human remains,” said May.

We need a term to describe:

a. that they are a subset and not a stereotype

b. that they converge around a mindset

c. that they have and use an excuse for their actions

d. that they will take actions that go beyond boundries

e. that they are will to destroy in order to accomplish their agenda.

 

As I tried numerous combinations, I kept coming back to "gang of" to describe their sub-grouping and "organized" as in organization, whether explicit or implicit, based upon "fanatical" principles.Thus the post-term:

and the pre-term to describe an individual

Israel has been accused of misrepresenting water reservoirs and elevator shafts inside Al-Shifa and other hospitals as “Hamas tunnels” in what critics say is an effort to justify what would otherwise be illegal airstrikes. A video purporting to show a Palestinian nurse complaining Hamas was “taking over” Al-Shifa was also exposed as fake, with the “nurse” identified as an Israeli actress.

U.S. & Germany Push Zelensky To Negotiate, Ceding Territory to Russia.

 

The U.S. and German governments now believe the Ukrainian military is incapable of retaking territory lost to Russia in the course of the latter’s invasion. According to the German news outlet BILD, the two governments hope Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will come to realize the need for negotiations with Russia. A German government source told the outlet, “Zelensky should come to the realization that things cannot go on like this.” The failure of Ukraine’s counter-offensive has left U.S. and German officials concluding additional weapons shipments to the country should only be in quantities needed to hold the war front and prevent further Russian territorial gains. “He should address his nation of his own free will and explain that negotiations need to be carried out,” the government source said.

Top DODEA administrator nabbed in human trafficking sting

The chief of staff for Defense Department schools in the United States was arrested last week on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute during a human trafficking sting, according to media reports.

Stephen Hovanic, 64, of Sharpsburg, Ga., was nabbed on a pandering charge during a two-day operation last week by Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, WSB-TV in Atlanta reported Tuesday. Coweta is approximately 25 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Hovanic has worked for Department of Defense Education Activity for nearly three decades, the past 13 years as chief of staff for the Americas region, according to the activity’s website. DODEA administers schools on U.S. military bases worldwide.

The sting was initiated Nov. 15 by members of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, which requested assistance from Haralson County’s Special Operations Division, according to a social media post by the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

No details on where or how the sting was conducted were released, but 26 individuals were arrested, 12 for prostitution, 10 for pandering and four for pimping, according to the post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Six trafficked victims were rescued and moved to safety, the post said. Three of the arrested individuals are under investigation for human trafficking and drug charges.

Pandering is the legal term for paying or attempting to pay for sex. It — along with pimping — is a misdemeanor under Georgia law.

Hovanic was arrested on the sting’s first day, The Daily Caller reported Tuesday. He told jail staff he works for the Defense Department in Peachtree City, home of DODEA-Americas headquarters, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office administrator Eva Tedder told the site.

A DODEA spokesman could not be reached for comment after hours on Wednesday.

Hovanic, an honorably discharged veteran who attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, began his academic career in 1982 as a high school vocational teacher, coach and school administrator for Virginia public schools, according to his DODEA biography. He joined DODEA in 1996 as an assistant principal at Quantico Middle-High School and later served as principle of Dahlgren Unit School.

In 2008, Hovanic moved to Peachtree City as an instructional systems specialist and was named chief of staff two years later, according his biography.
