There are problems with ballots, unless they are carefully monitored. Ballots can be stolen, altered, hidden, burned, cast multiple times, are not re-callable, are almost never replayed or recounted, can be made slightly smaller and election machines can process them for a minute and spit them back out uncounted for by programming the election machines error handling code, and the list goes on and on.

 

What I proposed was a dynamic programmable ballot that when completed can be given to devices directly and can be re-called and changed only by the one who filled out the ballot, thus creating a voting and recall system in one. No more waiting for terms to end, as a counting application would run every hour and recount the votes. If someone could, for whatever reason tamper with a ballot it would only affect a potential of 1/325,000,000 votes whereas they way things are now, if someone hacked an election machine they can potentially change an entire county or state's result affecting millions and millions of votes with one hack.

 

Set me up already PDJT, this is getting too long in the tooth, not even sure if there is enough time but we must try even as a secondary measure. When this is released all the code will be 100% transparent, "numbered", and resolves every issue of paper ballots.

The Vatican said it’s joining Bank of America Corp.’s Brian Moynihan, Salesforce.com Inc.’s Marc Benioff and about 25 other leaders in an effort to create “a more equitable and sustainable economic system.”

The Council for Inclusive Capitalism with the Vatican is comprised of executives, who collectively run companies employing 200 million workers in 163 countries.

The group will meet annually with Pope Francis and Cardinal Peter Turkson, who oversees the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, according to a statement posted Tuesday.

“An economic system that is fair, trustworthy, and capable of addressing the most profound challenges facing humanity and our planet is urgently needed,” the pope said in the statement.

The newly created council will take on the challenge “by seeking ways to make capitalism become a more inclusive instrument for integral human wellbeing,” he said.

Despite global economic growth over the past few decades, business leaders have been slow to address the widespread disparities in wealth, race and gender.

Under pressure from shareholders, customers and employees, they’ve started to confront those inequities.

For example, BlackRock Inc., the world’s largest asset manager, has said sustainability is a top investment priority, while Citigroup Inc. has vowed to spend $1 billion to help close the racial income gap.

And last year, the Business Roundtable, which represents some of the largest U.S. corporations, said companies should consider all their stakeholders, not just generate profits for themselves and investors.

 

Members of the Vatican’s council include BP Plc Chief Executive Officer Bernard Looney, William Lauder of Estee Lauder Cos., Visa Inc. CEO Alfred Kelly, Fiona Ma, the treasurer for the state of California, and Mark Carney, the former governor of the Bank of England.

Chiefs from companies, including Mastercard Inc. and Johnson & Johnson, and organizations such as the Rockefeller and Ford foundations also will sit on the council.

Marcie Frost, CEO of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, likens the council to the work done by Climate Action 100+, an initiative that seeks to put pressure on the world’s largest polluters.

She said the council will hold companies accountable for their public commitments on everything from racial diversity to reducing carbon emissions.

“Being aspirational doesn’t mean much over time,” Frost said in a telephone interview.

“We want to make sure companies are executing specific commitments,” she said, adding that data is vital in holding businesses to account and them achieving their goals.

Prostate-specific antigen level association with COVID-19 infection and vaccination

 

Abstract

Introduction: The associations among SARS-CoV-2 infection, vaccination and total serum prostate serum antigen (PSA) levels in men undergoing screening for prostate cancer are unknown.

 

Methods: A retrospective analysis of data from a large health maintenance organization. Records of individuals aged 50 to 75 years with two serum PSA tests taken between March 2018 and November 2021 were included. Individuals with prostate cancer were excluded. Changes in PSA levels were compared between individuals who had at least 1 SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and/or infection between the two PSA tests and individuals who did not have an infection and were not vaccinated between the two PSA tests. Subgroup analyses were performed to assess the impact of the elapsed time between the event and the second PSA test on the results.

 

Results: The study and control groups included 6,733 (29%) and 16 286 (71%) individuals, respectively. Although the median time between PSA tests was shorter in the study vs. the control group (440 vs. 469 days, P<.001), PSA elevation between the tests was higher in the study group (0.04 vs. 0.02, P<.001). The relative risk for PSA elevation ≥1 ng/dL was 1.22 (95% CI 1.1, 1.35). Among individuals who were vaccinated, PSA increased by 0.03 ng/dL (IQR -0.12, 0.28) and 0.09 ng/dL (IQR -0.05, 0.34) after 1 and 3 doses, respectively (P<.001). Multivariate linear regression showed that SARS-CoV-2 events (β 0.043; 95% CI 0.026-0.06) were associated with a greater risk for PSA elevation, after adjusting for age, baseline PSA and days between PSA tests.

 

Conclusion: SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccinations are associated with a slight increase in PSA, with the third anti-COVID vaccine dose having a more prominent impact, but its clinical significance is unknown yet. Any significant increase in PSA must be investigated and cannot be dismissed as secondary to SARS-CoV-2 infection or vaccination.

Information warfare campaigns designed by the U.S. government to target Americans with the aim of splitting them apart from their countrymen through weaponized falsehoods are rooted in new methods of shaping and controlling the online communities that many Americans trust to interpret the world around them. From Russiagate to COVID-19 to Jan. 6, the newness and force of these campaigns has knocked the country senseless, with the left readily acclimating itself to third-world norms, and large parts of the right increasingly hopeless.

 

What the right has learned from a decade of information warfare targeting it is to distrust the media. Knowing, for instance, that the Justice Department interfered in the 2016, 2020, and now the 2024 elections, what else is phony? Was 9/11 an inside job after all? What about the moon landing? What haven’t we been lied to about? Our families are real, our kids are real. But what else is there to hold on to? It’s like reaching for a life raft and finding only splinters. But it’s not, and the right can’t afford to let itself be fooled into despair with so much at stake. The same U.S. government agencies and officials that pushed everything from Russiagate to the Russia bounty story and lied about the origins of COVID-19, Hunter Biden’s laptop, and the character of Jan. 6 protests are now warning that Israel’s war against Hamas is likely to drag U.S. forces into WWIII. It’s another information operation designed to disorient and demoralize the America First camp. This time, however, there’s a big difference—an influential segment of the right is amplifying the left’s campaign against them.

 

The left claims that America is a fraud at its origins, a racist hoax perpetrated against nonwhites to this very day. The left tears down monuments, desecrates our heroes, replaces our holidays, and rewrites our history to suit their pathological grievances. It’s a whole-of-party effort to force the middle class to our knees in despair, so that the country’s ruling class and the oligarchs can continue running their high-tech monopolies while defunding police forces and opening the borders to depress wages, impoverish communities, and terrorize families.

 

But now, the right is in danger of transitioning into the left. Maybe it shouldn’t be surprising that amid the ruins, some of those capitalizing on the chaos and preying on the shell-shocked are themselves from the right. A year ago, for example, right-wing influencer Jackson Hinkle sounded like a normal Trump voter. After Biden delivered his infamous Philadelphia speech accusing his political opponents of terrorism, Hinkle called him a dictator, and said he was plunging us into fascism at the behest of George Soros and Klaus Schwab while using the intelligence agencies to target freedom-loving Americans. Most of that is true.

 

Today, however, Hinkle’s Twitter feed looks like nothing more than a Soros-funded operation, pumping out reports every hour enticing clicks via the eternal threat that is antisemitism, and promoting actual America-hating terrorists in the process. ChatGPT creator joins forces with Pentagon

 

ChatGPT creator OpenAI is working with the US military on several artificial intelligence projects after dropping a prohibition on the use of its technologies for “military and warfare” purposes, a company executive told Bloomberg on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

 

The AI pioneer is developing “open-source cybersecurity software” and discussing how to prevent suicides among military veterans with the US government, OpenAI vice president of global affairs Anna Makanju said.

 

While Makanju did not elaborate on either project, she explained that OpenAI’s decision to remove a blanket prohibition on the use of its AI tech for “military and warfare” applications was in line with a broader policy update “to adjust to new uses of ChatGPT and its other tools,” according to Bloomberg.

 

“Because we previously had what was essentially a blanket prohibition on military, many people thought that would prohibit many of these use cases, which people think are very much aligned with what we want to see in the world,” she explained.

 

Despite the ban’s repeal, Makanju insisted OpenAI continues to prohibit the use of its technology to “develop weapons, destroy property, or harm people.”

 

However, Microsoft, which owns a large part of OpenAI and enjoys the unrestricted use of its advanced AI technologies, has long contracted with the US military and other branches of the government, and lacks any inbuilt prohibition on weapons development, according to Bloomberg.

 

In addition to partnering with the Pentagon for military applications, OpenAI is expanding its operations in the realm of “election security,” according to CEO Sam Altman, who also spoke to Bloomberg during the Davos conclave.

 

“Elections are a huge deal,” he said, declaring it “good” that “we have a lot of anxiety” about the process.

 

His company is reportedly working on preventing the use of its generative AI tools to spread “political disinformation,” such as deepfakes and other artificially-generated media that could be used to attack or prop up candidates during the 2024 voting cycle.

 

Last month, OpenAI and Microsoft were sued by the New York Times for copyright infringement, with the self-anointed paper of record declaring their generative AI capabilities to be unfair competition and an existential threat to press freedom. The lawsuit seeks “billions of dollars in statutory and actual damages” for “unlawful copying” and use of the NYT’s intellectual property.

 

Susman Godfrey, the law firm representing the NYT, also proposed a class action lawsuit against the AI titans in November for “rampant theft” of authors’ works, alleging the companies illegally used nonfiction authors’ writings without their permission to “train” their blockbuster chatbot ChatGPT

WESTCLIFFE, Colo. (KDVR) — When a 16-year-old female runaway was found far from home in a trailer with two middle-aged men, deputies from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office showed no concern the teen might have been the victim of sex trafficking, according to a newly filed lawsuit.

 

Instead, the civil complaint filed by the teenager alleges a deputy would repeatedly shock the girl with a Taser, causing her to urinate on herself.

 

The plaintiff, identified in the lawsuit only as L.Z., was reported to have stolen a car from her guardian’s home in Cañon City on Jan. 18, 2022.

 

As part of their search, deputies pinged L.Z.’s phone and tracked it to a trailer in Westcliffe, an hour away from where she’d last been seen, where she was found with two middle-aged men.

 

The lawsuit claims that Deputy Michael Kear wasn’t interested in the fact that two older men were harboring a runaway teenage girl or appeared to be supplying her with alcohol. The lawsuit also says deputies didn’t investigate the men for any crimes, allowed one man to leave the scene without identifying him and declined to arrest the other man, a 51-year-old with an outstanding warrant.

 

Body camera recordings show an interaction where the 51-year-old asks, “She’s not 18?” Then, after being told her actual age, he responds, “Oh, wow.” The other male companion can be heard saying, “I don’t know nothing, I apologize,” before he was allowed to leave.

 

The lawsuit claims this is despite Kear later acknowledging that the girl appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

 

When Kear asked the 51-year-old if the girl had been using drugs, he responded that he did not know. According to the lawsuit, he then “spontaneously asserted that he traveled all over the state, as well as to South Dakota, and regularly ‘helped’ girls like L.Z. by letting them stay at his trailer, which contained a single bed.”

 

“This is a 16-year-old runaway in a trailer with two middle-aged men. She’s isolated, intoxicated, afraid, with no ID, hiding in a closet,” said Kevin Mehr, who represents L.Z. “These are all red flags for sex trafficking. But these officers ignore them and proceed to use their Tasers like cattle prods on an underage victim cheering each other on the whole way.”

 

The lawsuit says Kear and other deputies on the scene never investigated the possible crimes of contributing to the delinquency of a minor or human trafficking. It also claims the footage shows the deputies handcuffing L.Z., dragging her to a patrol car and then shocking her with a Taser. Body camera footage released to the Problem Solvers appears to match what is outlined in the lawsuit.

 

According to the lawsuit, Kear claimed that the girl attempted to bite him but was unsuccessful. Eventually, she was put in the back of the police car but used her foot to block the door from closing, and that’s when Kear shocked her with a Taser, the lawsuit says.

 

Once the girl was brought to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, body camera footage shows she was shocked with a Taser a second time while sitting in the back of the car, and then she was placed in a restraint chair.

 

According to the lawsuit, this caused L.Z. to urinate, convulse and hyperventilate. Instead of providing her medical assistance, Kear threatened to shock her again.

 

The lawsuit claims that Kear requested L.Z. be charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest, but the charge was dismissed by the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office after a motion was filed by L.Z.

 

According to the lawsuit, Kear was later fired by the Custer County Sheriff’s Office while under investigation for claims of sexual misconduct with coworkers and underage girls.

 

FOX31 contacted Custer County for comment and was sent the following statement: “The current sheriff, Rich Smith, has not been served yet with the lawsuit but is very concerned about the allegations. Sheriff Smith requested today the Colorado Bureau of Investigation review the January 18, 2022 incident which is documented on body worn cameras and in police reports. Sheriff Smith volunteered to support their findings, up to and including the possibility of criminal charges. Sheriff Smith also notified the Colorado POST director of the allegations,” the statement said, referring to the Peace Officer Standards and Training unit.

 

The Problem Solvers confirmed that Kear was fired for cause in October 2022, according to the Colorado POST database.

The lawsuit also says deputies didn’t investigate the men for any crimes, allowed one man to leave the scene without identifying him and declined to arrest the other man, a 51-year-old with an outstanding warrant.

 

Body camera recordings show an interaction where the 51-year-old asks, “She’s not 18?” Then, after being told her actual age, he responds, “Oh, wow.” The other male companion can be heard saying, “I don’t know nothing, I apologize,” before he was allowed to leave.

 

The lawsuit claims this is despite Kear later acknowledging that the girl appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

 

When Kear asked the 51-year-old if the girl had been using drugs, he responded that he did not know. According to the lawsuit, he then “spontaneously asserted that he traveled all over the state, as well as to South Dakota, and regularly ‘helped’ girls like L.Z. by letting them stay at his trailer, which contained a single bed.”

 

“This is a 16-year-old runaway in a trailer with two middle-aged men. She’s isolated, intoxicated, afraid, with no ID, hiding in a closet,” said Kevin Mehr, who represents L.Z. “These are all red flags for sex trafficking. But these officers ignore them and proceed to use their Tasers like cattle prods on an underage victim cheering each other on the whole way.”

 

The lawsuit says Kear and other deputies on the scene never investigated the possible crimes of contributing to the delinquency of a minor or human trafficking. It also claims the footage shows the deputies handcuffing L.Z., dragging her to a patrol car and then shocking her with a Taser. Body camera footage released to the Problem Solvers appears to match what is outlined in the lawsuit.

 

According to the lawsuit, Kear claimed that the girl attempted to bite him but was unsuccessful. Eventually, she was put in the back of the police car but used her foot to block the door from closing, and that’s when Kear shocked her with a Taser, the lawsuit says.

 

Once the girl was brought to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, body camera footage shows she was shocked with a Taser a second time while sitting in the back of the car, and then she was placed in a restraint chair.

 

According to the lawsuit, this caused L.Z. to urinate, convulse and hyperventilate. Instead of providing her medical assistance, Kear threatened to shock her again.

 

The lawsuit claims that Kear requested L.Z. be charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest, but the charge was dismissed by the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office after a motion was filed by L.Z.

 

According to the lawsuit, Kear was later fired by the Custer County Sheriff’s Office while under investigation for claims of sexual misconduct with coworkers and underage girls.
