Delegates from 194 member states will attend the WHO General Assembly in Geneva of May 27th to June 1st, 2024, and vote on a new pandemic treaty and a fundamental reform of the existing International Health Regulations (IHR). As they are to vote on a significant expansion of the powers of the WHO and its Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a fierce debate has since broken out in almost all countries months before the assembly. In Article 55 of the IHR, Tedros is obliged to communicate the text of any proposed amendment to all Member States at least four months before the vote.

The English word shall must be translated as an imperative command here. Public disclosure is therefore mandatory. Tedros would therefore have had to submit a final draft text on January 27, 2024 to enable a statutory vote. This did not happen until March 2024. Therefore, Tedros does not comply with regulations and is therefore not trustworthy!

Iran seizes Israeli-linked container ship (VIDEO)

 

The seizure came after Tehran promised to deal Israel a “slap in the face”

 

Iranian commandos have stormed an Israeli-operated container ship in the Persian Gulf and taken control of the vessel. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz condemned the “pirate operation” and called on the West to impose sanctions on Tehran.

 

The MSC Aries was boarded by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy troops as it transited the Strait of Hormuz around noon on Saturday. Once under the IRGC’s control, it was taken to Iranian territorial waters, Iranian state media reported.

 

Video footage shared online showed IRGC commandos rappelling onto the deck of the ship from a helicopter.

 

The Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries is operated by Zodiac Maritime, a shipping firm owned by Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer. At the time of the seizure, it was sailing past the Emirati port of Fujairah with its transponder switched off, the Associated Press reported. With Iran controlling the Strait of Hormuz and Yemen’s Houthi rebels attacking Israeli shipping interests in the Red Sea, it is standard practice for Israeli-linked vessels to disable their tracking data when sailing in the region.

Since 2019, Iran has periodically seized Israeli and Western vessels in the Strait of Hormuz during times of increased tension. Tehran typically offers legal justification for these seizures, but gave no such explanation on Saturday.

However, Saturday’s seizure came two weeks after an alleged Israeli airstrike on an Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus. The strike killed seven officers of the IRGC’s Quds Force, including two generals.

 

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed to deal Israel a “slap in the face” in response, and American officials warned on Friday that Tehran could be gearing up for a massive drone and missile strike on Israeli soil over the weekend. It is unclear whether Iran plans further attacks after seizing the MSC Aries.

 

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz condemned the seizure, accusing Khamenei’s “criminal regime” of “conducting a pirate operation in violation of international law.”

 

“I call on the European Union and the free world to immediately declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guards corps as a terrorist organization and to sanction Iran now,” he wrote on X.

US bans Russian metals

 

Washington and London have limited trading of Russian aluminum, copper, and nickel on their exchanges

 

Washington has banned the import of Russian-origin aluminum, copper, and nickel into the US, and coordinated with the UK to crack down on the trade of these metals on global exchanges.

 

The decision will affect metals produced in Russia after April 13, 2024, with the world’s leading commodity exchanges – the London Metal Exchange (LME) and Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) – set to ban trade in these metals.

 

The new prohibitions will “continue to target the revenue Russia can earn” to fund its military operation in Ukraine, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a press release on Friday.

The US aims to “reduce Russia’s earnings while protecting our partners and allies from unwanted spillover effects,” Yellen added.

 

According to Moscow’s ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, this “unjustified and politicized step” will inevitably backfire.

 

Washington’s decision is “probably based on calculations that commodity prices will not skyrocket in the US itself,” Antonov said, noting that the US has already reduced its own imports of Russian metals to a minimum.

However, with this new “illegal” move, the US administration actually “provokes imbalances on the global markets by involving its satellite states in sanctions,” he added.

 

Russia will take further steps to work around Western sanctions and diversify its foreign trade, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday on a visit to China. He discussed the “economic gaps” resulting from the “illegal policy of unilateral sanctions,” as well as plans regarding how to tackle them within the framework of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.

Ukrainian Shelling Killed At Least Ten Civilians In Tokmak, Zaporozhie Region

 

On April 12, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched bloody attack on the town of Tokmak in the Zaporozhie region. The day after attack, the death toll increased to ten civilians. According to local reports, the AFU used cluster munitions in an attempt to increase civilian casualties.

 

The Russian governor of the Zaporozhye region confirmed that the number of civilian casualties as a result of the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Tokmak has increased. On April 13, rescuers recovered two more bodies of the killed civilians, an adult and a child, from the rubble.

 

Two civilians are still missing, the debris is being dismantled and the search continues.

 

Shortly before that, rescuers saved lives of five more people taken from the rubble, all of them were heavily wounded but survived the attack.

 

The attack took place on the afternoon of April 12. Deaths of eight civilians, including two children, were immediately confirmed. At least 20 civilians were wounded.

 

The Ukrainian military is regularly shelling residential areas in Tokmak. On April 9, the AFU struck the local car shop with the US-made HIMARS MLRS. Fortunately, casualties were avoided.

Our bank deposits and stocks and bonds, in the event the depository institution gets into trouble, belong to the depository institution’s creditors, not to us. You might wonder why regulatory authorities permitted something so dangerous and irresponsible to occur.

 

To state the bottom line in another way, “your” securities serve as collateral for the creditors of depository institutions. Your right to “your” property terminates the minute the depository institution gets in financial trouble.

Russia Now Says It Expects 'Unconditional Capitulation Of Zelensky Regime' Before Peace

President Putin this month said this is a necessary response to Ukraine's own cross-border attacks on Russia's energy sector, which has been devastating of late, resulting in a significant drop in Russia's gasoline production.

 

But lost in the global geopolitical headlines, which have been largely driven by the Israel-Gaza war and a showdown over the coming expected Iranian attack on Israel, was the shock statement by Russia's ambassador to the United Nations this week.

 

During Thursday's UN Security Council meeting, Vasily Nebenzya, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, said that Moscow now expects the "unconditional capitulation" of the Zelensky government.

 

Ambassador Nebenzya told the body:

The interest on the federal debt was $1.06 trillion in the first six months of FY 2024. That’s higher than the entire defense budget for the year of $825 billion. We’re going broke fast and President Joe Biden is doing everything he can to accelerate it.

 

And, of course, Old Joe wants to keep spending recklessly. His new student loan “forgiveness” will cost hundreds of billions. And that, of course, is happening after the Supreme Court told Biden he didn’t have any authority to “forgive” student loans. He’s doing it in defiance of the law, but that’s Joe. (BTW, “loan forgiveness” is only possible when it’s your money that you tell someone he doesn’t have to pay back.) Ain’t Bidenomics great?

 

And, of course, Biden is still trying to prevent Israel from attacking the last Hamas stronghold in Rafah City. USAF Conducts B-52 Bomber Exercise With 'Unarmed' Nuclear Cruise Missiles

 

Hans Kristensen, a nuclear weapons expert at the Federation of American Scientists, posted on X that the United States Air Force conducted a "nuclear exercise with B-52 bombers" at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota this past week. This exercise coincides with a week of soaring tensions in the Middle East.

 

Airmen from the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot AFB and the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale AFB (located in Louisiana) participated in Exercise Prairie Vigilance at the air base in North Dakota between April 6 and 12.

 

Prairie Vigilance is considered a "routine training mission that enhances the safety, security, and reliability of the bomber leg of the US nuclear triad," the service wrote in a press release published on the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service website.

The service continued, "Exercises like Prairie Vigilance enable crews to maintain a high state of readiness and proficiency, while validating the always-ready, global strike capability," adding, "Team Minot Airmen focus on the safe and secure handling of assets comprising the nuclear triad in order to stay proficient in a variety of key operational skills."

 

Kristensen said this is the third such exercise in six months. He posted images of unarmed nuclear AGM-86B cruise missiles being rolled out to the staging area to be loaded on at least one Boeing B-52 Stratofortress.
