IRL got in the way of finishing the thought on the DNC letting Kamikaze, communist, Kamala go full steam ahead, especially with the media now calling her out a bit on what she's proposing.

 

It's like a Kamikaze attack. Perhaps neither she nor Waltz were ever intended to finish this out.

 

The DNC once again "democratically" "selects" another candidate. "See, we couldn't go full communist." The media get to pat themselves on the back for calling Kamala out, "see, you can trust us," and Trump well be admonished for cancelling the next debate with was to be with Kamala but hey?

 

Switch and bait with a lifesaver thrown out for the main stream media.

SAN ANTONIO – Security officials at JBSA-Chapman Training Annex in San Antonio exchanged gunfire with active shooters attempting to breach the main gate early this morning.

 

According to KSAT, there were two separate shootings near the gate with the first incident happening around 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

 

Air Force security guards working the gate told police they heard several shots in addition to shots fired at them.

 

In response, more armed security was added to the gate as a precaution.

 

According to KSAT, the second incident happened around 4:30 a.m. when a vehicle stopped just east of the main gate. More shots were then fired at the guards who returned fire at the vehicle.

 

No injuries were reported in the incident and the base said the shooters are not known to have any military affiliation.

CNN's Scott Jennings objects to Kamala Harris blaming high prices for things like groceries on "price gauging": SCOTT JENNINGS, CNN: The other thing that I picked up on today was this whole notion that price gouging or gauging as she called it is what people are feeling. That is a total canard. This is not true. This is made up because they're trying to deflect attention from the actual inflation that has caused everything in your life to get more expensive. So they need the American people to believe something other than the truth, there is no price gouging. Grocery stores, these things, they operate on very slim profit margins.

This just in from Tales of the Bizarre: The Democratic National Convention will feature, aside from the usual lunacy, even more lunacy: Free vasectomies, inflatable intra-uterine birth control devices (IUDs), and pharmaceutical abortions outside the convention hall. I suppose you could say that they are putting their money where their mouths are - except for the recipients of this largesse, who aren't paying. While delegates are in Chicago for next week’s Democratic National Convention, they will engage in the typical pageantry and traditions: They’ll vote for their nominee, pose for photos with elected officials, and show off their state with cool buttons or themed hats.

Japan's parliament in a welcome move has raised the age of consent to 16 years from 13 years. The move comes after a wait of more than a century since it last changed in 1907. The historic move sets the ground for rape prosecution and criminalises voyeurism.

The changes enacted Friday make sexual intercourse with someone below age 16 considered rape. They specify eight scenarios of “consentless sex crimes,” a new term for forced sexual intercourse, including being assaulted under the influence of alcohol or drugs, fear, or intimidation.

Human rights groups have stated that this reform will caution all sexual offenders and send a message to the society that sexual violence by adults against toddlers is unacceptable.

The age of consent is not uniform throughout different countries. In India the age of consent is 18, while in Britain it is 16, in Germany and China it is 14. Japan had the lowest age of consent in the world.

The new laws formulated by the Japan Parliament also noted that juvenile couples with an age gap of less than or up to five years will not be prosecuted if both partners are above 13 years of age.

The reform on the national level comes even though many regional centres have banned “obscene acts” with minors and effectively raised the age of consent to 18.

The last time Japan made reforms to the criminal code for sexual offence was in 2017. However, then the government of the Asian country was criticised for doing ‘too little too late’.

In 2019, Japan witnessed widespread protests by different groups against the high rate of acquittals in cases of sexual offences against minors.

In accordance with the old law, a prosecutor would have to prove victims were debilitated due to violence and intimidation. Critics have said that this would mean that victims were being blamed for ‘not resisting enough’.

The latest laws formulated ban the filming, distribution and possession of sexually exploitative images taken without consent. The statute of limitations for sex crimes was also extended by five years, to 10 years for consentless sexual intercourse.

That crime is now subject to up to 15 years in prison, while “photo voyeurism” can be punished by up to three years' imprisonment.

Japan is the only member of the Group of Seven leading industrialised nations which does not have LGTBQ legal protections.

Support for same-sex marriage and other rights has grown among the Japanese public, but opposition remains strong within the governing Liberal Democratic Party, known for conservative values and a reluctance to promote gender equality and sexual diversity.

The final version of the law states that “unjust discrimination” is unacceptable but doesn't clearly ban discrimination.

It says that conditions should be created so that “all citizens can live with peace of mind,” which activists say shows the governing party prioritized the concerns of opponents of equal rights over the rights of sexual minorities.

Israel just upped the ante in its showdown with Iran amid ongoing concerns that an attack from the Islamic Republic could still be imminent in retaliation for the July 31st assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

 

Foreign Minister Israel Katz said Friday that he expects not only the US but also its allies Britain and France to assist in offensive operations against Iran if it attacks. Katz conveyed the comments while meeting British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné, in a bit of a risky diplomatic preemptive move given neither of these countries have openly proclaimed they are ready to launch direct attacks on Iran.

 

The Israeli FM was invoking the example of the United States, and said "that Israel expects France and Britain to publicly clarify to Iran that it is unacceptable for it to attack Israel and that if Iran attacks, the US-led coalition will join Israel not only in defense but also in an attack against significant targets in Iran."

 

It's as yet unclear whether even Washington has signed onto this, though it has moved significant Pentagon assets including an aircraft carrier strike group and submarine into regional waters.

 

When on April 13 Iran fired hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones on Israel, US fighter jets helped intercept many of the inbound projectiles. American warships also engaged inbound missiles. But US involvement was only defensive, and ultimately there was no direct counterstrike on targets inside Iran. France and the UK also took part in this purely defensive operation.

 

"Israel cannot not respond strongly to attacks on it," Katz continued. His assumption is that clearly the US will partner Israel in any potential retaliation.

 

And yet, Israeli media later said of the perhaps presumptuous remarks that they were softened in the later official readout produced by the Israeli foreign ministry:

 

An English-language statement from the meeting, which was held in English, sent out by the Foreign Ministry softened Katz’s message and omitted the sentence about needing to retaliate…

 

"I thanked them for their support of Israel and made it clear that the right way to deter Iran and prevent war is by announcing that if Iran attacks, they will stand with Israel not only in defense but also in striking targets in Iran."

 

However the US and Western allies have so far engaged in offensive strikes only on Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen, amid the ongoing Red Sea shipping crisis.
