Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has officially endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election.โ€‹

 

Kennedy, in a statement, outlined the three primary causes that drove him to this decision: free speech, the war in Ukraine, and what he described as โ€œthe war on our children.โ€

 

He explained that these issues were central to his initial decision to leave the Democratic Party and run as an independent, and now they have compelled him to support Trumpโ€™s candidacy.

 

โ€œThe three great causes that drove me down to this race in the first place, primarily, these are the principal causes that persuaded me to leave the Democratic Party and run as an independent. Now, to throw my support to President Trump, the causes were free speech, the war in Ukraine, and the war on our children,โ€ Kennedy said.

 

Kennedy went on to lament the transformation of the Democrat Party, which he described as having abandoned its roots as the party of the working class, government transparency, and environmental stewardship.

 

โ€œWe were the party of labor, of the working class. The Democrats were the party of government transparency and the champion of the environment. Our party was the bulwark against big money interests and corporate power. True to its name, it was the Party of Democracy,โ€ he said.

 

Reflecting on his decision to leave the Democratic Party, Kennedy cited what he sees as a dramatic departure from the core values he was raised with. โ€œAs you know, I left that party in October because it had departed so dramatically from the core values that I grew up with.โ€

 

Kennedy didnโ€™t hold back in his criticism, labeling the Democratic Party as having become โ€œthe Party of War, Censorship, Corruption, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big Ag, and big money.โ€

 

He also took aim at the partyโ€™s handling of the 2024 election cycle, accusing it of abandoning democratic principles. โ€œThey wanted to abandon democracy by canceling the primary to conceal the cognitive decline of the sitting President,โ€ Kennedy stated, a sharp rebuke of the partyโ€™s current leadership.

GOP Senator Rand Paul has written to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) asking for answers as to why the agency appears to be using terrorist watch lists as a way of surveilling Americans according to their political opinions.

Paul addressed the letter to TSA Administrator David Pekoske, and cited recent revelations that former Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard as well as a woman married to a federal air marshal whistleblower have both been placed on the โ€˜Quiet Skiesโ€™ program watch list and subjected to enhanced surveillance.

Gabbard was seemingly added to the watch list after a Fox News interview during which she criticised the โ€˜deep stateโ€™, while the air marshalโ€™s wife was added after attending Donald Trumpโ€™s speech on January 6th, despite not moving to the Capitol building after it.

โ€œTaken together, these incidents seem to be part of a broader pattern in which TSA has repurposed Quiet Skies to surveil individuals based on their political activities, even when there is no evidence of wrongdoing,โ€ Paul wrote.

The Senator further noted that the incidents โ€œecho concerns highlighted in a previous report by the Department of Homeland Securityโ€™s Office of Inspector General (OIG), which identified critical deficiencies in TSAโ€™s management of the Quiet Skies program.โ€

Deficiencies include โ€œinsufficient oversight and inadequate safeguards to protect against the misuse of passenger data,โ€ Paul added.

The Senator has requested all documentation relating to the procedure of adding people to the โ€˜Quiet Skiesโ€™ program.

Whistleblowers have confirmed that Gabbard has been monitored by air marshals on at least eight flights in the past month.

As we previously highlighted, Gabbard is suing the Biden Harris Administration over the matter.

Steinโ€™s campaign vowed to defend her ballot status in WI in court and to punish the DNC for their use of โ€œlawfareโ€ in elections.

 

WATERTOWN, Wis. โ€” A conservative justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court accused the state top courtโ€™s liberal majority Thursday of stepping โ€œbeyond its neutral roleโ€ in an election case, effectively acting as a lawyer for the Democratic Party.

 

The case the Democratic National Committee brought seeks to block the ballot access of Green Party candidate Jill Stein in the Badger State by challenging the legitimacy of her electors.

 

The court voted to accept the DNCโ€™s petition and take up the case, and Justices Rebecca Bradley and Annette Ziegler issued a withering dissent to the courtโ€™s liberal majority.

 

โ€œThe majority steps beyond its neutral role to lawyer the case on behalf of the DNC, seemingly facilitating an expedited review of this original action,โ€ Bradley wrote.

 

The legal battle began last week when the stateโ€™s DNC deputy operations director David Strang filed a complaint challenging Steinโ€™s ballot access, alleging the Wisconsin Green Party does not have qualified electors to put forward and therefore runs afoul of state election law.

 

When Wisconsinโ€™s top elections officials dismissed the complaint, Strang took the case to the liberal-majority state Supreme Court with an original action petition to kick Stein off the ballot.

 

Despite the legal challenges, there is ample precedent for Steinโ€™s claim to ballot access. Wisconsinโ€™s Green Party was on the ballot in 2022 when a candidate captured 1% of the stateโ€™s vote, and Jill Stein captured 30,000 votes in Wisconsin in the 2016 presidential election.

And in the Dairyland State, those minute margins make a major difference. Four of the last six presidential elections in Wisconsin were decided by fewer than 1% of votes โ€” about 20,000.

 

โ€œThis is a last-ditch effort by a political party operative to disenfranchise the votes of tens of thousands of Wisconsinites,โ€ said Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) President and General Counsel Rick Esenberg.

โ€œA last-minute ruling, not based in law, from the Wisconsin Supreme Court in favor of the DNC would severely damage the faith and trust every day Wisconsinites put in their elections,โ€ he cautioned.

 

WILL also noted that in 2020 the stateโ€™s election commission rejected the Green Partyโ€™s effort to get on the ballot. When the party filed an original action with the stateโ€™s top court in 2020, the majority rejected the petition as untimely by a 4-3 vote, claiming the petition was too close to the election.

 

The Wisconsin Green Party said it has not had a chance to obtain counsel but it would โ€œfight to the best of their abilityโ€ to stop an effort to โ€œsilence dissenting voices in swing states.โ€

โ€œWe are retaining legal counsel and will fight this. We will have a response brief filed by the egregiously short deadline of 5 p.m. Friday,โ€ Steinโ€™s campaign manager, Jason Call, told The Post.

 

โ€œWe appreciate the dissenting opinion of the SCOWIS that the timeline imposed is too short, and our opinion is that the timeline was politically motivated by the liberal majority on the court,โ€ he continued.

 

โ€œI remind people that using the courts to impose the will of a political party is exactly what Democrats have accused Republicans of repeatedly. Furthermore, I want to impress upon the anti-Democratic Party that they will be facing blowback as a result of their actions, in particular that the Wisconsin Greens will be filing candidates now and in the future in every swing district and for all statewide offices.โ€

Steinโ€™s campaign vowed to defend her ballot status in WI in court and to punish the DNC for their use of โ€œlawfareโ€ in elections. AP

 

โ€œWe will do the same in every state where Democrats sue to keep us off the ballot. One of our goals now is to punish the anti-Democrats for their use of โ€˜lawfareโ€™ in elections. People deserve better than this out of the political system in a democracy,โ€ concluded Steinโ€™s campaign manager.

 

As Call noted, the court gave the respondents named in the DNCโ€™s complaint, which includes Wisconsin Elections Commission administrator Meagan Wolf and commission members, until 5 p.m. Friday to respond to the DNCโ€™s challenge.

 

WILL filed an amicus brief with the court in the DNCโ€™s case Friday.

 

Municipal clerks in Wisconsin will begin sending out absentee ballots Sept.19.

Although diamond is our most popular gemstone, this hasn't always been the case. Only in the last century did diamonds become readily available. Prior to that, ruby and sapphire were the most popular gems, especially for engagement rings.

 

Diamonds and the De Beers Corporation

 

Diamonds ascended in the public imagination primarily due to the De Beers corporation. They set up the first large-scale diamond mines in South Africa. Then, they began one of the most successful advertising campaigns in history, convincing consumers that engagement rings should always have a diamond.

 

Diamond Advertising Campaigns

 

With proper encouragement, the movie industry displayed its most glamorous actresses, draped in diamonds. As a result, diamonds soon became a top status symbol for the rich and famous. This peaked perhaps with Marilyn Monroe's performance of the song, Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, in the 1953 film, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

 

Even after winning the admiration of consumers, De Beers continued their advertising. With the discovery of diamonds in the (now former) Soviet Union, they created a new campaign to sell anniversary bands. These made good use of the small but nice-quality diamonds this find produced.

Cornering the Market

 

De Beers did wonderful things for the diamond industry. However, not everything about De Beers is nice. As diamonds were discovered in other parts of Africa and South America, De Beers gained control of the rough diamond supply. Allegedly, the tactics used to gain control included murder and kidnapping.

 

De Beers maintained a monopolistic hold over the diamond market for several decades, controlling 75-85% of the diamond rough supply. They carefully released only enough rough diamonds to satisfy then-current demand, while continually adjusting the degree of rough diamond availability. Of course, this made prices escalate and reinforced the perception of diamond's rarity. De Beers actually mined considerably more rough diamonds than they sold. They maintained a large warehouse of uncut diamonds in London. As a result, they weren't allowed to do business in the United States and a few other countries.

New Discoveries and Developments

 

In the last two decades of the 20th century, things began to change.

 

Satellite technology, originally designed to find likely oil reserves, also showed the geology likely to hold diamonds. As a result, new discoveries began to multiply. For example, Australia became one of the first developed nations to discover major diamond resources. De Beers made a deal with them to distribute all the rough, except for the very rare pink diamonds. In 1996, Australia ended its arrangement with De Beers.

 

De Beers also made a deal with the Soviet Union to distribute their rough diamonds. However, shortly after the Soviet breakup, the Russians let their contract expire and began to sell the diamonds themselves.

 

In 1999, the De Beers London stockpile was valued at $5.2 billion, but they agreed to stop stockpiling diamonds in 2000. In 2004, De Beers agreed to plead guilty to criminal price fixing before a U.S. federal court. This allowed them to once again sell diamonds in the U.S. (In 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to consider an appeal by De Beers against a class action settlement regarding various unfair business practices).

The Democratsโ€™ COVID Amnesia

Keeping schools closed for so long was a mistake, and the Democrats shouldnโ€™t pretend Harris is responsible for opening them.

If it werenโ€™t for Americansโ€™ collective amnesia, politicians would have to spend considerably more time taking pains to tell the truth. But, unburdened by what has been, President Joe Biden claimed on Monday night with a straight face that his vice president and designated successor accomplished a task that surely escaped your notice.

 

โ€œWell, during the pandemic, Kamala helped states and cities get their schools back open,โ€ the president said.

 

In fact, Americaโ€™s public schools were kept closed in Democratic-run cities and states well into the Biden administration, as a direct result of Biden-administration policies. Democrats might count on Americans to be forgiving, but they are not stupid, and they would do well to not let the pageantry of televised politics obfuscate the fact that they are being lied to.

 

Republicans, too, are guilty of mass forgetting. Donald Trump was in charge when schools closed in March 2020, and it was under his watch that the CDC came up with the six-foot social-distancing and mask-wearing rules, strictures he conveniently forgets when he foists disastrous COVID policies on Biden. More generally, heโ€™s tried to erase 2020 from the record books, such as when his campaign asks voters, โ€œAre you better off than you were four years ago?โ€

 

Well, yes, we are. Four years ago, we were terrified that the human race was about to be decimated, sitting ducks for remedies good and bad, which makes it especially important that we donโ€™t fall for the same stories, regardless of which party is telling them.

 

During the 2020 election, many of us were reeling from Trumpโ€™s handling of the pandemic; he was the one who told the whoppers, who suggested that people inject bleach. We needed to be rescued, and the only ship in sight flew a blue flag. All aboard!

 

But then we couldnโ€™t get off. We were captive to decisions sold in the name of science but created more crudely by teachersโ€™ unions and political appointees. Children were among the worst off as Americaโ€”blue America, really, like the host city to the Democratic National Conventionโ€”kept its schools closed longer than any peer country.

 

Does the Biden administration expect voters to not remember this? In our supposed exuberance over Kamala Harris, are we somehow supposed to invent a memory of her heroic effort to pry open schools? Although gaslighting is a term we should probably retire for overuse, itโ€™s worth keeping in mind as we look at the 2020โ€“21 school-reopening timeline we are being asked to magically revise in 2024, with an eye toward what, if anything, Harris had to do with it.

 

Biden promised during the 2020 campaign to get schools open once it was safe. That December, after heโ€™d won the election but before taking office, Biden further vowed to reopen schools within the first 100 days. That pledge raised concerns with teachers, who did not want to go back to the classroom unless they received certain assurances.

 

In February, their campaign got an assist from CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, who, after back-channel meetings with a variety of influential playersโ€”including Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, and Becky Pringle, the president of the National Education Associationโ€”came out with long-awaited reopening guidelines. These included a recommendation that schools in designated COVID hot spots maintain six-foot distancing. Sound reasonable? It wasnโ€™t. Distancing makes in-school learning extremely difficult, and at the time, the great majority of students lived in what the CDC considered high-transmission areas. Although many red states had the good sense to ignore the CDCโ€™s advice, many blue states did not, and Democratic cities dominated by teachersโ€™ unions condemned their students to remote schooling indefinitely. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki provided cold comfort when she told the media that Bidenโ€™s goal was to have โ€œmore than 50 percent [of schools] open by day 100 โ€ฆ at least one day a week.โ€

 

Walensky later told CNNโ€™s Jake Tapper she could not guarantee that all kids would be back in school by the end of the academic year. When he asked her to โ€œpoint to any scientific reason for students in the United States not to return to in-person classes tomorrow,โ€ Walensky suggested that kids just werenโ€™t good enough at masking.

I can hardly lay blame for Walenskyโ€™s fecklessness at Harrisโ€™s feetโ€”but as far as Iโ€™m aware, Harris also didnโ€™t do anything to change the administrationโ€™s policies.

 

Instead of facing down the teachersโ€™ unions and urging local jurisdictions to reopen their schools immediately, the Biden administration decided to try buying their cooperation. On March 5, Harris made what might be seen as her debut on the school-reopening stage, when she cast the tiebreaking vote that allowed the Senate to keep discussing the proposed American Rescue Plan. A week later, Biden signed it into law, allowing $200 billion to flow to Kโ€“12 schoolsโ€”much of it for staffing, but also for improved HVAC and other upgrades that teachers had requested.

 

The Biden administration brags that, in the year after the billโ€™s passage, the percentage of schools open for full-time, in-person instruction increased from 46 percent to 99 percent. But for far too many students, the pace of those reopenings was catastrophically slow. Not until the fall of 2022 could parents in much of the country count on finding school doors openโ€”and even then, spot closures persisted.

 

So what did Biden mean when he said Harris โ€œhelped states and cities get their schools back openโ€? That one vote? I asked the Harris campaign for comment but did not hear back.

 

America still hasnโ€™t reckoned with its pandemic failures, and thatโ€™s true well beyond school closures. Many questions about pandemic policy have not been answered. Instead, decision makers ask voters to understand that if mistakes were made, everyone was doing their best during a hard and confusing time.

 

This past January, Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, admitted to Congress that there was no science behind the six-feet rule, that during the Trump administration it โ€œsort of just appeared.โ€

 

Are we all still trying to digest the pandemic era? Yes.Like the python that swallowed the pig, itโ€™s just too big. But the American people donโ€™t need to hear that things were hard and confusing; we need honesty about the past. In hindsight, we see the many mistakes, how fear and panic had us putting faith in bad ideas (masking toddlers! disinfecting groceries!), only to find ourselves facing altered life trajectoriesโ€”kids who lost years, adults who lost community tethers, loved ones we could not be with when they grew sick and died.

 

Keeping schools closed for so long was a mistake, and the Democrats shouldnโ€™t pretend Harris is responsible for opening them. Nor should voters allow Democrats to pretend that she did.

A couple times a week, before bedtime. I just boil water, add the bark, let steep, usually 30 minutes or more, let cool, strain, take a shot glass or two, rinse mouth with clear water, have a wintergreen mint, go to bed.

I also have made a larger batch and let steep two days in fridge, strsin and keep in fridge for a few days for easy taking/no extra effort nightly. More potent longer steeping. Very nasty taste. Probably why used as tonic to mix with alchol drinks. Makes the medicine moar acceptable as you drink some alcohol with it. I just chug it down like a straight shot, no alcohol.

A steady stream of bureaucratic rule changesin Georgia is creating a framework that election deniers could use to delay the certification of the presidential election resultscome November, advocates say.

 

Why it matters: Former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris know the road to the White House runs through Georgia, and the new rules could help cast doubt and fan flames of suspicion on the democratic process like it's 2020 all over again.

 

Driving the news:In recent months, MAGA and GOP activists have helped push the State Election Board's Republican appointeesto approve what they market as common-sense measures โ€” nuanced and subtle fixes to make elections more secure.

 

Yes, but: In reality, elections officials and progressive activists say, the changes are not warranted. And if implemented, they say, the measures will trip up populous counties like Fulton and DeKalb, which also happen to be Democratic strongholds.

โ€ข "Elections are meant to be slow and deliberate processes with a whole lot of redundancies and checkpoints," Cathy Woolard, the former chair of the Fulton Board of Registration and Elections, told Axios. "You can't just drop in new processes and think that they logically work."

 

New elections measures that were recently approved or are under consideration include:

Vote counts: On Aug. 19, the board approved a new rule that requires county boards to investigate and explain any inconsistency between the number of ballots cast and the number of people who voted before certifying the election.

โ€ข Election deniers secretly pushed for the measure, ProPublica first reported.

 

"Reasonable inquiries": County boards must now conduct a "reasonable inquiry" and can request election-related documents before certifying elections if they suspect vote totals are inaccurate.

 

Hand-counting ballots: The board next month will consider another rule to require three polling precinct workers at each voting location to match a hand-count of ballots to the machine's vote count, WABE reports.

โ€ข Under another rule, election boards would have to begin compiling vote totals and precinct results before provisional ballots and military and overseas votes are due.

 

What they're saying":[Assuming positive intent] would be defining a problem very clearly, listening to the people who do the job to come up with a solution, and then being very careful about the solutions that are implemented," said Woolard, who has filed an ethics complaint against the 3-member majority bloc.

โ€ข "That is not what's happening. This is pure bullying force to implement changes that no one has asked for except perhaps Donald Trump and the Republican Party."

 

The latest: Top Republicans, including Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Attorney General Chris Carr, have criticized the board's rule-making and call to reopen an investigation into Fulton's handling of the 2020 election.

 

What's next: Despite calls for a time-out from a coalition of Georgia elections directors, voter registration workers, and Democrats, the board members plan to consider additional measures at the Sept. 20 meeting.

My parents and relatives and friends would have long political discussions and many on the other side, and once they finished jabbering, they'd all say, lets get a drink now.
